Rednose and Bluenose are just colors. Red is a recessive gene which many pit bulls carry even if they are a different color. The breeders in Ireland many years ago didn't interbreed their lines with anyone else's, and they often kept pedigrees secret and guarded them with their lives. When the gene pool is relatively small like that it tends to bring out recessive traits, i.e. Red. And as for blue, it is just a dilution of black. I'm not exactly sure how blues were originally bred, but most breeders I know will breed blues with blacks and take the blue dogs from that litter and breed back to blue, since breeding blue dogs to each other for too many generations can cause problems.

A RED NOSED DOG IS GENERALLY A RESULT OF THE COLOR OF THE DOG, AS WELL AS THE COLOR OF THE DOG'S EYES. RED EYES, LIGHT COLORED COAT, RED NOSE. A BLUE NOSE PIT IS A UNCOMMON. A LOT OF PEOPLE WOULD LOVE TO HAVE A GREY PIT. THE GREY PITBULLS ARE THE ONLY DOGS WITH A BLUE-ISH GREY NOSE.

A red nose pitt is from the red nose bread .Red noses are earthier fawn, tan, chocolate , or red . Their eyes are green or yellow . Where the blue/black nose have earthier brown or hazel and very rarely blue eyes .There coats can be many different colors from white to brindle's. This is a way I try to tell the difference when I look at the two.

Blue pits are not bread for show and Red pits are not neccesarily bred for fighting or game. Like all dogs you may have a blue that is a very game dog and you may have a red that is tall, skinny, and not the dimension of your typical "fighting" dog. All pits are generally of the same "generically" aggressive, protective, muscular, square-jawwed makeup. Bottom line...Pits come in all shapes, sizes, and tempermants.

u guys are idiots, its not the nose of the dog that makes them classify as a "red" nose or "blue" nose, its the color of the dog itself. any pitbull is good to fight it doesnt go by the nose. get your priorities straight, i have 2 blue nosed pits and a red nose and there all the same dog.

red nose is the original pittbull color blue is a result of disease in there skin. which makes the blue . they are pretty but only from sickness that comes from heredity. thats why u cant really breed for that color.

Some of you people have no clue what the hell your talking about. Rednose and blues are ALL THE SAME DOG just different colors, one does not have more aggression that the other, one does not make a better pet and all around dog than the other. They are both AMERICAN PIT BULL TERRIERS. And thats that.

No.... Blue and reds are the same dog... neither are better at fighting and fighting is INHUMANE why would you risk your dogs life for the sake of personal gain?
Now to the point of blues being bred for color... some breeders dont breed for size it its class dependant if your showing your dogs you might breed for looks over size and same goes if your using the dog for working ie; competion pulling etc... same dog different color (blue being less common) and fighting is wrong

the difference between the red nose and the blue nose is only the color. the most important thing you look for is what do you love in a pitbull big head, wide chest, short legs otherwise no matter the color there the same breed the answer is which color looks better to you. me i'vseen the badest looking blue pit and i'vseen the badest looking red nose so if you know your pits blood line then just pick a color blue, red, or chocklate........

IVE BEEN ROUND PIBULLS FOR A LONG TIME AND I HAVE ALOT OF FRIENDS WHO FIGHT THEM TOO I DONT BELIVE ON THAT BUT THE TRAITS THEY LOOK FOR ARE SHORT THICK LEGS, LONG BODY , MEDIUM HEAD , MOST IMPORTANT HUGE JAWS AND A LONG SNOUT

it's all about the family tree of your pitbull thats what determins what color your dogs will be haveing. say you have a red nose but it's not from a red nose dad say a blue nose bred with a red nose and had red nose dogs. you would still have the blood of a blue nose pit in those red noses and when the breed when they get big they will most likely have some blue nose dogs cause its in their blood.

Rednose Pitties are just as beautiful as any other color of Pittie. One color has nothing to do with good fighting (GOD FORBID). They are a color. My Bella has a red nose, red eyes, pink ears, pink tummy. She'd be a Pit Bull whether she had a red nose, a blue nose, a polka dotted nose...get the point?

First I would like to say I am sorry to the person whom asked the question. A lot of people who have "NO IDEA" what they are talking about gave answers to the question. The problem with the answers is that they failed to explain the two different worlds of the American Pitbull Terrier. There are the Show pits & the Game pits. There are some blue nose and some red nose dogs that fall into both categories. I would say that the blues are more prominent in the Show ring and the Reds are more common in the catch dog / weight pull arena (game dog). Of the two the most poorly bred are the blue pits. The reason I say that is because there are lots of people out there color breeding for blue because they want to make money. Most of these people have no business breeding pitbulls at all. There are some that do the same thing with the red nose dogs, only it is less common. I know this because we have a big problem with it in this area. People who know nothing about the blue dogs buy a male and a female and just breed them to make a litter so that they can sell them. They didn't know anything about the dogs when they bought them, and had breeding them in mind long before they even lost their puppy teeth. I could keep going on this subject, but I think you get the idea. You can find good dogs that are blue nose and you can find good dogs that are red nose. You take a much bigger chance of getting a piece of crap dog buy purchasing a blue. There are 3 things that you need to remember. (1st) Bigger isn't always better in the pitbull world (2nd)You will never pay less for a good dog than what he is worth (3rd) you can easily pay more than what a dog is worth when you buy from a breeder that does nothing with his dogs but breed them for money. I would never buy a dog bred solely for show. That isn't where the pitbull came from and when you buy a show dog you aren't buying a pitbull at all. You are just buying a muscle bound worthless piece of junk. Buy a dog from someone who breeds for catch and you come close to the original thing. A pitbull is just like a book "it doesn't matter what the cover looks like, because its whats on the inside that counts" I think this is more what you were looking for.

