WOW, Its difficult to imagine the stupidity you acted under when posting this question, you see you've allready hinted that you've looked at some part of Physical Geology but apparently didn't pay much attention, you see the Earth has undergone MANY ice age<S>, not just ONE silly: 1.)Positive Feedback 2.)Milankovitch Cycles 3.)Continental Configurations The com·bi·na·to·ri·al situation involving these 3 geological states describe <Each> Ice Age the Earth undergoes. I will now allow you to research these three particular topics on your own, if you can handle that much at one time.

i think that there is no real explanation for this question and i think that it is impossible for anyone to find out what caused the ice age because no one was even around then so we just have to go off the evidence and the facts but at the end of it all no one really knows what happened to cause the ice age!!
