I am Sikkim Manipal Student doing M.Sc.IT 6th semester.  Will you conduct a campus interview for the students doing the Distance Education from the University.  No matter I m ready to come manipal and can attend the campus interview as the other regular students are having?

this university was a institute now it is a private university . i want to do MBA but i leave this university ,the reason behead that is course structurer is like a 5th class book . after getting degree from this university . student will not go for a job

From Sikkim Manipal University, I have completed PGDIT in 2002 and recently MCA in July 2004 and waiting for the final result and the Award of MCA degree from Sikkim Manipal University (SMU).

Now I am trying to find out the accreditation of these SMU Degrees.

In Nepal, our study center claims that the SMU degrees are fully recognised by another university in Nepal, Kathmandu University and the process is underway for Tribhuvan university to get recognised.

What about the Universities in India and other side of the Globe? I am wondering as to whether or not they are recosniging our degrees from SMU.

It is the best University of the country.
Got 50 institutions under it.
2 universities, SMU & MAHE
700 study centres
Ta.Pai one of the top 15 b-school
Kastruba Medical College 3rd best medical college of India. After all, the programmes are UGC and Ministry of HR approved. The university uses technologies like VSAT for distance education for a long time, which IIMs, XLRI etc have started recently.

SMU is a great University . They are very prompt in sending the Marks list ,Degree Certificates .It is wellrecognised .I did my MSc inSustainable Development .Now I am doing UNDPConsultancy job forNepal. It depends how sincerely you learnt your course

i am a student of the same university , doing MCA final year.it is UNDOUBTEDLY a v.good university.
the only drawback i found was with the topics covered in few subjects, like some important languages..i wish the syllabus is UPDATED keeping the job-trend in view.
Otherwise everything else is good,
i would rank it 3/100(3rd among 100 other distance universities)

i have completed my Msc disaster mitigation from sikkim manipal unversity of health,medical and technological sciences.

the course structure is too good but university must have contact programme for atleat a week for practical trainning point of view .

any way course is superb .

I am doing MCA from this university.. I found the course good enough as compared with other universities. But would like to know why this university is not in the list of Naukri.com and other good websites for the job application... Is this university affiliated by the AICTE?

It is a reputed university I believe. But the university hardly corresponds with its distant students. The course is fine. I completed MSc Sustainable Development last year. I am confident in this field after this course. I am yet to receive the university certificate.

I don't know yet about Sikkim Mani-pal University. Although, I am doing M.B.A. in Finance from the Distance Education Center of this university in Chandigarh.Some times, I think that i have made a mistake by opting for this university.

Provided a student make full use of the facilities and study material and study regularly (which most doesnt do), Sikkim Manipal University can be as good as any other universities...One thing is that one should select the Study centres with regular classes, it will be more beneficial for him ....

iam a MBA candidate it is a good university.My suggestion is improve the syallabus, and the best thing is pattern of the examination is very unmached to MBA because MBA person needs writing skills and thinking skill so manipal take steps to conduct the examiniation in
un bit type model.

I don't no more about university,But it's syllabus is very good.If U refer another book for each paper u will find that u have a great & a lot of knowledge about your stream.knowledge depends on your curiosity,Study center facilities & a good & labourious faculty who can teach u something new & extra.I am in Last sem of B.Sc.IT from this University & a topper student of Manipal IT education...acc_ash21@yahoo.co.in

AS I HAVE DONE THE BIT IN 2003 AND CURRENTLY DOING MCA FROM KIIT AND GET THE PLACEMENT IN THE WIPRO.
THE SYALLABUS IS GOOD BUT THE STANDARD OF QUESTION AS AN OBJECTIVE IS NOT UPTO THE STANDARD. AS THE QUESTION AT THIS LEVEL OF EDUCATION SHOULD BE MORE DESCRIPTIVE BECAUSE IT CHECKS THE ANALYTICAL SKILLS OF THE STUDENT.

I have completed my MCA from here & would like to suggest all those who are here to work hard rather than just sticking to your text books provided by the University. Ultimately what will pay is your knowledge which can be gained by more thorough studies & practice. Today I am placed in a good company with my own labor.

One of Professor of Jadavpur University
named Mr. ATAL CHOWDHURY said that
the courses of Sikkim Manipal university like MSC IT & MCA is of no use and will carry no value as there is no provision of practical training. The study materials are full of errors and questions set are based on tick marks which accoding to him is rediculous. Actually he is spreading ill reputation og SIKKIM MANIPAL UNIVERSITY in BENGAL. I have passed MSC IT & MCA from this University and I feel heart when someon says that I have wasted my money. Authority please answer

This is the best University, i have ever come accross, credit system is the best one. best way to achive Degree while working, examiniations are all objective, + 60 marks weightage on Assingements.

i am an alumni of a full time grad course from this university and all i can say is that it has taken me places; across countries as well as across fields of technology. like a new university it did have its teething problems which the students from the initial full time programmes had to bear with, but the university has genuine potential, and its efforts are bearing fruit now. it is indeed a recognised university and quite known in the eastern sector, guys are getting jobs in reputed MNC's and getting selected for higher studies in presitigious universities both home and abroad, new courses and faculties are coming in regularly, and it is now a proven breeding ground for the best brains in India. is that not reason enough to join (i hope smu pays me for the campaign, but i wouldnt mind if they dont, its my way of thanking my university)

It is a nice university but it should be perfect . now the notes which we study from university is not perfect so should check all spelling n then give it out to students.

I am happy about the conducting of the course, as I am a student of the course. But i worry about the credibility of the distance education courses in the eyes of the corporate. Will it affect the chances of being selected for a job.

Sikkim Manipal University is having reputed and known univerisity in the world.  It's a honour being graduated from this university.  I did my BIT and now I am doing pursuing MCA.  I am proud to have a degree from reputed university.

it is a great university
i know the topper of the university in MBA course. He topped in internet and Internet Application & Management Information System University is great. Topper should have got 199/200 but partiality so he got lesser

as per my known, it is good course compare to all the courses in world, because here we should work too hard to get the Comparatative scores, because the questions papers are too difficult, and one more thing it is a descriptive types of questions here, so it is too difficult to understand the questions

I did my BSc IT from SMU and persuing my MBA from SMU. Course is compact and if u have the knowledge and skills u can excel. I am working in Wipro BPO and chances are there that I will move into technologies. So overall I am satisfies. U cant ask for more from a distance education

i am a student of sikkim manipal university studied mca . companies need full time graduation and work experience. Due to high competition for job. There is no value in studying distance. go for full time course.'
if u go to placement list in the website of SMU you cannot find even a single name of company in that list.. very poor rating...

SMU is an ok-ok univ. for DE students, ask ur study centre, they do have employment ads on their bulletin

As far as validity of the university is concerned, the University is reognised by UGC but I have a serious doubt about its status of distance education. It is NOT listed in the website of Directorate of Distance Education where all others including MDU and Madurai Kamraj etc are listed.

i m doing correspondence course(msc.it 6th sem.) from this university. and this university must look after all institutes whether they are teaching the students properly or not and they must keep the seminars in every institute.

Sikkim Manipal University is not a UGC recognised one.When u complete the study and try to find a job, u will come to know the hard truth that it doesn't have any value.So please go for regular courses and never for the distance one.U can select this for only knowledge purpose.

Sikkim-Manipal University is good. Its study materials are well written and easy to understand, but it should come with CD'stoo. Study centre'sshould conduct placement to the students as they are conducting classes through VSAT and direct in-house lectures.
