hi, i rlly rlly want mi belly button pierced for xmas. my mum is thinking on it as she allowed my sista 2 have hers done. problem is.... my parents r separated and my dad says he will chuck us out of his house if he finds out we have any piercings or tatoos. he still hasn't discovered my sistas and she had hers done 3 yr ago. should i take the risk of losing my dads trust? its my body and i think i should be allowed to do what ever i want with my body. i am 13 yrs old. i have learnt how to care for my body through contact lenses as i wear contacts and they take an awful lot of hygene and care. plz reply ppl. i think your sista is capable of looking after her body cos at the age of 10+ you start to learn that caring for your body is important and its an age that you start respecting the person you are. luv yaz all hanz xxx

You shouldnt get ANYTHING pierced without your parents knowing! they will find out, for example if you go to the doctor and they see a piercing they will ask your parents about it believe me but if you insist on getting it done now you should do some research, go online and get info. Get the facts about aftercare and healing times then talk to your parents, tell them why you want it done (it shouldnt be because your friends have it done or you want to be cooler and make your friends jealous, it should be for you)It doesnt really hurt. Make sure you check out the piercing salon and ask to see their portfolio or a photo album (most have them). Just be careful and make sure you're ready for the commitment of having to clean it three times a day for at least four months!

Hey I'm Emily and i want to get my belly button pearced somtime soon and I asked my parents they said no at fist than they said yeh so like u have to take care of it for 6-8 weeks and u have to calean it twice a day me and my to best friends Brooke, and Miranda r planing to get it done together sometime soon. And for those who don't think it's cool at my school after we get it done it's goin to be the bomb so lets just say their is no age to get ur belly button pearced but just Know u have to take care of it... P.S. I hope that all of u who want to get ur belly button pearced won't chinken out cus u will love it once u get it. LOVE ~^@Emily@^~

hey gurls, i recently got my belly done (about 3 weeks ago). it hurt a bit and a bit after to. i think you do really need to be ready to take care for it. i wash my with sea salt water twice a day. mines red at the moment and has been like that for about a week but it's perfectly normal (your body is just getting used to a foreign object in ur body) my friends say it is infected but i went back to the place i got it done, they said it's fine. when it is infected it gets all green and pussie and sort of blows up. if ya have any worries u should go back to the place u got it done. and as for swimming while it is healing, u can't go swimming in chlorine for at least a month afterwords but going swimming in the sea would do way more good then harm because it's salt. ok bye byes for now ppl. p.s i hope i have helped a lot of u guys xoxoxox

guys getting ur belly pierced is a serious thing. i can't stress to u how important it is to think about it before getting it done. it should be for ur self benefit not because you just want to "fit in" or "be cool". i takes responsibility. u can't just get it done without u 'rents knowing either. thats betraying their trust. and when they do find out and believe me they will, u'll be in for it big time!!! and u might not have as much trust left. talk to u 'rents about it first and say somethings like "i understand that i need to take responsibility for it and i will, i do want to get it done." make sure they know how u feel and ask what they feel about it. if they make u wait that will add to ur excitement but please don't get it done with out your 'rents knowing sezzalou

Hey ma name is Kelly and I know alot of people like and want to av Der navel pierced! I am 12 cumin up 4 13 soon and i rly rly want ma navel pierced,ma mom said i can get it done in tha 6 weeks holiday because if it gets infected i havent got 2 go skool wev tha 'INFECTION'madad said i can have it done to but he doesnt like all tha piercings on tha other part of tha body lol!! 'ITS MA BODY.... ma mom 'n' dad said you can av it done but keep it 'CLEAN' so u risk tha chance of a 'infection' I do understand ma parents but they av also gota unda-stand you 2!! I mean alot of people at tha age of 12 'n' 13 sum younger av already got der navel pierced 'IM LIKE WAT WHY?? I am a professional body piercer and if your mom will let her do it then "get er done" It takes two months of cleaning it with dial antibacterial soap (the liquid kind) and then you can change it. you however still have to clean it 3 times a day for 6 months and the only way you will have a scar is if it rips out, which will only happen if you are very careless (if done right they are very hard to rip out) or if it is not pierced thick enough so you have to be very careful where you get it done. And HANDS OFF unless cleaning it because it will get it infected. and never do it your self. look at it this way, if that is how you got your food when you were in your mom's stomach then there has to be something important in there, so got it done professionally. well, good luck!

