I am a license cosmetologist and I'd like to start applying henna tattoos. I need to know all I can about them. What the Texas law permits on age and such. And info on how to get started. Thanks, Pam

I'm not an expert on henna but i have seen some truly angry looking infections caused by black henna gust a word of caution

there is no such thing as "black henna" if a product is labeled that way it is a lie, not actually henna and actually a dangerous chemical regularly used in third world countries as a preservative and also as a pesticide. Henna is made from natural plant pigments and can only achieve a deep brown at the darkest. (the paste may appear black but the dyed skin will never be black with true henna)

Pam, for information on how to get started, as well as a well documented set of risks (such as the aforementioned black henna) visit www.hennapage.com.  It's where I learned everything that I know.  As far as Texas law, I live here too but there aren't any official laws regarding henna because technically henna for body art use is not legal.  However, there is a peer organization that certifies henna artists as safe.  Visit http://www.icnha.org/mambo/.

I AM OF INDIAN  DECENT ALL THE WOMEN OF OUR HOUSE HAVE HENNA TATTOOS THEY ARE QUITE BEAUTIFUL. WE DID TRAVEL ALONG WAY TO GET OURS DONE. WE COULD NOT FIND ANYONE CLOSE TO HOME SO I AM GLAD YOU ARE LOOKING INTO THIS PRACTICE. I WISH OTHER PEOPLE WOULD TOO .
