Can a counter spell counter a creature from coming out?

yes, anytime a card is put into play, with the exception of a land being played, it counts as a spell; therefore, it can be countered by a counterspell.

yes because everything is a spell when u pay mana, u can counter anything except land

Also land cannot be counted because as a plains walker the land is cast so quickly a counterspell would take effect in time to counter the mana unless the mana doesnt say land, if it's an artifact that can produce mana, that yes can be countered, although i dont know why you'd wanna waste a counterspell on a mana producer, just counter the bigger better spells.

So, when somebody puts a creature in the game and you use counter spell, does he have to put it back in his hands?

No he puts the creature in his graveyard...and that creature never came into play.

Spells are Instants, Sorcery, Creatures, Enchantments, Artifacts

Permanents are Creatures, Enchantments, Artifacts, Land

no, a counter spell can not counter a creature, because a creature is not a freaking spell. only a spell is a freaking spell, and if you think a creature is a spell you are a moron and should never be allowed to play this game ever again. and i hate you
