If you were to rank each dog breed in order from best fighter or compile a list, first dog being the best fight dog, how would it be?

Also How accurate is this list that someone had sent me...

Dogs that can fight...

First Class
- American Pit Bull Terrier (True Bred Fighting Dog)
- Tosa Inu (True Bred Fighting Dog)

Dogs that have GREAT potential to be First Class…

Between First Class and Second Class
- Dogo Argentino (Hunting Dog w/ Extraordinary Fighting Capabilities)
- Presa Canario (True Bred Fighting Dog)

Dogs that have little or no chance of beating the First Class...

Second Class
- American Bandogge (APBT/Neo cross) (Guardian w/ fighting capabilities)
- English Bull Terrier (True Bred Fighting Dog)
- American Staffordshire Terrier (Show Dog/True Bred Fighting Dog)
- American Bulldog (Hunting Dog/Bull Baiting/The Foundation For Most Of The True Bred Fighting Dogs)
- Bully Kutta (True Bred Fighting Dog)
- Fila Brasileiro (Hunting Dog w/ Fighting Capabilities)
- Gul Dong (Gull Terr) (True Bred Fighting Dog)
- Indian Bull Terrier (True Bred Fighting Dog)

Dogs that have GREAT potential to be Second Class…

Between Second Class and Third Class
- Neapolitan Mastiff (Guard Dog)
- Mallorquin Bulldog (Ca De Bou) (Guard Dog/Fighting Dog)

Dogs that have little or no chance of beating the Second Class...

Third Class
- Caucasian Ovtcharka (Sheepdog w/ Extraordinary Fighting capabilities)

- Spanish Bulldog, and Spanish Alano (could be 2 breeds, or could be 1)
- Dogue De Bordeaux (Guardian Dog/Fighting Dog)
- Guatemalan Bull Terrier (Guardian Dog)
- Staffordshire Bull Terrier (True Bred Fight Dog)
- Akita Inu (Fighting Dog/Guardian Dog/Hunting Dog)

Dogs that have GREAT potential to be Third Class…

Between Third Class and Fourth Class
- Bullmastiff (Guard Dog)
- Alaskan Malamute (Work Dog w/ Fighting Instincts)

And finally dogs that have no chance or little of beating the third class, but can still hold their own...

The fourth class
- German Shepherd (Sheepdog w/ extraordinary protection capabilities)
- Doberman Pinscher (Guardian Dog w/ extraordinary protection capabilities)
- Rottweiler (Guardian Dog w/ extraordinary protection capabilities)
- Shar Pei (Guardian Dog/Fighting Dog)
- Wolf Hybrids (Extraordinary Fighting/Protection Instinct)
- Tibetan Mastiff, (and almost every other of mastiff origin that I didn't name, including the Boerboel and others) (Guardian Dogs w/ Extraordinary Size To Aid Them If They Were To Fight)

ITS PRETTY ACURATE. MY ONLY CHANGE WOULD BE TO PLACE PRESAS AND DOGO ARGENTINOS IN SECOND CLASS. I OWN A PIT AND A PRESA BOTH  MALES RAISED TOGETHER FROM BIRTH. BUT THE PIT WINS EVERY TIME THEY GET INTO A TUSSLE BEFORE I BREAK IT UP. THEY ARE JUST INHRENTLY BETTER FIGHTERS.I WOULD PUT PRESAS AHEAD OF DOGOS THOUGH.

airdales would have to be in the second class.large ones are crazy fighters.some coon hounds are able to take a german shepherd[seen it] some field labs and chesapeake retrievers are rough fighters.[strong as hell and fast]flock guardians such as maremma sheepdogs, kuvaszs, kangal dogs, anatolain dogs, akbash dogs, great pyrenees are bred to kill wolves[one on one] and are very good fighters, strong and very large[150lbs]so lots of dogs can and will fight just most are'ntgoing to stick with it if they are being killed.so the pit bull terrier is tops for staying power.but the rest WILL FIGHT.[DO NOT FORGET THE BOXER AND GIANT SCHNAUZER,MT.CUR-SOME OF THESE DOGS ARE GREAT FIGHTERS]