Are 6 year olds answering this question or what?! Red nose are not for fighting you dumba--!...and neither are blues for that matter. A pitbull is a pitbull regardless of color. Best examples are Labrador Retrievers.....They come in yellow, black, or chocolate. They are all great hunting dogs and the color makes "ZERO" difference. It is all personal preference and variety to determine what color floats your boat. Color does not predetermine aggression, size, or anything else! Consider the question answered.

the difference's between the red nose and blue nose is the reds are a more muscular defined pit more in the head than anywhere, they are a usually meaner dog,and are a smaller dog with a red nose and any color but the gray/blue color. the blue nose pits are generally a lager dog with a huge head and not as muscular defined as the red, they are a nicer pit in the attitude category, they are usually the gray/blue color with blue or green eyes with the occasional white blue nose.

Red nose pits were breed in Ireland
and Black/Blue nose pitbulls was
breed in England. When they came
to america they started to breed
them together because both of them
could fight. Then since they were
basicly the only dog that was fighting
in america and they look similiar
they just made them one breed.

The original APBT were actually red nosed, the blue comes from cross breeding with another type of dog, like a english bull dog. This is why you seldom see a RN pit with the extremely enlarged jaws, like you tend see in the blue pits aka the Juan Gotti Bloodline

I think a dog with a red nose is more of a protective pet it has a brownish tanish color they are also aggressive. A blue nose well is more of a fighting dog. If there both then I think the red will show more then the blue there usually aggressive dogs.( but its only a prediction.)

Rednose pitbulls don't all have red noses thats the obvious uneducated people try to answer with to make it seem as they know. I know a breeder who has a all brindle male with a black nose who came from a tan with rednose male and female. Honestly the difference is unclear to me but i know that fur and nose color only skim the surface to this question, and genetics is more what has to be looked into.

I'm not to sure about the rest of these people but I'm not talking out of my ass or what my ass thinks it knows. I have a Blue piball UKC reg. and I have two Red Noses UKC reg.. 1st of all its not called a Blue nose pit!! They dont have blue noses they are black. They are called blue pits because of their color not their nose. Who in the world said that red nose pits were for fighting and blues were for breeding. I would agree with you on the fact that reds would be better for fighting then blues but it dont matter what kind of pit it is for fighting. Blue pits are more expensive because they have higher and better bloodlines. A true Red Nose Pit will have all red toe nails and HAZEL GREEN (yellow) eyes, red paws, and a thick red color "around" the lips and they dont have to be the full red color may also have white in it. Blue Pits come out solid, solid with some white mostly on the chest and they also have what is called "PIBALL" which has the blue and white patched like a cow. If you mix a Blue and a Red you dont get a chocolate RETARD!!!! They come out mixed colors and the dont look as good as keeping the colors the same. If you want a PITBULL that you can take to dog shows and have a respectable bloodline then you want a BLUE PIT. If looking for that muscle bound cock disel dog thats good for hunting, fighting then you want a RED NOSE PIT. Blues get big but they dont have the muscle mass of a Red. Oh and to the other RETARD RED NOSE PITS DONT HAVE RED EYES.

The red nose breeds are just a good breed that come in many colors like sally said. But the Albino Red Noses usually have pink around there eyes wich makes them hate the sun! I have 8 Red nose pits! Brown, tan and white!

Rednose dogs, from my experience are usually from Old Family breeding, although I have seen other lines with rednose dogs. Better? the only better dogs are bred by breeders that know what they are doing. If you can look at the pedigree and know exactly what you are going to get, you have a good dog; regardless of the color.

Well I think red nose pitts are a lot different from the blue. My sister has a rednose pitt, and from the other answers, they are right. My sisters red nose pitt has a greenish yellow color of eyes, and she is a light color. She is a very beautiful puppy. She just recently recovered from the disease called Parvo. Which is a disease that attacks puppies when they are little. They get side affects like vomiting, diarrhea, and dehydration. They can die in a matter of 3-4 days. Luckily they got her some antibiotics in time. Well thats all I have.

Spelling is definitely an issue. No wonder the general public has low regard for the breed: if its shown that ignorant people possess such a powerful animal, then they tend to think lowly of the breed. I own a great pit, and I can communicate the English language with ease. For those that don't know it, try it sometime.

red nose pits are from the mason, watchdog, jeep, corvino bloodlines with a few outcrossed to the origional red devil bloodlines and therefore are all traceable to the first rednosed breeding. blue nosed or blue pits have a minimum of 15% american staffordshire bloodlines which decades ago had much more mastiff influence than bulldog influence.!!!!!!!