hey all you gurls that got your belly pierced. I got my belly pierced about a year ago and it was the worst experience ever. getting my bellybutton pierced was the biggest mistake ever. when I went in to get my bellybutton pierced they layed me down in this little room. They wanted me to feel comfortable. They then took some clamps and then took a huge needle. they numbed my button also. they took the needle and stuck it through and it hurt like hell. they numbed it and it still hurt. what a big difference that did though. when I went home I took the shortest shower because as soon as I got in it stung. whenever I cleaned my bellybutton it stung. about 3 weeks later a bubble like thing started to appear. it was a really bloody bubble but when I asked my friends about it they said that it was normal but I didn't think so. About a year later my skin started to stick to the bellybutton ring and I couldn't get it out. I had to go to the hospital and had to go into plastic surgery. I would like to encourage all of you to get it done because this effect that I had may have been an effect that was tolerated by my body. But maybe it wasn't.

Ok first of all, Everyone's body is different. Personally, getting mine pierced didnt hurt me, but of coarse it was uncomfortable. For everyone who is worried about if it hurts to get it done, you'll only find that out when the needle is going through your skin. Everyone's body is different. As far as caring for your bellybutton, its no impossible task but, its not only about cleaning it. You can wash it and keep it perfectly clean and still get a random infection. So for everyone who's contimplating whether to get it or not, think about the risks and if your up for it. And for people willing to pierce their own belly button, im sorry but you have to be insane. Its a proven fact that piercing your NOSE by yourself is safer then doing your own belly button. If your parents don't let you get it done, just get over it, dont be an idiot and do it yourself.

Well, im 13 n i got my bb done bout 2 weeks ago mi mum knos but my dad cnt find out till nxt may :s. My mum was quit drunk wen she asked me if i wanted it dne, but i werent complain, it took me nearly 4 years 2 convince er 2 let me av it @ 13.It took my mum ages 2 find a place th@ wud do it unda 14, my mum ad 2 cum n i jst ad 2 fill in a form n thy dd it, but i aint very gd wiv pain, n the lady th@ dd it ddnt numb it or nethng she jst drew the holes, klamped it (which hurt!!) thn put the needle thru it f*kin killed!!!!!! i felt dizzy n ad 2 sit dwn, i cudnt sit up str@ 4 bout 3hrs n i even limped around 4 bout an hr coz we stayed in town afta but now its gr8 i wash it everyday n it abit red but it dnt hurt or nethng :-) im soo glad i got it done, no regrets. ~ Bagtats *~ xxxxxxxx

Hiya, i'm 14 and i have been tryin 2 covince my mum 2 let me get my belly done for a while now and in the beginning it was a simple "no!" Now i have got her 2 agree and somehow managed 2 get her into the Piercing studio. We went to check it out because all my friends who have had their's done went there, and they said it was really clean and hygenic. (by the way the place is called Bananas Body Peircing and it is in Basildon Shopping centre, incase any of you live near it) Anyway i got there and there was another lady having hers done and i could faintly hear her. She wasn't screaming, it was sort of a moan or something but it still freaked me out. After it was over she seemed very pleased and everything.. but i h8 the thought of needles and stuff going in2 my skin. I really want mine done and i know i will have 2 conquer my fears or wateva.. but wern't u guys scared wen u were lying there and your peircer was about 2 jab a needle into you? Plz reply and tell me your side.. Gabz

I can't believe how much stupidity i have read in this. You are a 12 year old and think you can take care of yourself properly enough, you probably don't even have a shower every day. Talk to your parents. If they have a reason for not letting you then find it out, don't just go behind their backs. If you can't even own up to your own responsibilities and talk to your parents then you are not able to get a piercing. How do you think they are going to feel when they find out you did this behind their backs? Don't complain that you can't get a piercing because you get a "C". What grade are you in, 8? I can get an "A" average in grade twelve and i am consulting my parents on all the piercings i wish to get. Try being smart for once instead of doing stuff to go with the croud.

