the blame for the second world war lies squarelly on the versailles treaty ,Hitler,Mussolini,Britain ,Russia and France. The treaty of versailles enabled the two dictators to come to power it was hated so there idea to over throw the treaty was greatly acceppted by the masses in Germany and Italy. If France and Britain had worked together within the framework of the league they might managed to stop Hitler as early as 1936 when he remilitarised the Rhine Land, they could have done this under the collective security provision of the League of nations.Due to self interest Britain chose the policy of appeasement towards Hitler and Mussolini in the hope they would be satisfied which was agrave miscalculation because Hitlers foreign policy based on aggression  fueled by wanting to over turn the treaty of Versailles only got even worse and more demanding. The British and the French thought they done the ultimate appeasement when agreed to Hitlers demands for Sudetanland  which had been given to Checoslovakia but this only prompted him to make more demands now for the Polish corridor and Danzig. This was the match that lit the whole pile of firewood. The British and French are mainly to blame for they should have taken a united front towards Hitler at the Munich confrence 1938 at which Checoslovakia might have been astronger and better ally in the war against Germany ,it was stronger compared to Poland which they chose to go to war  over.Russia should have allied with Britain and France instead of signing none aggression pacts with Hitler ,although on this issue Britain and France should partly take the blame for not negotiating with Stalin early enough because of there fear and mistrust of communism.
