I am a student at the medical faculty in Cologne,Germany. We have been working on sheep, creating 'defects' in their knee- cartilage, by stencelling/punching holes into their knee-cartilage(diameter 5mm). The idea behind this, is to see at what rate/pace cartilage can regenerate itself and close up the defect. We have photographed these defects digitally after 4weeks,3months,6months,etc. Now we need a program, better than 'photoshop' to measure out these defects, as cartilage only grows at a very slow rate. Please do advise me on a computer-program one can purchase ( commercially) that can measure areas in micrometers.
