Why and would history be different if Japan had not bombed Pearl Harbor in Dec. 1941? Would the U.S. have entered the war and why or why not?

i believe that even if Japan hadn't bombed Pearl Harbor, the U.S. would've entered anyways because of Hitler's growing power which would've alarmed most Americans and might'vecaused them ask the government to declare war on the Axis Powers. Also, Japan had begun to dominate all of the Pacific and Southeast Asia and the American naval bases in the pacific would fight back at all costs.

History, as with any "what if?" situation, would be much different. For one thing, the U.S. would not have declared war on December 8 1941. President Roosevelt would have been hard-pressed to involve the U.S. in the war and certainly wouldn't be able to before 1942. This lapse of time would have allowed the Axis powers to further solidify their positions around the world.

Many historians have speculated on whether or not the U.S. would have entered the war or not. the easy answer is no one knows, but it's probably likely that the U.S. would've been drawn in at a later date by Axis Power maneuverings or trade embargoes and general politics.

Regardless of whether the U.S. entered the war at this point, it would most likely have extended the war for several years.
