B17 tailgunner, 2nd Bomb Group, 20th Bomb Squadron, Foggia/Italy 1944. Looking for any info or contact w/crewmembers of T/Sgt. Max Madsen, who completed 50 missions on 12/19/44. He was 28 yrs old in '44 and was previously stationed in Bakersfield/CA.

what were the B-17 tail gunners role in the aircraft during WWII? And what did citizens think of tail gunners. Did people think the job of tail gunners were dangerous?

Navigate through the 2nd bomb Group Association web site under personnel search.  The 20th BS was attached to the 2nd BG. The mission information will be there.

Hi
I'm an Italian flight engineer very interested in aviation history.
I'm doing a research about Campoformido-Udine and Friuli region and the american bomb raids over them.
Have some pictures or informations. I know that 2nd BG lost two plane the 30th of gen 1944. Do you give me some infoes.

Anywon in the 49th bomb squadron, 2nd bomb group, 15th air force out of Foggie Italy?
I was in that group and would like to hear from any one else who was there?
