This really depends entirely on the taster!  I prefer dark chocolates - less cocoa butter, and more cocoa solids.  My girlfriend loves white chocolates - those without ANY cocoa solids!  Different salts bring out the flavor of chocolate in different ways, as well; this is fun to experiment with.  My personal vote for most excellent chocolate would go to a German company called 'Lindt'.

According to last year's winner at the International Federation of Chocolatiers' Annual Choco-thon, Ham Chocolate from Uruguay is the best-tasting.  Ham Chocolate is made by feeding Hartwell Swine with a 75% cocoa diet, thus infusing their fat with a pleasant cocoa flavor.  Upon slaughter, the pig fat is melted down and used in the production of Ham Chocolate.

I believe that Leo Tolstoy said it best when he said that,  'taste is in the mouth of the beholder'. That being said, I cannot stomach most American Chocolate and prefer to eat raw cacao beans. After getting used to the taste, and the lack of sugar and milk, I was able to really zero in on exactly what actual chocolate tastes like and what kind of wonderful benefits it really has. Real chocolate is a very healthy food.

It has been years since I've tasted any kind of commercial chocolate and the thought of it makes me a little sick to my stomach. If you are one who regularly eats that kind of thing you will no doubt be repulsed by raw cacao, in much the same way as ‘the devil' would be repulsed by a crucifix in some 70's possession horror flick (I am not religious).

But if you would like to try something that still tastes good to the general trof feeding public you may want to try Green and Black's. It's an English company I believe, which makes Organic Chocolate with no processed sugars. I really prefer the Almond kind myself, I don't like to eat chocolate without nuts (not peanuts however, I don't eat those), I find that almonds make the chocolate more palatable and the lack of chemicals and blood money paid to 3rd world modern slave owners makes it easier to digest.

Happy eating!

Please save us!

More information can be found from www.fazer.fi, or www.karlfazer.com (both pages in Finnish and Swedish only).