Blue nose pits are known to be the biggest bread of pit bulls but i still think that its just a color and some people make rumors. As for blue nose pits they are also for hunting or anything a red nose can be. The reason why people use blue nose pits for shows is becks they are mutch more rare and i beleive look mutch better.

And to answer that question, red nose dogs are common and a lot of people get them for less than $150. Blue nose run at about $500 with out papers and it is rare to find a blue nose mostly grey dog. all of you are some clowns, its said that very few of you know what you are talking about. It is even more pitiful that half of you cannot spell or type well enough to even make sense. Well with all of your ignorance set aside, there is no difference between a red nose, a blue nose or a black nosed American pit bull terrier. It is just a color. They are all the exact same breed of dog, just color variations within the same breed. Because Pit bulls were never bred to be certain colors in the past because it was irrelevant when it came to fighting they now exist in many many colors. They are all the same. What color pit bull you prefer or think is more attractive is your own preference but remember that they are all the same breed of dog. I am sick of you people calling them different breeds, look and compare papers from every pit you can and different nose colors and they all say American Pit Bull Terrier (ADBA,UKC). They are all quite capable of doing any task you put before them regardless of color, a blue can win a show the same as a red and a black one can catch a hog just as good as a white one. Reds can be just as big or small as any other it all depends on what traits the breeder has emphasized on in their breeding regime. Thank you for reading my 2 cents.

In my point of view, blues are better dogs.
Thats just me, I cant speak for no one else.
Blues are more show dog/guard dog. Blues are not known for fighting, because of being so expensive. On the other hand reds are known for fighting they are easily blood trained and can get real mean if not trained right. Don't get me wrong there pretty dogs, but pits are my life I'm only 17 and me and my mother have been breeding them for more then 5 years now.No pit should be fighting in the first place no matter what the color is! now days it makes no difference what color the coat, eyes, markings, or nose. back in the days when our apbt'sancestors were mainly bred for the game, there was some lines that carried the distinct red nose. just so happens during those times alot of the fights were being won by these dogs. so naturally as humans love to exagerate "everything", the story of the fighting red nose pit bull was born. it's somewhat true, but over the last......100 plus generations of pits, just about every pit out there has that red nose in its genes.
its up to the breeding to increase the chance of it showing up.
anyways, its all preference..... just love the breed as a whole..... stop trying to seperate it.

Blue Pit bulls are different in a way that they have the merle gene. It is a very rare gene that results in a grey, blue,or white coat possibly with a those colored spots. Bluenose pits are usually breed for their wit and ability to solve problems very fast...plus the bluenose looks great. The rednoses are usually more baulky and are more breed for fighting and agility..although both sub-breeds are very agile and intelligent.

Red nose male, Blue nose female. and the get along great! The Only Difference Between the dogs Are The color!(Gene) A pit bull is a Amstaf. no difference. Please I urge you To study on the breed before you own one. There are many myths that Ruin the breeds rep.
------------------------------------
American Pit Bull Terrier ( APBT ) breed History
The history of the Pit Bull varies depending on the sources you refer to.
During the time of Minos in Crete the sport of bull baiting was quite a popular form of entertainment. This sport was developed as a part of the worship practice in honor of the warrior god "Mithras".
During this time most dogs were wild and ferocious by nature. As the Roman tribes of the time conquered and moved across the land they also took the sport with them. Due to the selective breeding of the best dogs a distinctive breed began to emerge.
By the 1700's there were two primary bull fighting dogs that had developed. This was the Blue poll of Scotland and the Alunt from Ireland both of which were referred to as bulldogs. The Alunt of the time resembled something closer to a Great Dane but is presumed to have later developed into the Alono of Spain.
As this and other dog sports were developed people selectively breed different dogs to achieve the fighting attributes that they desired. They often mixed these breeds with the great dogs of England also used to bait bulls.
During this time it was thought that the use of the dog on a bull had a tenderizing effect on the meat. In reality this was a myth perpetuated by dog men and gamblers in order to encourage participation and thus draw the profits of gambling.
By the time of the early 1800's due to selective breeding a dog had emerged which was very similar to the American Pit Bull of today. Due to a slow economy and a law which prohibited people of low economic means from owning a sporting dog the practice of bull baiting began to diminish
In 1835 bull baiting was officially banned. This forced people especially of the lower classes to find alternatives for their dogs. This resulted in a sport known as ratting where a number of rats were placed in a pit for a specified time with the dog. THIS IS IN FACT WHERE THE "PIT" IN THE AMERICAN Pit Bull TERRIER NAME CAME FROM NOT FROM FIGHTING OTHER DOGS. The terrier part of the name came from its ability to hunt small game and was one of the reasons why ratters knew it would excel in the rat Pit. The larger the number of kill the better the dog placed in the match. Due to the constraints of space and the agility of Black & Tan and now extinct White terriers of England these terriers were often being mixed with the old bull baiting dogs to achieve dogs which were premium for these purposes.
It is believed that this practice of mixing bulldog's and terriers began in the town of Staffordshire England and became known as the Staffordshire Bull and terrier.
Due to the agility and gameness of this new found breed many began to also fight dogs with each other. Soon dog on dog fighting and ratting became so popular that practically all Inns and Pubs were equipped with a fighting pit.
As colonization of America and Canada began these people also brought their dogs. These dogs soon became known by the name of "Pit Bull Terriers"
As time progressed a gentleman by the name Chauncy Bennett founded the UKC in 1898 with the American Pit Bull Terrier as its foundation dog breed. Although some are fortunate enough to own a UKC registered Pit's the majority of the public has chose to not register their dogs due to financial constraints and subsequent loss of bloodline determination.
Here at The American Pit Bull Registry we seek to turn this trend around and to register peoples otherwise un-registered American Pit Bulls and to encourage people with otherwise registered Pit Bulls to dually register their dogs here.
By the time of WWI the American Pit Bull Terrier had became a well loved and desired dog. In fact the Pit Bull was used as Americas canine mascot of the time