the two most used pit fighting dogs in the UK is the staffordhire bullterrier and the pit bull terrier.they bet for several thousand pounds in these dog fights.why do they use staffordshire bullterrier in the UK if it is a third class true bred fighting dog.we are talking lots of money here.if the English bullterrier is a second class fighting dog(English dog)why don't they use him in the pit fights against the staff and the pit bull?the English bullterrier became obsolete as a fighting dog in the 1800 century because he failed to beat the gamer staffordshire bulltrrier.hinks project about creating a better and more game fighting dog than the staffordshire bullterrier failed big time.have the english bullterrier become a better fighting when he has not been used in pit fights for generations.the English bullterrier belongs in the second class.but the staffordshire also belongs in the second class because he was in fact the the dog who made the English bullterrier obsolete as a fighting dog. the English bull terrier was taking out of the pit and they actually put him in with rats.he became a fighting dog against smaller animals because he did get his ass kicked in pit fights by the staffordshire bullterrier.Joe mallen rules.

bully is a great breed it is not to be compared with a pit bull.As they both fight a different game altogether bully is ideal for subcontinental weather as it is the only dog which can fight non stop 2 hours in 50 degrees. Plus another thing to consider is the fact that the ampb fights under totaly differentcanjun rules which are purely to see a dogs heart and his will to fight where as bully fiht rules rely more on strength and there are no scratches and are more or less continous until the finish. I own a ampb and a bully. When the ampb was the bullys size it use to beat him now the bully is too overpowering and the pitbill can not win by simply out menouvering the bully. Though I have a pit- bully cross 60% to 40% and it has won all fights it has been in here in Pakistan(6).

the best fighting dog is a

bully kuta or any type of local pakistani mastiff types bred with an american pitbull or english bull terrier raised in pakistan from puppyhood.

it is the best cross of fighting dog, trained to kill, and attack anything, also ability to live in extreme climate and terrain.

these type of cross bully type dogs are known to single handly kill bears, and kill a person.

in pakistan they are also set wild and to scavenge for their own food in dusty deserty 40 degrees celsius + which hardens them further, by eating lizards gerbils mouse centipedes hedgehogs mongoose.
attacking wild boars wild jackals and foxes.

they are also fed raw chillies and blood.
since blood is drained from the animal that is slaughtered and fed to the dogs.

dogs in the west are bred too soft and given too much attention and not treated hard/harshly enough.

any bull kuta crosses with pitbull, bull terrier, american bulldog conditioned in pakistan are the best fighters.

a trend is to import pitbull pups from usa, and raise them condition them as fighting dogs in pakistan, these are then bred with bully kuta and gull terr/gull dong types these mutt types are fierce and mental
and even attack their owners.

it will mince an ordinary pitbull, dogo or tosa anyday.

I would put the bully kutha in the first class with out a doubt.  I move the ca de bou up to the potentially first class.  remove the presa to second class, all it is is a bandogge made up of english mastiff and american pit, although I would love to believe that a true presa canario could be found. move Caucasian Ovtcharka up to the second class, this russian breed has skills. also move the Gull-dong to the potentially first class second, this is about the size of a dogo but is extremely aggresize and psychotic.  Add david levitts old english to the second class since that crazy basterd game tested his animals by cajun scratch rules and only bred dogs with the most game.
I think also the american bandogge should be placed in the potentailly first class section, since there are some really exceptionally game bandogges, and american bandooge could be a mix of any bull and mastiff breeds I myself use tosa in my bandogges and they got lots of game.

I guess a agree with the list.  I am would be interested to see the differences between the Amstaff and the Pitbull.  In many instances they are dually registered.  I know that people say that amstaffs are "show dogs" but I have see some pretty aggressive ones.  Just a thought.  I don't know that it warrants a change but I would like to do some research on the subject.

In Russia, I have seen 160 lbs Central Asian Ovcharka fighting 70 lbs Pit Bull and 130 lbs Tosa, and I am tell you that CAO took them down in just few minutes.  It was not just regular fight; it was one of the championship fights for big money.  You probably never have seen CAO fighting, because they were forbidden to leave Russia before 1990.  These dogs for 5000 years were naturally selected based on dog fights.  Central Asian tribes did not care about dog look or character.  CAO needed to be the toughest, strongest and first of all – the best fighter out of the entire pack.  The best fighter was selected for breeding purposes.  For 5000 years, Central Asian Ovcharkas were breed to fight and kill.  CEO was also fighting with pumas, wolfs, and bears.  There are true stories of two CAO killing a full size bear.  So tell me how other breed can stand against these monsters.