Okay, for all the people who want it done without your parents knowing, it depends where you live. I live in New York, and i got mine done in manhattan. They gave me a titanium barbell and it healed fine! It is a hassle though to care for it. 3-4 times a day for 6 months. And I'm use to getting dressed or trying on clothes with (in front) of my mom. But now, it's kind of hard, because i don't want her to see my piercing. It kind of separated us from spending some "quality" time together because i always feel like i have to be extra cautious before she finds it. So, if your planning on getting it done without your parents knowing, there are consequences. Of course, i just got it done a week ago. So maybe after 6 months ill b able to take it out and go shopping once again with my mom. =)

Listen, I have gone to quite a few shops, and I'm working on getting my piercing license. The reason a shop doesn't (and really shouldn't) pierce someone under 15 or 16 is that one, you're not NEARLY finished growing and two, most of the time, you're no responsible enough to maintain the piercing. I got my bellybutton done when I was 16, and it took months and months to heal. It's a fact. And shops use hoops instead of barbells because they're SUPPOSED to. If they say they can give you a barbell, get OUT OF THAT SHOP. They're not giving half a crap about the customers. A captive hoop (or bead hoop) is put in first because you can clean the piercing better with that in and you can rotate the piercing properly. My piercing guy (who works and owns Lake Geneva Tattoo and actually works with the health board to make it more difficult for the half assed shops to obtain a license) would be completely appalled by someone insisting on a barbell as an initial piercing piece. Anyway, the bellybutton. First off, no place should EVER numb you. Pain is the only way to know they're doing something WRONG. So, they should never numb you. That's the same thing as when they do a tongue piercing. The only way to know something is going awry is if the piercee is going "Ow OW OW! It hurts!", because a needle initially piercing flesh does not hurt. It may hurt AFTER the fact, but never during. When I got my bellybutton done, I didn't even know he had put the needle in. Cartilage is a whole different story though. But your bellybutton (or other fleshy area) goes into shock when you get pierced. All the adrenaline in your body starts to flow and it really won't hurt until about 2 or 3 days afterwards. Then it may puff up a bit and turn red. That's normal. Everyone I know has had this happen. It happened with my bellybutton, my nipples, and all my ear piercings. You do need to keep it clean and take care of it for MONTHS though. Even if it looks "fine" KEEP UP WITH THE CLEANING! Anyways, in closing, I don't believe a 12 year old should get a major fleshy body area pierced until they're a little older, just so they're done growing and can take care of the piercing properly. okay, ill be fourteen in like 15 days. and anyway, i got my bellybutton done like four months ago i think? andd it was fine for the first couple months, i cleaned it properly, didnt play with it a lot.. and it was fine. but about a month ago, when i got back from dominican.. i got this weird bump next to the top hole. it didnt really hurt, kinda jsut a bump in my skin? it went away, but then came back worse, a month or so later, it still here :\| .. i dont know what to do. its really gross and its summer! i go to the beach liek everyday and now i hate showing people my bellybutton ring cause the stupid bubble. does ANYONE have any idea what i should do or use?? should i try the sea salt thing?? or is there anything else to use?? should i go to my doctor or back to the peircing place?! please helppp, i really dont wanna take it out!! my email is justeen_m@hotmail.com .. add me or email me!!

