I'm using Astaro in the office now. its a good firewall as a whole, but the BUSINESS practices that Astaro is currently doing are less than honest. Example, we started with Version 3, which included gateway switch over, then they removed it in Version 4 because they got support calls. Next Version 5: This was a REAL bummer: They DISABLED the portscan detection and make you pay $700 PER YEAR to get it turned on! I found this out AFTER one of the reps recommended I get the new version and told me I could use my license without paying anything extra. I'm inclined to think they deliberately "forgot" to mention it. Again, as a firewall its great, but the sales managers there are real sharks, who try to get you hooked, then find a way to get you to pay more for what you already have. Before you buy ANYTHING from them, mention this fact about their changing the rules, especially on existing customers. If enough people object, they'll stop trying to gouge customers.

Question: Anyone have any feedback to share on Astaro Linux Firewall? I’m in the process of deciding on a linux-based firewall product for my company. My number one priority is that it is an all-in-one internet security software package that includes firewall, intrusion protection, virus protection, spam protection, VPN gateway, and content filtering. I’ve been researching a product from Astaro and was hoping to get some feedback. Has anyone used their firewall before and have anything to share? Their website is http://astaro.com . Thanks! Quinn

Although this is probably why you want it, this firewall is very hard for me to get past
