I'm translating a children's book into Spanish for a class and some of the names are initials.  I was wondering if I should keep the names the same or adapt them to the culture?

Well, you have to take into account the following.  If u want to keep intact the integrality of the text to transmit the origin and tone of the book you can leave it like that.  Or you can apllied transpositional translation and adapted to the targeted language you are working on.