first off...i have a rottweiler and a large pit, and they have been in a few tussles. Everytime my rott wins hands down.Alot of dog fights depends on the dog and of course size matters alot. if you have a pitbull 40-75 pounds vs a 130-160 pound dog the smaller dog is going to wear down, and also is just not strong enough to do much unless he gets a neck hold, but the big dog usually wins. now my rott is from germany and is a real good rott example- big and powerful. as of many big guard type breeds with powerful jaws and alot of size, they are gonna be a handful for any smaller dog. pit bull or not. it's almost impossible to say one is the best, but some have more instinct than others. i would assume tosa inu dogs are up there because of their size, but rotts american bulldogs, bullmastiffs, presas, canes...etc are all gonna be close and depend on the individual dog, and of course size.

its a good list, but the rott should be in second class its not a fighting dog but ive seen fully trained rotts deystroy trained pitts in seconds.
the best fighting dogs are
1)tosa
2)bully kata,filo brasil,bandog ,molloser,argentine dogo,rottweiler,english bull terrior and the pittbull.
.....note .....the pit is the most used because the fights last longer due to its smaller size.a male pitt would be pitted against a young tosa for a longer fight.and any tosa over a year and a half old  male or female should destroy a fully grown pitt.

this is based on things i have seen and not my opinion

First of all the tosa inu is the best fighting dog in the world, the American pitbull terrier is bred to fight now in days for its skills and speed but I have to say it's not the best. I've seen a American bulldog holding on to a pitbull till it's death. Also know people that put a none train American bulldog with a train fighting pitbull and always the bulldog wins or kills the pit for some reason pits have lots of skills but not all the power that a bulldog can put on it. But in my view a bulldog is meant not to fight but to work so I don't want the rep. of the American bulldog to get mest up because of what my 2 scents had to say. If any body has anything to ask me or say email me at Bulldogmaster347@adelphia.net

buas for fighting pit bull has no equal but as far as all around dog, i think the american bull dog is numero uno.pit bullis the ultimate gladiator ,no animal, not just dog will fight for 4hours and 50 minutes ,until it goes into shock and dies. tugboat willie did ,he and his opponent both perished.hearts , that is called dead game no other animal will do this for the love of the fight.courage, man has bred this genetic trait into these dogs. but i still love the american bull dog first....but the pit is the dog with the most heart.

I REALLY hope none of you reading/submitting attend and/or participate in dog fights. Fighting dogs is a cruel, pathetic sport for guys with little ....well, I'll leave it at that.   Abusing animals is actually, LITERALLY, a sign of mental illness.  Get lives, focus on something that actually matters..like feeding the hungry or sheltering the homeless.  Or maybe you could strengthen your waning masculinity (and it will continue waning until you do something with integrity) by getting jobs that benefit society or otherwise spreading some good?  Instead of living vicariously through DOGS?  Just a thought...

Interesting... best of the best...your on track. On the other hand, as far as man-stopping is concerned(let's say cornered in a dark alley facing big,bad dude)  how diffrent would the list be? No way would you take a pit over the Fila. Since dog fighting SUCKS, this is what really matters in the real world.

Okay, there are a few changes i would make.
The Fila (Brazillian mastiff) IS the strongest and without a doubt the best fighting dog you can possibly get. in second class there should be the Bull terrier as they are excellent at taking down other animals of even twice they're size. And Rottweiler should be in third class as they too have good fighting abilities and they have very good size to back them up.

Have any of you lot kept a Bully Kutta or a Gull Terr? I've kept Bullies, Gullies, Pressas, Pits and have got a Tosa at the moment! If i would have to put these in order of best fighters, it would go in this order: Gull Terr (1), Bully Kutta (2), Pit Bull (3), Tosa (4), Pressa (6). But they should all be in the first class. (and i'm talking from 18 yrs of dog handling experience)!

APT and Tosas' are one of the best known, but some Kangals can kill either. This depends on the individual dog.. Some facts about the Kangal:

Can run 40 mph.
Can weigh upto 85 kg.
Can kill wolves.
Are very smart, do not waste time in a fight and go straight for the kill.
Have extreme endurance.
Stronger than a pitbull.

first place:
high stamina dogs:
a-Apbt
b-Tosas
c-Dogo argentino
Dogos were not originally bred for fighting but they have a very high stamina level wich make them last more than 20 minutes in a dog fight, but pits and tosas defeat them almost a an 80% of times, because of their capacity of "gameness".Other breeds like boerboels or presas can punish dogos, but in the average here in argentina they loose against gamed dogos. But pits and tosas are "the" fighting dogs, pound for pound; in mixed matches they are 50%50 in my humble opinion.

