You can write 50 test cases per day or 2 test cases per day. It all depends on the design of the test case and the QUALITY of the test case.

The number of test cases depends upon the screen and the individual tester who writes the test cases, there were days when I had written 150 test cases in 1 day, so it is not the quantity that matters but the quality.
As I said it depends upon the individual and how accurately he looks into the screen ahead of him

Actually test cases are written to identify the bugs. The test cases effectiveness is measured based on defects identified through executing the testcases and again to estimate how many testcases a person can write depends upon the domain knowledge, understanding the business rule and using proper test data

Yes its depend on the functionality of the scenario, means if your module want more analysis then you need to write more test cases, and that must be understandable by the developer and programmer, if your case is not understandable by the programmer then how can he remove the bugs from your module, we can not say that this number of test cases are sufficient for this module.

While it all depends on the functionality of the system,it would also be adviceable to put more emphasis/priority on the critical deliverables of the system in question.
