Does anyone out there have a problem with their Dodge Stratus's engine racing forward or idling on high after exiting from a highway; going from high speeds to a complete stop and engine does not idle down but keeps racing?

Have you checked the air temperature sensor? I had one go on my 2003 Stratus SXT sedan and it idled at 4000 rpm.

Your air intake temperature sensor that is located on your air intake hose has broke! It is more than likely trapped in your throttle.  Clear the broken piece and replace with new sensor!
