You can give Darksteel Colossus plenty of   -1/-1 counters using something like Fevered Convulsions, Indestructibility doesn't say anything about this not being able to kill it, you can also make your opponent sacrifice it.

HAHA....by the time you give colossus 11 -1/-1 counters...you will be dead...there are plenty of ways to stop the colossus..remove attacking creature from game, topple, 3 havoc demons(not likely to happen).etc...

I got darksteel colossus in my third Darksteel pack, and frankly, i dont like it. Its a major bummer if you draw it at the beginning og the game and your opponents can easily block this card's 11/11 with a pest nuisance. What you need to make Colossus really unbeatable is an artifact card form DS called Wipersilk cloak :-0

Well, You Don't Necesarily Need To Beat It.
Just Find A Card That Can Tap It.
And Just Then Use Creatures With Flying, Shadow, etc...

Remove the creature, pacify, cage of hands, etc.  There are ways to do it, but a force sacrificing it may not be the best choice.  Try using say a sword of kaldra, deal damage, then remove it.  The other thing you can do is to use a callous oppressor to gain control of it.  This can be used as a sweet irony, since your opponent thought he could win.

lol u guys are funny... darksteel colossus is one of the easiest cards to stop in the whole game for the cheapest amount of mana.  Almost all are just 1 to play.  Spirit Link--Swords to plowshares--pacifism--chainers edict--unsummon--bringer of the red dawn--counterspell--lingering death (i think... dont really kno the wording)--alter of light--fog bank--sand skin--anything that taps a creature as its ability-- etc etc etc so many frigin ways so stop complainin

There are many easier ways to kill the colossus but can only say a few here.  Some are enchantements like pacifism or spirit link.  Any card that can tap a creature (wizards, artifacts).  To see my forums check out my website where it has the ultimate decks and answers: http://fabar.outwar.com/page.php?x=45203

Well, everything but direct damage and destroy effects is still an option. Return to the owner's hand, Keep it tapped and out of play, Send it to the graveyard (until it is shuffled back in of course)

Just remember, since all it does it do damage (though it does it very well) all you have to do is make it so that it can't. There are plenty of ways to remove a creature from the game without using damage.

Your best bet though would just be to make sure it never sees play at all if you can. Because once it is out there, you've got a whole new ball game on your hands.

Counter it before it is being cast. by the time your opponent gets enough mana, you should have a counter spell in your hand.

Definitely remove it from game... or use some sort of creature nullification, like Faith's Fetters or Pillory of the Sleepless.  Or, just keep it permanantly tapped, a la Icy Manipulator.  Or, use something like Followed Footsteps to make your OWN Darksteel Colossus.  Sisters of the Stone death can also take control of that nasty iron giant.

Bottom line is, Magic has lots of ways of dealing with big creatures.  So, unless you're using some cheap summoning method, this guy's probably not worth it.  For 11 mana you can get lots of better stuff.

My Colossus deck ran w/ Proteus Staff and I had no other creatures except the Colossus(3 of them). If you actually managed to put any counters on it or somehow stopped it from attacking you, I'd recycle it and bring out another one.
