What is the best Dog Food to feed a Great Dane and not from a grocery store.  No corn, wheat, or Beef, I use Wolfking at the moment, any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

My dogs love Innova, Chicken Soup For the Dog Lovers Soul, and Diamond Dog food. I usually buy a large bag of either Innova or Chicken Soup and mix it with Diamond's lamb dog food. Diamond is cheaper and mixing it up saves me some $$. My American Bulldog's love it.

I was always told not to mix dog foods because you mix up the balance of protein, fat vitamins and especially minerals such as calcium and phophorous that must be balanced.

From http://home.att.net/~wdcusick/GreatDane.html

"This is a breed that in its native environment is still being fed a diet of high fiber (whole rolled oats, cabbage, etc.) and high protein foods. I have seen fewer instances of bloat or torsion reported in its native Germany than I have in America. Therefore, for this special breed I recommend commercial foods that are very high in their fiber content.

The food sources found in the native environment of the Dane included high fiber whole oats, cabbage, and rye. The meats were wild boar, deer, and a lean beef from a dairy cattle. I recommend a food for today's Dane that contains beef, whole oats, rye, and potato. I also recommend that you avoid feeding a food that contains any soy, white rice, or fish to a Great Dane."

Nutro Lamb and Rice, or Kirklands Lamb and rice are really good. A lot of breeders use those.

Hey  Chrissy,
Please go to Linda ARNDT'Shome page. She is a dog nutritionist and breeds Danes. This person D who answered your question is WRONG! she is going to kill her danes by mixing and switching foods like she's doing! Just type in Great Dane Lady and it will take you to website.

Oh, by the way Diamond had a recall on their food recently, bad stuff was in it and I guess it killed a few dogs.

I agree with the Diamond products- especially the Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul.  I also love Nutro Ultra- which is very similar.  They use brown rice and vegetables, flaxseed etc for the oils and vitamins and real meat for the protein.  My dogs actually like them too!  Iams has really cheapened their formulas (I used to work at a pet store) and my dogs vomit it up.Nutro and Chicken Soup are the only ones for my Boston Terrier, Italian Greyhound and English Bulldog.