Im a mum of two teenage daugthers both 14 now. I let my girls have thier navels pierced when they were 13. I had been against the idea for a while but my daughters seemed very keen and i didn't want to put up a fight with them. They had found sights about it and i knew it would make them happy. I have to admit it looks very nice and perhaps now i have realised i was wrong about it. As long as your daugther is mature enough to look after it i don't think there is any reason why they can't have it done. However i left it until the end of summer so it would be able to heal perfectly for next summer. I realised that it was their body and that by the age of 13 they were mature enough to have it done. They clean it as supposed to and neither have been infected. I am glad it can be covered up for times when its not necessary but i feel proud that i let them. They still get their very high grades and the piercing hasn't changed them one bit. I am very proud of them for looking after it so well. I urge parents in my situation to listen to your children and perhaps realise that this is the modern day and that they are mature enough from the age of 12-13. ( don't get the wrong impression about my girls. They are friends with lovely girls and are certainly not badly behaves) I hope this is useful!

Hey, I am 15, gonna be 16 soon. I want to get my belly pierced, but the thing is: A: I don't want to feel intense pain, I am a huge wuss, not really. Like the thoughts leading up to it makes me think that it is gonna hurt like I just got shot with a bullet, and I was wondering, how bad does it actually hurt? Like can anyone describe it? I really really really want to know before I get it done. B: I live with my grandma, I have a crap load of family problems with my mom, and my dad. They are divorced, and I know NONE of them would talk to me about this, I just recently moved in with my grandma, I have my birth certificate. But, my grandma's boyfriend has to talk me... will that work? I really want to know about the pain one the most, lol. It has been bugging me so bad, please tell me! Post or e-mail me. heyguyz when ur younger than 25 u should be really careful gettin ya navel peirced... around when u turn 14 ur body is changeing and u are getting taller and ur hips r expanding... if u get ur navel done b4 ur body is finished growing there is a high chance that as u get taller the ring/bar will grow out and leave u with a scar... all u girls that are 10 11 12 and 13 r probably gonna regret getting it done... u nite laugh and say 'yeh rubbish' now but think about the long term effects... when u get older do u want a scar? just think about it b4 u get it done! piercing places should warn young girls about such thingz but they're more interested in your money! im a proffesional peircist so i do no what im on about!

ok well i had mine done wen i was 11 years old and i had it for months and i was the first person in my year to get it done so people kept coming to me for advice so im sure i can help. It doesn't at all infect your lesson in games just make sure you dont wear tight tops, expose it to dirt or bacteria and wen playing games put a plaster across your belly button bar so it don't get ripped out. I've had my belly button pierced twice and it doesn't hurt at all, some people numb your belly before piercing and some people just get on with it. Make sure you clean your belly button bar twice a day mayb 3 times and afterwards dry it with a hair dryer... trust me you need to, you can either use sea salt, table salt, or saline soloution for what you use with your contact lenses. I would advise you to leave your belly button bar in for 12 to 16 weeks before taking it out and changing it. Do not go swimming for a very long time due to all the bacteria there, at least once a day clean your belly button area with anti-bacterial soap, thats all for now but i will be writing more soon thank you and hope your belly button bar looks sweet and glamerous

Hello. I'm 14 and getting muh navel done on Sunday :P I only have 4 other piercings [My ear lobes and twice at the top of my right ear] However, I plan on getting loads more!xD At the moment I want two more on my ear lobes. Ah yes, and I [REALLYREALLYREALLY] want snake bites. My parents wont let me get them till I'm 16 but hey, I'm getting muh navel pierced so there! :P Just thought I'd share that with yooh. <3 OHHHH RIGHT, the question [LMFAO] Yea, my parents never would have agreed for me to get it done at 12. OK, as an experienced peircer/peircee I know things about peircings. No you can not go swimming with new navel peircings, at least not for the first 4 months. Secondly, in the U.S shops are really not supposed anyone under 14 (even with parental consent). Third the legal age for no parents is 18 although some shops allow 17. Next, navel piercings take 6 months to a year to heal. You can get peirced with barbells and they are actually safer than rings. (if any shop says you can only use rings, run!!!) I got my navel standard and inverse done at 19. They are pretty much painless so if you are of age go for it! Oh and you need ID'snot neccessarily bc's to get peirced. you must have same last name and address on the ID'sand if you don't have the same last name explain why. Hope I was of some help

