I feel that rap music has a positive and a negative effect on young people. The positve is the right to be creative and show your heritage. It is also very educational and hits you with politics. Look at Jadakiss "Why". Then you look at NWA artist and see that they are gangsta and have everything and a lot of young people want that. That is what makes it negative but they do have a choice. Nobody is putting a gun to their head and telling to become a gangsta. So you can look at it in both ways.

I think that rap music is great. Unlike pop, rock, and country music, rappers tell it like it is. They speak the truth. They don't try to sugar coat stuff like Brittany Spears or Yellowcard. Rappers don't ACT like life is all great and easy when you're a singer. They basically give blacks a voice. Even though Eminem ain't black, he understands us, so I think that rap is very GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i think its trash. it pollutes young minds. noodle girl doesnt even know why she listens to it. "teenager" is not an excuse. all they say its trash about "killing homies, slaping hoes, getting wasted ,high, ro doing sex its nothing but trash.

depending on what rap you listen to, rap is a very powerfful art. I tend to listen to more hip hop than rap, but it, both, educates me of others lives and shows me how lucky I am to be where I am. Anyone that says rap is worthless and doesnt have a meaning needs to sit down for 5 minutes and listen, ACTUALLY LISTEN, to some lyrics in much of hip hop. If they then leave feeling as though it isnt a powerful and important message then they have a lot more to worry about in life than music.

i think this young teenagers are just trying to find an excuse per say. they do not know their own personality and rely on rap. rap is just a waste of music with lyrics that would make a person vomit . they have nothing better to do. their stupidity is turning young people into. unemployed relentless losers same as those rappers out there

Kenny, 'what has your question to does with anything?' Learn to write my friend before you even think of listening to rap, since that won't make it any better. Oh, and the answer is obvious: if you listen to rap, your soul will go to Hell. There, now try not to think too much anymore.

Rap music can have both a positive and negative effect on people...if your emotionally stable enough to undesrtand the difference between fact and fiction..rap is great..if not it can have a negative effect on ones perception of reality.

rap utilizes techno beats that have been proven to induce an alpha state. when the music is combined with lyrics the lyrics attain an influence on our subconscious thoughts leading its listeners to more violent tendencies.

it really depends on the type of rap music. some can be used to reach people who listen to it with something positive - it can make them think, while other stuff is junk and can put the wrong ideas into their heads

i think rap is the downfall of our youth of today. it is bad, and talks about improper things for people to hear, no matter what age. and, no matter what the audience intended, children in grade school listen to it too. our world would be better if all the rap artists died.

Rap music today is very outrageous. It is killing the youth espeically. Why do you think people are dying so quickly? Everytime on the news you hear somebody has died because of gun shots or rape, or whatever the case maybe this all happened because of music. How music only talk's about sex, drugs, money, and who they got beef with. All of this because of music. This really started because of Satan. He has the gift of music. And how he is trying to attack us is by music.

what is important is to not blame the rappers who escape these bad living conditions to make music...but to look deeper and blame these white folk that have the game plan all written out...blame them for not letting african people succeed, and prosper in this world...which leads africans to doing the things we do, and experiancing this hard life that we do..which is what we talk about in our music. What effects our young people is lack of knowledge, lack of knowledge of how to escape the grip of the white man. not music...if anything music helps us embrace our culture, and understand things more. African people need to give our young people more hope, and knowledge about this world and its ways in order for the next generations to survive. im just 20 years old, and thats real talk....my black people need to step up and learn that education needs to be handled at home cause in these white people schools, they teaching us they game plan...that they got written.its a conspiracy for african folks. check that.

I would say it depend pretty much how you were raised as a child. Some peopole are influence pretty bad by music Drug sex and killing  other people on the other hand are inspire by it

I do like rap music...I believe that it is entertaining and interesting to listen to...but it does negatively effect our culture and how we perceive things.  Many of us like to think that we are individuals who carry our own set of characteristics...but then again who developed these characteristics?  It's the media that plays a big role in our social and self development.  Boys and girls are becoming more violent, while girls are also becoming more promiscuous.  We can ask why this is...but it is so obvious that what we are influenced by affects how our actions, thoughts, and style, and thinking...  Lets be real about this...rap has a negative effect on our future generations, and there really is no way to stop it

i am spider man but rap music is really cool. I sometimes get inspiration from rap music. Sometimes when I am down it gets me up. Rap music consistly remains me life isn't perfect but it can be good. That is what keeps me going.

Well I'm doing a research paper right now about music...not just rap but all types and I feel rap music can affect a kid in many ways just like all other music. Their is no way to say the effects on young people or even older people it is all based on the person. Some people would just laugh and say music does not effect them, while other people would feel music effects them in a huge way. So, in the end my answer is it depends on the person.