In fact the Pit Bull was used as Americas canine mascot of the time and seen in such posters as this during war time.
(click picture to enlarge)
In 1917 a Pit Bull by the name of Sgt. Stubby became a war hero for saving several soldiers lives and even capturing a German Spy while in the trenches of France with the 26th Yankee Division.
Later the Pit Bull was used to signify sturdiness, dependability, and loyalty by such organizations as RCA, Buster Brown shoes, and even the loveable Pete of the Little Rascals.
In fact the first dog to travel across America in a car was a Pit Bull ( Bud ) and did so with the first persons ( Horatio Jackson and his assistant and "bicycle" mechanic Sewall Crocker ) to cross America in a car ( A Winton named the Vermont). Horatio later donated Bud's goggles to the Smithsonian Institute in Washington D.C. During the trip Bud would assist in watching for large bumps in the road and often received as much if not more attention by the press than did Jackson. After the trip was completed Bud bravely guarded the Jackson home until his death of old age.

most of the answers so far are incomplete.speaking from experience,i own a "blue" and a rednose.it has been my experience that the rednose is a more complete dog.a better companion and generally smarter.the problem w/most blues is that most breeders these days are complete scum looking to make easy money.breeding dogs is relatively easy to learn and alot of money can easily be made.these "people" are'ntthe type of breeder you want to buy from as the'remain concern is creating a dog that looks good so the money will come.they don't have the dog in mind when they breed and most don't take proper care of the animals in their kennel.my blue makes for a good watchdog, but thats about all she's good for.she has a somewhat unpredictable nature and is not preportioned well.she was bred to be very thick and short, the breeders self admitted "goal".this short thick stature is the result of purposely chosen inbreeding.my dog also has a "kink" in her tail.not to mention the numerous vet visits i have had to make for skin problems.my rednose has had no problems.you would be wise to stay away from these breeders, even if they seem professional and curtious.take your time and do research to find a reputable breeder.these bad breeders are ruining the reputation of the pitbull by breeding for looks instead of the overall complete dog.often temperment will be overlooked becuase that dog has a desired physical feature.now as for my rednose,he has the typical pitbull temperment, which is smart, loving, curageous, and loyal.he is also perfectly proportioned, which shows when he plays because he's so agile.my blue can barely walk up the steps, let alone jump off the ground.so speaking for the abused, neglected, and lonely pitbulls across the u.s.please don't fall into this "fad" that is the blue pit.it seems as though people want a short thick dog becauase they look strong and intimidating.the opposite is true.these dogs are too short and thick to move correctely.even though my blue is a great watchdog,i would wan'tmy rednose in my corner if the stuff hit the fan!

I have a blue nose, the only difference is the color. For those of you who keep refering red nose breeds for fighting are ignorant idiots. No one breed is meant for fighting, this is what wrongly stereotypes pitbulls. Please don't ruin it for those of us who raise good dogs. There are no bad dogs, just bad owners like you.

Most of you know nothing about this breed. I own, have owned, and currently breed both red nose pits and blue pits. The blue pit WAS a very rare color up until recently. Just like everything else supply and demand has changed. There is slight genetic differences. It is more or less the difference between being a blonde-blue eyed individual compared to a bruenette-brown eyed individual. The animal is similar in instinct, demeanor, and athleticism only different by parental make up in color, size, and intelligence. Now you can argue better or worse either way and it is a no win argument. If your interested in knowing more email me!

The colors of a pit bull have nothing to do with them being bred for fighting or for show. Color is basically meaningless. If you want to enter your pit in a show it can be any color, but it is preferred not to be more than 80% white, and blue eyes are considered to be a major flaw at least as far as judging characteristics are concerned. People, PLEASE, if you are going to post something, PLEASE post the facts. On a side note, NEVER FIGHT YOUR PIT BULL. FIGHTING ANIMALS OF ANY KIND IS AN INTOLERABLE ACT OF CRUELTY.

Pit Bulls are traditionally a performance breed. That means that they were originally bred based on how well they performed a certain task, not what they looked like. Color was probably the least important thing that oldtime breeders of Pit Bulls considered. Today, Pit Bulls remain largely a working/performance dog, and so the old way of doing things as far as looks are concerned largely still holds fast. True, many Pit Bulls today are also bred with the show ring in mind, however color is of almost zero importance even in that venue. No one who really knows Pit Bulls is all that impressed by color. A flashy color does not a good dog make, and although many people have favorite colors, breed-saavy people know that it's what's under the coat that counts..... So all of you that think you have a clue of what you're speaking, do your research before opening your mouth.. It makes me sick to read someones idiotic thoughts on here, its those who give the breed a bad rep.

