You warm an egg by either getting an incubator (which is the easiest way) or you can just keep it on a hot pad that is not to hot and not to cold and you have to rotate it daily.

I found an egg sort like that once. It was a ringneck pheasent egg. Hope that helps

I think you should just keep them in a warm place, preferably a heat-pad of some sort, but make sure its warm, not hot. Every day rotate it, as said above, and make sure they're in a well protected space. I think you'll have to do this for a few weeks.

Good luck.

My friend found a birds egg, we don't know how old it is or anything. How can we tell, and how can you tell if the bird is still alive?

I took it inside and put it in a shoe box, in a nest i found a few years ago, all lined with tissues and put it under a light. Is this good enough to keep it alive? What else would i have to do? Do you know why type of bird it is? How do i know if it is still alive? Thank you for your help!

First you must make sure there is no mother...if you are positive there is no mother, you must take it inside imidiatly, eggs will die if they are in the cold too long. Dont wait to see if another bird comes to take care of them they usually cant be left alone for more than 24 hours or sometimes 2 days. You can check if its fertile by turning off all the lights, washing your hands througly and holding the egg under a flashlight in a dark room. You can ussually tell if the egg is fertile because you will see a small embrio and some red veins like a spiderweb running thoughout the egg. If you do not see this right away do not be alamed or disapointed. Sometimes it takes a week for you to be able to se inside the egg. Keep it in an incubator at 99.5 degrees or on a hot pad (a hot pad is not the best way). look up the characteristics of the egg so you can find out what kind it is. If the egg begins to smell or turn black it has died. Make sure to keep it in a warm place at all times. ( if you see the nest nearby dont take it...only take the egg(s) sometimes magits are indie the nest and they can kill the tiny egg. just put the egg in some sofe cotton or in a small bowl with cotton or cashmere balls around it. GOOD LUCK..dont give up on the egg...it might still be alive

I have a bit of a problem. You see, I found a birds egg in my garage a few days ago and I've been keeping an eye on it, and the mother is no where in sight. I think my cat might have eaten it :(. I was wondering if there was anything I could do to help the egg. it is light brown with darker brown spots.

Well I have the same problem. Except its kinda weird... I found an egg at the end of my street just sitting there on a post. I think I saw one bird nest wwwaaayyy up real high on a tree but I can't be sure. I didn't see a dead bird, but then again, I didn't look real hard, I wanted to just get it home and help it. I think it may have gotten run over (the bird) When crossing the road with the egg, and the egg stumbled forward. But I've had it for about 12 days now. I think mines a dove egg too, because we don't have any chickens around here, or ducks, or bluejays/cardnails and its too small the be a hawlk egg.

I'm keeping my dove egg in a heatproof box with a light taped to the top and sometimes a heating pad if it starts getting cold. Just keep it on low and if your going to use the heatingpad, don't use the light and the pad at the same time unless its winter or something.

All you have to do is place the eggs in a secluded box, most likley with a cover. You must put a thermomiter in the box and a light shining on it to keep the temeperature between 90-102 degrees which keeps the egg warm. Just keep it in the upright position and line the box with somthing comfortable and set the smaller end up. You should spray some water in there every once in a while for humidity and rotate the eggs 3 times a day.

Thats what I did and my egg is alive.

To find out if an egg is alive wait about 7 days. Then take the egg and a flashlight into a dark room and hold the flashlight under the egg, Rotate the egg in your hand looking for veins or a big dark circle at the top of the egg. If you see them, then its alive.

Good luck everyone, and don't drop your eggs :^)