I'm 14 and i would love 2 get ma belly pierced! Ma mum said i could but she wants 2 c ma performance around the house change like clean up and stuff!! But my bro promised me he'll take me on sat! (ma bro is 24!) But anyways i live in Malta and u don't need a parent with u all the time coz i no the guy hu does the piercings! His name is famous 4 piercing'sand tatoo's(bobby) i did ma nose just a week and a half ago! it looks gr8! but im scared 2 do ma belly!! Im scared it will hurt! Nd dat it will get infected! nd wat if it hurts 2 clean it!!! Btw gr8 tip on cleanin piercing's..... contact lense solution!! ITS GR8!! ma friends got infected and she used it and it totlly healed! nd i use it on ma nose piercing 2!! U can swimm if its the sea! But not in a pool coz of the chlorine! in malta its: Lm15 wid out the belly-ring! nd if u have it from b4 its just lm5!! xx yaz xx

alright just to let you know, my older sister got her navel pierced about 4 years ago and she said it didn't hurt. Don't think that because one person says it didn't hurt then it's not going to hurt you because people have different bodies! I'm getting my belly button pierced in two weeks and i just can't wait. By the way, age doesn't matter you just need a parent with you. I think that you should do it if you can handle the responsabilities that come with the piercing, otherwise you will get an infection and your stomach is going to look all weird. By the way for all you girls who want to do it without your parents knowing, newsflash! your parents will find out because if you wear a bathing suit or even a shirt, you can still see the ring. Well anyways, you guys should think about it carefully and you should do it because YOU want to not because all of your friends have it done. Okay im done now. Good luck to all of you. Oh and for smiley; i think you should let your sister do it. Take her to a safe and professional tattoo or piercing shop, it'll turn out great. P.S- If you get your navel pierced at 12-15 it is not going to make your body look weird later on in life because not everyone's body stretches out. Listen I got a pitchfork stuk through my foot, no its not as bad as Im making it seem it cut a thing layer off the bottom of my foot and it vut me so fast I felt nothing..then after if stung for awhile but It was a mild sting. So Im thinking if a ptichfork didnt hurt me then a belly button poercing wont. ITS NOT HARD TO TAKE CARE OF..two of my friends have them one didnt clean it 3x a day with slat water or anything then she ripped it out. My other friend has had hers for a month and its healed completly and looks GREAT and she cleaned it 3x a day if you clean it and take care of it..it wont be a problem Im 12 ill be 13 in November and as soon as I get the money and find a place my mom is taking me to get mine shes getting hers as well, my aunt has her also..so the needle is probablly going to go in so fast it dosent hurt..if a pitchfork didnt hurt me a simple needle wont..and from reading how it feels like a shot Im feeling better about this.

Like i said to the other girl who wrote, your sister probably couldn't take care of an animal. A navel piercing is one of the most hardest piercings to take care of because you have to take care of it for six months to two years cleaning it two to three times a day. Make her wait until she's willing to commit.

shut up lightning! ive got my belly done and u need to look after it for like 3-6 months. just dont touch it heaps... otherwise it'll get infected. just use earring spray (you know that disinfectant stuff) like twice a day and it'll be sweeeeeeeeeet!