There actually isnt a difference between temperamnets due to the color. All pitts suffer from dog aggression, and all pitts feel the need to fight with other dogs, its what they were bred to do historically, so for them it is rewarding. So whoever said that one is bread for fighting and the other for breeding, you are wrong. And short of being an Amastaff, bluenoses arent bred for show, because they cant be shown. The color makes no difference as to what the dog is more geared to, its just a color. The genes are all the same. Temperaments vary from dog to dog depending on the dog, not the color.

And just for the record, there isnt such thing as a "blue nose"....the nose isnt blue, its black, they are called blue because the blackish gray coat takes on a blueish tint to it. So no, brindle coats arent a part of the blue pitt at all, on occasion there will be white markings. but if it is brindle, straight black, or any color other than the grey that takes on a blueish tint, then it isnt a blue.

no difference although the blue nose seems to be the most popular theses days. The red nose are also a favorite of people over a pit with a black nose. Just like any other living thing each is unique like a women with red hair doesn't make them any different than a blonde haired women. It is all about what you like. I have a pure white blue eyed red/blue nose mix pitbull now that is something I liked.

The difference between the two dogs is color. Red nose pits come in a mass amount of colors any where from white on black to brindle there is no set type of colors. Now blue nose pits have been known to come in a more specific color range such as blue, blue on white, blue brindle, blue fawn etc. But when it comes down to it they are both American Pitbull Terriers and the difference lays in the bloodlines such as Razer Edge(more aggresive type), Gaff(most are blue fawn), Nevada, York, Gotti(big and stocky type) the list goes on. The nose the ring around the eyes is either red or blue and red nose pit don't have any blue if they are pure breed, I have seen mix breed and they vary depending on dominating genes or come with a purple type of nose rarely. As far as the history on blue nose pits they have become popular maybe with in the last 20 years not sure on that?

I can't believe you guys a blue pit, blue nose pitt, are a recycled bread dog. All pits come from red nosed dogs. The black color dogs are from a result of inbreeding and line breading colors which people liked. Keeping like colors which same or different mates in order to put colors together. The white color was a direct result. Mutation or albino trait so then mixing white with black or dark brindle u get your grey blue lines. Or a 75% or less albino trait will dilute your coloring. Color don't have nothing to do with temperment you control that your dog acts like you. I've seen 90 pound champ that go 2hrs and guess what ther blue, and check this out it 75% watch dog. He put on a show alright.

I DON'T REALLY KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A RED AND A BLUE NOSE PITBULL, BUT I THINK PEOPLE THAT SAY THAT RED NOSES ARE AGREESIVE AND USED FOR FIGHTING ARE SO WRONG. COLORS ARE JUST CHARACTERISTICS, JUST LIKE THERE'RE PEOPLE WITH LIGHT HAIR AND WITH DARK. PITBULLS MAKE GREAT PETS AND ARE VERY FRIENDLY, I HAVE TWO, A BLUE NOSE AND A RED NOSE, AND THEY GET ALONG VERY WELL. SO IF YOU HAVE A PITBULL, RED OR BLUE NOSE, DONT LISTEN TO PEOPLE, JUST TRAIN YOUR DOG TO BE OBVIDIENT AND TO RESPECT YOU AND OTHERS SO YOU DONT HAVE PROBLEMS IN THE FUTURE, REMENBER THAT ANIMAL ARE ANIMALS AND THEY ALL TEND TO BE AGRESSIVE AT SOME TIMES.

You can have a blue nose Pitt that is a fawn color and as well you can have a red nose that is a black or blue color. It has to do with Blood line NOT the color of there coat.

There is a big difference between rednose and bluenose pitbulls. Both breeds are from different parts of the world. Rednose are generally smaller and compact and were originally more so for fighting. Bluenose are a little bigger and are known for hip deplacia over and under bits. Rednose are less likely to have these or really any medical issues. The rednose are a more pure breed of pitbull.

blue nose pits are generally larger because they are not in fact true pits they are bred with bulldogs for those who dont belive me do your research and look at an adult blue pit and a american bulldog and a rednose pit and you have three different dogs blue nose pits are more sought after sometimes because of the color but they do not carry all of the characteristics of a true pitbull rednose tend to be more aggressive and energetic blue noses are a little more laid back and serious they are short tempered.

THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A BLUENOSE AND A RED NOSE APART FROM THE FACT THEY HAVE DIFFERENT COLOUR NOSES.A PIT IS A PIT.IT DOESN'T REALLY MATTER WEATHER ITS NOSE IS BLUE OR RED. A PIT IS A WICKED DOG.EVEN THOUGH YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO HAVE PITS IN ENGLAND I HAVE SEEN QUITE A LOT.I'VE SEEN BLUENOSES RIP UP RED NOSES AND I'VE SEEN RED NOSES RIP UP BLUE NOSES.IT ALL DEPENDS ON HOW THE OWNER BRINGS THE DOG UP TO BE.FRIENDLY OR DANGEROUS

Red nosed pitbulls have lighter coats than most. Blue nosed pits have darker coats. Majority of bluenose pits have blueish/grey coats. But you can really tell the difference by the color of the nose.

all the info here is about fighting.....a red nose pitbull is generaly 50-65 pounds...and has 1300 pounds of pressure in its jawls....a bluenose pitbull is generally 80-110 pounds...with 2200 or more pounds at the jawls...the smaller pitbulls are more adgile...but are less bulky wich leads to skin tears....the stronger larger dogs almost always win.....but most blue nose owners wont fight a dog they spent thousands on....the breed of pitbull is pitbull....the news and info on pitbulls is right the reds have tendancy to snap....the blues are less likely to because there over bred...and socialized more because evryone loves the blue color.....and the nose color is what matters.........but they are all pitbulls....