I was recently in The Canary Islands, where they still fight dogs frequently.  I witnessed some Pits against Presas and Tosas.  I can tell you that I could not believe how the presas destroyed both the pits and TOsas.  I talked to a few of these men that fihgt these dogs. (remember, they could not care which breed it is, as long as it wins tham money), and they told me that a 135-140 pound game-bred and experienced Presa has no match.  The only time they actually fight for real money is Presa vs. Presa.  Sometimes they will fight a very tough and large pit against a smaller Presa for interest of fairness for those who plce bets.  They told me that it is a rare ocassion where the pit dominates.  The Presa against the Tosa is no contest that they just view as a freak show.  Its funny that the other day I was reading a boook on the best fighting dogs at a bookstore and it validated what I witnessed and was told, no lie, really. Also, I was told that the Presas sold in the US are NOT really Presas, they tend to mix tham with Neos and end up weighing about 150-160 pounds being totallly useless as a fighting dog.  Another thing I noticed is how different they looked from the Presas that I had seen in the US. The Pit and the real Presa from Spain are the only two breeds that were SELECTIVELY bred for only on thing --- fighting, and they dominate with the Presa being the best.  Do not foo your self if you see Preas in the US, they are mixed Presas that are not suited for fighting.  Just go your self and withness this for your own sake.

I'm sorry but i'm quite sure none of you has ever watched a real dog-fighting. A lot of very unuseful breed for dog fighting are listed as 2°class, while Neapolitan mastiff is beetwen 2-3????They've been always used from Camorra (neapolitan Mafia)as fighting dogs and the only breed able to win them (but not ever)are Pitbull and Dogos. Today in Naples where illegal dog fighting is a very rich and common matter, Neapolitan Mastiff continue to be used with Pitbulls (absolutely the best fighting dog in the world) and Dogos Argentinos. Tosa has absolutely failed commonly destroyed by thes three breeds; Tosa is famous in japan for traditional question and for the capability to fight silently but it's an inferior breed. To conclude: first class: Pitbull; From 1-2 Class: Neapolitan Mastiff-Dogo Argentino 2 class: Tosa-Fila and then?i've never seen other breed on a pit, a part some powerful mixed breed

It all depends on the dog and the situation. Some dogs have switches and some do not. I have a Black German Shepherd that weighs in at 100lbs and has beat up 2 PitBulls, Bull Mastiff, and another German Shepherd. All these dogs approached my dog without a leash and I let him go. My friend has a dobermann, and it can hold its own too. I'm not disputing what may be the best RING fighting dog, but in real world conditions a smart dog like a Shepherd or Dobermann will be hard to defeat.

The question is What is a fighting dog? I'd say a dog that is tenacious enough to fight even if its life is at stake. Game bred pits probably have the best ratio of true fighters, but it's no surprise since they are chosen and raised for the pit. I guess a midium large dog like the argentinian dogo , if bred for the same purpose, would beat the pit bull due to its physical advantage.

I once again gotta put some guardians up there.  See the joy of bull breeds is they are dog agressive and not people agressive, thats their beauty in the pit, they are no danger to any person per say, but guardian dogs will give their life to protect thier master.  So i would have to put some of the top dogs as husky's Kangols (they guard flocks from wild bears in turky for christ sake, and on hind leg most are bigger than a man) as well as kerelian bear dogs. A bulls threshhold for pain is incredible dont get me wrong and thats why they are good fighters, but their is something to be said for the tenacity of wild and guard dogs.  Dont get me wrong bully's are tough tough tough, but height is an advantage.  Bulls spring up to take down, big dogs lower their head to get the killer neck snapping bite, similar to big cats.  There is also an old saying about brazils "Fila's".  The Ojeriza or "Hatred and loathing of strangers"  You do not make them viscious, they are viscious.

