abc - that was hardly constructive.

Computer viri can only cause data (information damage).  They have other effects, in that they can limit use of certain programs, send out copies of themselves, run resource intensive software which will slow your computer down to a crawl.

There were rumors of viri that damaged hardware - these were false.  The closest a virus can come to damaging hardware is to infect the software chips on your motherboard and corrupt them.  Many moder-day motherboards (such as Gigabyte's come with Dual BIOS - which means there are two BIOS chips, and is one becomes corrupted you can boot off the second one, and then restore the primary BIOS.  Without that though, its a new BIOS chip or motherboard.  However there are only a couple of viri that did that, and most AV software will see them a mile off.

Thank you, Hush. You were far to kind to abc, however. Only an idiot knows what an idiot is. This must rank abc very high among idiots, because apparently, abc knows what an idiot is. The only stupid question, is the question that isn't asked.

Good point there SLY. Also, abc seems to only know the first three letters of the alphabet. This must make him/her a total idiot, but, if he knows what an idiot is like you said, and he calls Froko an idiot, then Froko must also be an idiot.
