Your "female" leopard gecko is probably a male; males vibrate their tales against the ground. If you're certain she is a she (either check with a herp vet or if you've seen her lay eggs before), then I don't know what the problem could be. Perhaps she's just stressed. Make sure her environment is right (temperature gradient, hiding places, etc.) and not too noisy. Quiet down the area her cage is in and try not to handle her too much. That should reduce stress and make her less likely to injure herself again.

the tail might look slightly shady when she/he is well fed-the tail being fat because the ridges expand, they shake their tail when they are hunting so it could be that. make sure that the contents of the tank...e.g.. wood, hides..are not likely too topple over and succure.they could have fallen on her.if she/he starts to act differently, stops eating, stays in hide...call local vet. make sure temp is right....80 f at night ant bout 85 in day.

Well I agree with sand87. Every time my leopard gecko is about to lunge at a cricket he alway'sshakes his tail really fast. I just found out my amber was really a him instead of a her! So I changed his name to Rambo instead close enough nobody will ever know the difference he he he! I hope that helped. There is probably some more research you need to do if she is a female and shaking her tail though. Peace out!

Maybe SHE just hurt herself, or, if it's pink, she might of just lost her tail.

If you have more than one leopard gecko in your tank than maybe she is a male and is vibrating its tail to warn the other gecko that the tank is his territory and doesn't want any other gecko in it.

I have two leopard gecko's a male and a female. The male shakes his tail before he eats crickets, when he gets mad, scared, or exited. The female sometimes does, but she only has once or twice.

I wouldn't handle your lizard to much for a week or two and make sure there are lots of places for her to hide in her cage.
Your female might be a male though because when I first got my female the pet store told me she was a male, we later decided she was a female by looking at a leopard gecko manual. She just layed two eggs about 6 months ago, and now we're sure she's a female. So I know it can be confusing to decide which gender a leopard gecko is.

I would double check in a manual to confirm your lizards a girl and give her a calmer enviroment.