I own both a blue nose and a red nose pit. The difference between the two is obviously with regards to color, but also in build. My red is sleek and tall and my blue is short, stocky, and with a much bigger head and almost no neck to speak of. this may not be an absolute rule of thumb but more often than not I have noticed this to be a common occurance. both of my pits are mild tempered but that is due to training, not genetics.

I have a message for all people who own "pitbulls" and think that they know everything about them. Being a postgraduate in genetics and owning pitbulls myself, i can tell you that the difference between red nose and black nose pits are just that, dogs with red noses and dogs with black noses. People think that red noses are fighting dogs which is absolute bollocks. In fact the original fighting pits were infact black noses and that the most famous champions were black noses too. red nose dogs are just a fashion accessory and does not determine any of the characteristics of the dog. Just one last thing, there is no such thing as a blue nose pit, by this i mean its not a genetic trait. its just how the nose appears in certain light.

You are all so friggin ignorant about pits. Color is nothing but that, color. Black nose is the natural color, red and blue are both recessive genes. Also, nose color has nothing to do with eye color, coat color, size, or anything. I own three pits, a white and fawn with black nose and black eyes, a chocolate and white red nose with green eyes, and a grey/blue and white with red nose and amber eyes. The last two are rare, but they just show that the variety exists. As far as breeding them for fighting or show is also bull. It's true most black and red nose are bred for working, because they were originally game bred. But all dogs can be used for show, plus there are many types of shows. GOD, you all know nothing about pits... Plus, fighters can be any color, and the new fighters are blue hippo pits anyway, so everyone just shut up unless they know what they are talking about.

As stated by someone already the only difference is that it is a a different color dog. APBTs come in many colors see
www.apbtconformation.com for tons of info.
Also FYI banananutcreamer69 the color has nothing to do with what the dog is used for. Both blue and a red nose APBTs can be show dogs If they are conformationally correct and have good temperaments
No APBTs should be used in fighting as it is illegal and in the past when dogs where faught color didn't matter any way
All colors of APBTs make great working dogs for things like weight pull, obedience and agility as well. They also are used as therapy dogs, for herding, ScH etc.
I don't agree with the sport of hog hunting
Another good site to learn about the breed is www.realpitbull.com
I own and show APBTs who are CH and GRCH have agility titles and or are therapy dogs

The difference between the two is the red nose is closer to what is considered to be a "pit bull." The blue is closer to the Staffie bloodline and as far as performance, don't go with blue. Blues are bred for size and color, it wouldn't catch a piglet much less stop a warthog.

I think anyone who says the red nose is for fighting, is an idiot, and the dog should beat the crap out of you for saying that. Pits are one of the strongest canines. All very aggressive and energetic. Their aggressive nature came from their past purpose. Which was not fighting!( though they can) some breeds may come with better abilities than most. Strength, agility, stamina, coordination, build, etc. The color differences of their nose comes from simple genetic structure, dominant or recessive. Duh!

a red nose pit is a skinny fightin type of pitbull an a bluenose is an all aroud dog it makes a good house pet.blue nose is least likely to turn on its family/owners. reds are loyal but very aggressive but are trainable to lose aggression. blues are loyal an are very smart there are very good with kids.reds are the same as far as strenth goes there just more sleek. blues have a wider mouth span but reds mouth will do more damage.THEY ARE BOTH VERY GOOD DOGS AS LONG AS THEY GET PROPER TRAINING. i would say from experience that both that they are both very smart dogs an i have a friend that has red nose & blue noses in his house an he from me seeing both types they are both athletic but a rednose is more sleek an more sportive. as where a blue nose is more buff. but neither are slaves an dont deserve to be in a house hold where their owner/owners are goin to use them to fight i am a pit feen an i feel that if u fight them you cant love them

Blue pit bulls are bred for wild boar hunting, weight pulling, and show. all full blooded blue pits have a blueish grey coat, blue eyes, and a blueish grey nose.
red nose pit bulls are bred for the same thing but red nose pits are generally more aggressive than blues and are preferred for fighting. all rednose pit bulls have a red nose, red, fawn, chocolate,or red brindle coat and red or yellow eyes.
but any of them will make a good dog its just in the way you raise them.

