I have a new 2.5 ton central a/c it cools fine the problem...

I have a new 2.5 ton central a/c it cools fine the problem is when it first starts my lights dim for just a second. I'tsnot blowing the breaker so I am not overloading the circuit?

I think the start currant on all idems is 125 times the running currant, just for a micro second.

not to worry. all you're experiencing is just a little "bump" in your power. i've seen it happen more than once,even in a brand new building that i wired for a customer.

Any large motor-operated appliance, like a central air conditioning compressor, will draw multiples of its steady electrical draw when it first starts.  Thus, a 3 ton unit nominally rated for 16 amperes of current at 220 volts may easily draw 48 amperes on startup - causing a fall in voltage throughout the house which lasts a half-second or so.  If the unit is properly fused or breakered at the panel board, there is no harm done.
