My husband and I have adopted a puppy that was told to us is an American Bull Terrier and Boxer mix. I have been looking on the internet for information about American Bull Terriers, and American Pit Bull Terriers keeps on coming up. We were told that this puppy (Zoee) is not a pit bull, but a whole different breed. Could you please let me know if this is true. I am interested because I would like to know the background of this dogs breed for training purposes, and such things as being around our children and our other dog (Sky) which is a full breed yellow Labrador. I would appreciate any help or refrence you could give me. Thank you, Jaimie Samburgh

Try dropping the "American" and just do a search on Bull Terrier.

Go the AKC breed page and look under the breed types, they are under terrier.

Make no mistake, American Bull Terriers like American Staffordshire Terriers and American Pit Bull Terriers share some common ancestry...then again most dogs do.

Bull Terriers are great dogs (we have a full blooded rescue). They are loyal, faithufl and good with kids. They are sometimes not good around cats (high prey drive) and other dogs (territorial). However, the same can be said of PittBulls...they certainly aren't guard dogs...and are great around kids. But, often they aren't socialized to tolerate other dogs.
BTW Bull Terrier=Spuds and the Target Dog...