I have blue nosed pits and I've also owned a red nose. As far as personality, they are exactly the same. The color is the only difference here. There is blue-brindle, gray, solid blue, and blue fawn; all of which have "blue" noses. The chocolate, red, fawn, and red brindle all have red noses. It depends on what color you prefer. No pit should ever have blue eyes, blue nose or not.

rednoses and bluenoses are bred for all the same purposes wild boar hunting, show, ect.
rednoses are normally more aggressive and are often used for fighting. they also tend to be short and wide. they have a red coloration some tend to get a recessive gene and thats when u get an albino which is white with a pink nose and red eyes. their eyes are either yellow or a brownish red.
bluenoses are normally your least aggressive. they tend to be bigger in size. they all have a bluish grey coat some have white markings. any pure blooded blue will have blue eyes but, some that aren't have brown or a yellow.

I know that blue noses are great family dog because i have 2 that i keep around my kids(3&1 years).I Have had one for 5 years and the other for 1.I know that these dogs are originally breed to fight. As for red nose they are good dogs but you do have more problems, and dount seem to obay and follow comands as well as a blue nose.I Had A rednose and she was a hand full, I could not trust her alone with the kids. Blue nose learned faster and are more faithful to the owner.

Red nose and Blues, the difference is this. Red nose Pitts have red noses and are usually red, brown, fawn, tan, chocolate, and any other shade of brown. They usually have white markings on them. True Red nose Pitts are a bigger breed of Pitt. There eyes are green or yellow. A Blue has dark nose which can be said to be black or blue. A Blue is a black dog BUT it has a sheen, shine, Gray, or silver tint to the coat, (this is why they are called BLUES) it appears to be blue. They also can have white markings. A brindle, is just that its a brindle not a blue. There are many different types of Pitts my advice to you is to go to your local library and research.

red pits are from chad, africa. they were used by tribal villagers to hunt for food. but the lions were killing them so they banned them from africa. and where does one go when you are banned? the usa of-course. to replace the red nose in chad they are now using shaved french poodles. they seem to scare the lions away. bluenose pits are from chile, s.america. they were used to help fisherman catch fish due to their cat like reflexes and huge paw. and their blue nose has a toxin that attracts fish from 20 miles away. because of that fishermans were trying to cut their noses off but the pits had a plan to escape chile and migrated to the states like the cubans and mexicans. does that answer your question?

for all of you who are guessing you all should shut up and save your breath. red nose isnt even a breed. the name stretched off the bloodline old family redboy. but yes the nose is red and or pink. and as far as a rednose being a better fighter, that all comes with the bloodline....(colby,toney,jeep,yellow jon)so it really has nothin to do with the color unless thats all you are lookin for. and for the blue nose pits. in all the years of dog breeding its never truely been a bread. its from dog breeders mixing two bloods and getting a certain color puppy, then taking that puppy breeding it back into the same color blue or grey coated dog. after a couple breedings all your mixing is the genes were the colors overtake what most people are looking for like, size, attitude, bite, ect..... therefor all your getting is the blue colored dogs. mainly these dogs are breed for money purposes because everybody wants a blue dog. tell you the truth there is no game once so ever in them with the exception of good bloodlines. me percinally am in love with the old fassion bloods like the colby dogs or jeep and toney.

TAKE A CHOCOLATE AND A BLACK YOU MIGHT GET A BLUE. BLUES AND BLACKS DO NOT MAKE BLUES. YOU CAN GET A BLUE BY BREEDING A BLUE WITH ANY LIGHT COLOR PITS. THE BOTTOM LINE IS THEY ARE ALL PIT BULLS. NO DIFFERENT FROM EACH OTHER BUT PERSONALITIES, LIKE PEOPLE. BLUES ARE NOT USED FOR FIGHTING ONLY BECAUSE OF SCARS LOOKING UGLY. THEY ARE BETTER OFF BEING BRED FOR MONEY. THAT IS ALL. AGAIN THEY ARE ALL PIT BULLS.

TAKE A CHOCOLATE AND A BLACK YOU MIGHT GET A BLUE. BLUES AND BLACKS DO NOT MAKE BLUES. YOU MAY GET A BLUE BY BREEDING A BLUE WITH ANY LIGHT COLOR PITS. THE BOTTOM LINE IS THEY ARE ALL PIT BULLS. NO DIFFERENT FROM EACH OTHER BUT PERSONALITIES REGARDLESS TO COLORS. BLUES ARE NOT USED FOR FIGHTING ONLY BECAUSE THEIR SCARS LOOK WORSE. TOO PRETTY OF A DOG. THEY ARE BETTER OFF BEING BRED FOR MONEY. THAT IS ALL. AGAIN THEY ARE ALL PIT BULLS. REDS WERE OFFSPRINGS DROWNED BY BREEDERS IN THE 1800'S THEY WERE TOO LARGE TOO DIFFERENT AND TOO HYPER. 45 POUNDS WAS A PREFERENCE FOR FIGHTING. IN THE 1920'S REDNOSE 55 POUND "CENTIPEDE" THE CREAM OF OKLAHOMA, WHO WAS PASSED DOWN BY MANY BREEDERS, WAS KEPT BY ONE BREEDER WHO FOUND HIM THE MOST INTELLIGENT DOG HE EVER HAD AND WAS THE BEST FIGHTER EVER. ABLE TO BEAT LIGHT AND HEAVY WEIGHTS. HE GAVE REDNOSES RECOGNITION. BREEDING REDNOSES TOO MUCH TOGETHER LATER GAVE A NEW STRAIN, "BLUES" ONCE CALLED BLUEPOLLS OR BLUE PAULS NOW CALLED BLUENOSES BECAUSE OF THE PHRASE REDNOSES. A BLUE IS A CHOCOLATE SO DEEP IT BECOMES GREY AND THE LIGHTER THE GREY THE CLOSER TO REDNOSE THE DOG IS. THE DARKER THE GREY THE MORE BLUE IT IS. ANY DARKER WILL BE BLACK. THEREFORE, BREEDING BLUES WITH BLACKS WILL BRING YOU BACKWARDS. GREY IS IN THE MIDDLE AND THEREFORE RARE. BREED YOUR BLUE WITH A WHITE PIT OR BEIGE REGARDLESS TO THE COLOR OF THE NOSE. YOU WILL GET BLUES. NOT EVERY BREEDER KNOWS THIS. THAT IS WHY THEY STICK TO BREEDING BLUES WITH BLUES. THAT IS WHY THEY ARE EXPENSIVE. THAT IS YOUR ANSWER.