Hi, i'm 12 and i have had mine done. you have to look after it for 4 months before you can take it out and change it. you have to clean it twice a day with sea salt water or a disinfectant spray. i had mine done at Susan birds, and they numb your belly with a freeze spray then pierce it. It takes about a second and after the freeze has worn off you cant feel anything. After a few days it might start itching but leave it. I recommend you take whatever you've got in there out, and use sea salt water to heal it up. Then go to a professional salon. Mine only cost Ł30 to have a 9ct gold bar put in. So i recommend going to professional. I hope this has helped, Gem xx

hi... i got my navel pierced n its quite easy to maintain it as long as u noe how to... thats all. just keep it clean and off from bacteria n dirt and ure fine... i think ur sis can handle that easy stuff cos its a simple as taking a shower!!

i have had my belly button bared lol for 7 years now. if you think you can handle it sure get it done but you got to think of how much care you have to put into it washing it every night never forgetting about it. and plz plz make sure you want it becoz i got it done but the people never tell you the horror behind them. i had my belly button done 4 years and one night i was clubin and one of me m8s riped it out not on perpose but it happend it took half a year to clean up. but then i got it done agian for 3 lovly years lol but honst you got to think and now if you can look after it. Im getting my belly button done for an xmas present.It took me 3 1/2 yrz to brib my mom into letting me.Plus you have to have a parent with you and a birth certificate wen you get it done so i doubt you can get it done w/o yer mom know unless u do it yerself...and i wouldnt do that cuz no matter what it will get infected and leave horrible scarring...belive me i did mine myself 3 times and none were succesful. love. ~Shannon~

Hey. I just recently got my belly button pierced. I'm 13 and we had to call a lot of places before i found one that would do it. I've only had it for like a week or two and I don't really even clean it anymore but its fine and doesn't hurt. I just spray Bactine on it once a day. They didn't numb it before they pierced it. It was really painful so make sure you can tolerate pain!

hey i am sarah...i am 15 and i want a navel piercing for x-mas...i am sort of hesitant about it due to the fact i hear 50% of piercings do become infected...i don't want a scar there for the rest of my life...nor do i want to be in the hospital due to infection what should i do??

I'm 21 and I've not had mine done. I can bend my thumbs a full 90 degrees backwards though, thats not very normal. My tongue will not only roll up like loadsa people can do but i can rotate it a full circle and back again.

I just got my belly button done today. It hurt a little when I got it done and just a little bit afterwards, but now it's fine. I was in a lot of pain when I had to clean it and turn it because the soap stung. But now it's fine. Oh and if you're 13, you can't get it done without parental consent.

ok well its not always true that u have to have a birth cirtificat (how ever u spell that)i got mine done 4 my 13 b-day and its doing ok!!! like it 4 urself not 4 ur friends ok..well i had my moms x boyfriend take me he rocks this world and im not that sure if they pierced streight but u cant tell.. like all of u have said it does take alot of caring u have to treat it like a baby u cant change its diper unless its done... meaning like ur belly button!!!! people that have it done good luck people that dont have fun!!! always confused_prom_queen

Lightening, shut up, it doesn't matter the age, it matters the maturity level, i'm 12 and have had mine done for 2 months, i say, if your little sister wants it done that bad, then go for it, as long as your parents agree and don't mind her getting it done and make sure the piercer explains to her how to take care of it..:-P

I have had my belly button pierced for 6 weeks now. I am 13 going on 14, soon. I can answer some of your questions. It takes 3-6 months for it to heal you can change it after 6-8 weeks I got a barbell for my first belly button piercing I know someone who got her bellybutton pierced when she was 10, so 12 isn't a young age

I think that if your sister wants it badly she should be allowed I got mine done at 12 and 2 years later it looks great. IF she wants it done that badly she should understand the risks which I'm sure she does and accept that she is going to have to clean it 2-3 times a day and i think it's good for her to learn responsibility at a younger age.

hey, ME. That is EXACTLY me story, My mom said yes, and my dad said no because he doesn't want me to get an infection and have to go to the hospital. My cartilage piercing I got done last march on the 23rd and it's FINE but if i like hit it or keep touching it it gets puffy and red and it hurts and that's why my dad won't let me get my belly done I need help too!!! I really want it done and I can take care of it!!!!!!!!!!!!! I g2b
