My 92' 5 speed Jetta with 279,000b kilometers has bad idle quality on deceleration to the point of almost stalling and stalling. I have been to the wreckers and exchanged several idle stabilizer units without much success. Are there any other areas I should be looking for to correct the problem?

I was accually looking for someone to buy my jetta but i came across this and i had to answer, im only 19 and im part mech. and part auto repair tech., first i had the same problem with mine and i did a number of things to it and nothing happened but for these jettas they're pretty tricky, did you change gas? did you make sure the throttle body is not cracked, worped or bent, or maybe something in your fuel injectors could be clogged or bad, maybe something more mechanical too, like in rare cases it could be one of your pistons are firering lower or higher then the others, check your spark plugs make sure they're still good, and it could maybe be your alternator too, im not really sure what else it would be but im willing to help you out if you have any more ?'s, as a matter of fact, im going to play with my jetta today to try to see if i can get it running maybe you could help me, I know its got a good knock in the engine and i think i might still be able to save it before she blows, but i know timings off, has low compression, and my distibutor cap is broken so im gonna try to fix those today, any suggestions? if the engine blows i will hand down any peices you need if you still need them, thanx, kevin.... bleedingvictory0911@yahoo.com