There is a difference. Obviously its the color of their nose and coat. Red noses have a light rusty orange to dark chocolate color coat with a darker faded pink nose and yellow eyes. A lot of famous rednose bloodlines are jeep, old-family red, china, and chanook. Blue noses can come from any breed of pits. It's just a rarity to find one. They are hard to come by and that is usually why they are more expensive. Their coat is either a light greyish-blue to a dark greyish-blue, their nose is a greyish blue also. Their eyes are most commonly yellow. They are absolutely beautiful dogs. But most agressive bloodlines that are used for pit-fighting and hog hunting etc. etc. are red nose pits. They tend to have more game and agressiveness in their bloodline.

Ok Folks Answer by CH is correct for the Reds
as far as blues go Answer by CH is also correct but in that answer follows True American Pitbulls and American Staffordshire Terriers also knowen as American Staffordshire Bull Terriers What is knowen is at one time both dog were the same dog but through years of breeding they are now two diffrent dogs Your Blues are in fact actually made up from American Staffordshire Terriers and crossing American Bulldogs and masstifs to create the Very large Block Head Dog once this size was created they then breed into the American Pit Bull Terrier and calling them Blue Pits witch is not very true
they have done wonders in the breeding but bule in not a gene with the Pitbulls it was added to create somthing knew UKC is starting to change titles for these very large dogs since they do not fall into the proper confermation of the true breed

You all are very STUPID!!! blue nose pits dont have blue noses and or whatever! lol red nose and blue nose come from thier bloodline...just like aligator p. boomerang..is usually a brindle pit. their are usually bread for fighting and are usually interbread...red nose pitbulls are usually light tan color and blue nose pitbulls are usually light or dark grey....and blues are most commonly bread for reproducing and are considered show dogs..they are the most requested line of pitbull as well..on papers they aren't even called blue nose pits or even pits they are called blue swans and they come with tripple papers

I have both a red nose and a blue nose, and yes red is a recessive gene. You can get a red pup out of two blues. I also notice a difference in build in my two dogs, the red is sleeker, while the blue is stockier and slightly more muscular. Blues and reds are the same dog APBT just a different color due to genetics.

Blue nose pitbulls are named blue nose not because their nose is blue but because when they are a pure breed their eyes are blue when they are little. Once they grow up their eyes turn gray but their pupil is still blue. Blue nose pits are not always use as show dogs. Many of my friends, including I, have blue nose pits which we fight every now and then. they have their aggressiveness in their blood so they are not used as show dogs.

The only person who answered this question that isnt a freaking schmuck is the guy who called all of you guys schmucks!!!!!!!!
The color of a pitbulls nose has nothing to do with if they are good fighting dogs or if they are meant to be bread or any other stupid ignorant answer like it think about it when a kid is born sometimes it has brown hair sometimes red sometimes blonde, Well when a puppy pit is born sometimes they have rednoses or sometimes they have blue it is that simple you can get a grade A dog with either color of nose and all pitbulls have the trait of fighting in them it is what pits were bread for do your research before answering a question you dont know idiots you are the people that should not have a pit and give this dog a bad name go buy a poodle

The difference between the two is just that color.True enough people tend to use the blues more for show and the reds more for other activities. However it still comes down to just the color is different. I have personally owned a wide range of pitbulls these two colors included and the only real difference I have seen is the way people react to the color of the dogs instead of the temperament itself.

I think that pit bulls are the greatest breed of dog. Red nose pit bulls are beautiful, but I have a blue nose male pit bull with green eyes, and he is the most gorgeous dog I have ever seen. The only difference between red and blue nose is the color of their nose and the way that they look. Their attitudes and everything else depends upon how you raise them. They are NOT fighting dogs, whoever fights their pit is stupid, and they are the reasons that they are illegal in some states.

Some of these people really need to read before they try to answer questions. Pitbull is the breed idiots. Red and Blue nose are only colors. How is a blue a show dog when show dogs are AKC registered. AKC registered dogs have to meet certain color criteria, and blue and red nose are not one of them. Also I have a tan brindle that has a blue nose and a chocolate red nose. Their breed is PITBULL not some color name!!
