I am a 22 year old female. I weigh 160 pounds and am planning to go down to 146 I am trying to lose about a pound or half a pound a week. I have cut down my calorie intake to at least 1500 calories a day.  I heard that in order to lose 1 pound a week you would need to burn 500 calories a day in exercise. I also heard that you would have to burn 500 calories daily to lose a pound a week. Which one is right?

Calories are crap. Eat only meat and veggies and you'll lose a pound a day

If you want to lose a pound a week just limit your calories to 1200-1500 calories a day...and try to get in 30-45 minute cardio.  Remember you can break this down into 10 minute segments.  Keep in mind 3500 calories equal one pound.  Many people consume about 2000 calories a day equaling 14000 calories a week, so if you take out 500 calories a day you will definately loose weight but it's faster with exercise.

500 calories a day is a good goal for what to burn. I am very similar to you in age and weight and I do workouts that burn between 400 and 600 cals every day. I would say this is what you should do as well. Try to do it every day and make sure you eat throughout the day, spacing out your food. This is a mistake i made and a reason why my weight plateaued. Also make sure you switch your routine up every few weeks. Routine is bad for losing weight.

i just starve myself & exircise & in a week u lose about 8 pounds
