we adopted three "barnyard" Siamese kittens this last fall, since our aged kitty household has been falling apart (we still have 2 survivors in the 14-19 yr range)  All cats can come and go through an outside door and since we live way out in the country, all have exposure to coons, foxes, skunks, possums and the usual suspects for critters in the wild and they are all protected as best we can for Rabies, heartworm etc....

The new additions are typical crazy kittens and now onto teenager status...and have had all their correct series of shots and exams and everything poke and prod that they need...but the one male...Chaos...that has the most Siamese showing (Bluepoint) began to wobble a bit and lose weight around his hips, so we took him in.  Tested pos for FIP in two of the three "triad" indicators and we now have him back at home...he eats and purrs and wanders about but just isn't "on", as one would expect as he fights this off...if indeed it is FIP.  But the big Q is...since he has had daily contact with all the other cats for over 6 mos in daily activities...from toilet to eating to grooming...does it now make sense to quarantine him?  Will this now do anything to protect the others?  Or is it far to late for that...and do we now just monitor the rest of the tribe to see what lay in store for them?  And, as an aside, we also have pet ferrets....anyone know if this thing can cross that species boundary...or if any research has been conducted along those lines yet?  Thanks!!!