Since I have seen Akitas take on and win fights with APBTs. I think that sometimes itis the match ups of the breeds. Now I do think some of the other dogs capabilities are better suited to handle an Akita. Probably some of the fighting Mastiff breeds of Europe and South America. Thus , the development of the Tosa. The Akitas that I have seen taking on APBTs have more than held their own. APBT probably win most of their fights.  Akitas have the agility and speed to stay with a APBT But not the strength for handling a 180 lb Mastiff. APBTs are too small, quick and agile for a Mastifff type fighting dogs to keep up. Akitas are large enough for a Mastiff type fighting to catch up.

I agree that pits are second to none. But occasionally a dog comes along that can take them out. My dog(dogo argentino) has rolled with three pits and each time the owner of the pit was using a break stick to save his dog from strangulation. Not a scratch to my dogo while the pits suffered extensive injuries to the throat. His father was used in real fights where he defeated six pits. Later they only used dogs such as caucasian ovchars and middle asian ovchars against him but to no avail. He retired 22-0.

As far as "Gameness" or ability to fight...Id say the Staffy bull terrier, (ive seen them climb trees to kill cats)

The Am. staff, canary island mastiff (not as agile as staffy but very powerful) american Pitbull terrier (all around excellent fighter, power, agility etc), and the dogo argentino.

Now, As far as intense, almost psychotic ferocity...The Caucasian Ovcharka is the most hostile, fierce and protective domestic dog in existence. My neighbor from the Ukraine had one and it mauled an english mastiff like a ragdoll.

If i had to choose one...i couldnt. Each dog is a unique blend of genetics...One could say that a cross-bred Am. pit, Staff bull, dogo argentino, Akita may make for the ultimate Fighting dog.

im sorry but i think you put gsd, rotty and doberman in 4th class nonononono u c ppl have such high thoughts of pittys being strong just because ound for Pound there dtrong but up against a faster bigger dtrong doberman rottweiler or doberman or shepherd they will get their throuts torn, the only time a pitbull has a chance is when those dogs are not trained to fight from birth otherwise they will win but i do support dog fighting i just noe a bit about it coz my dog ahs been in unstaged fights

I forsure thing that the Kangal should be in dogs that have potential to be in first. I've seen a Kangal take down a great APBT fighter.

I thinks its not accurate because, in the first class should be at least, the following breeds: kangal, akbash, bullygullterr, bully kutta, gull terr, caucasian ovcharka, central asian ovcharka and the Dogo Argentino bred for hunting big game, of course the Tosa Inu and the apbt, being the apbt at my judgment the greatest.
Second class.
Presa Canario, Dogo Argentino bred for beuty (still remains strong), rottweiler, american staffordshire terrier, bullterrier, staffordshire bull teriier, irish staffordshire bull terrier.
Third class.
All breeds descendants of the Mastiff and the bulldog of the old days.
fourth class.
All breeds bred for guarding and military work, in few words all the working breeds for this porpuse.
Thats about it.

The kangal is without a doubt the most powerfull dog in the world. I have seen videos of kangals fighting ptibulls and in each fight the kangal ripped the pitbull to pieces. Too bad the videos have been removed from youtube.

I was walking my male airedale and female rhodesian ridgeback years ago in a city south of Boston,Ma.I noticed a loose red rednosed male pitbull up ahead. He saw us at about the same time.He charged. The ridgeback wanted to break loose to meet the pits charge. My airedale was smelling a chainlink fence.I fought the pit.I held back my two dogs and fought off the pit with my feet.I guess i'mthe toughest fighting dog.I held back my two 100lb dogs at the same time i fought off a pitbull.Guess blackbelt karate fighters are the top dog.I'd say an Airedale could take on the fighting breeds if they were MEAN.airedales are mean to bear, boar and mountain lion, not dogs.Airedales have killed wolverine, lynx, boar, baboons, hyena, wolves and have been killed not backing down to grizzly and african lion. They are brave but they don't like to kill other dogs.

Caucasian Ovtcharka. This is a primitive dog that still has primitive instincts. They are not bred to fight but to protect. They will protect their families and themselves to death. I think the only other dog that really compares in protective instincts, strength, and ferociousness would be the Tibetan Mastiff (another primitive breed). These are natural born fighters no-training needed. A dog bred for fighting does not make the best fighter. It needs to have the natural instinct to kill when needed. Pit Bulls and other breeds bred for fighting do not have the natural instincts of the Wolf does. Pit Bulls in general make poor protection dogs, although I have seen some that do very well in protection. It all depends on how its trained. Also, You should never train a dog to fight. They know (better than humans) when they need to fight.
