Wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction. I recently obtained a compaq 425 for very little at a garage sale. The lcd does not power up. The computer works since it outputs to an external monitor. I have tried function plus F4 to change display no reaction. Last night I removed the top plastic of the display and also removed the keyboard. I took the LCD panel out and tugged and pushed on the connections no reaction. I examined the flex cables all appear fine. I pushed on the flex cable connection to the motherboard still no response. I did put the keyboard back on for each step and the computer did power up but with no display. Is there a way to evaluate whether the LCD is really dead? Should I disconnect the flex cable to the mother board and reconnect to see if it's corroded? Is there a switch that's broken that turns the screen off when the notebook is closed?
