Ivory mask doesn't prevent you from playing mana. Ivory mask prevents the person who casts it from being the target of spells and/or abilities. Playing mana doesn't affect this because you aren't technically targeting yourself; your just putting a land into play.

A spell has the use the word "target" to be considered a targeted spell. Any other spell that does not use the word target will not be stopped by ivory mask.

Plus playing a land is not a spell and does not use the stack.
