I own a 2001 Dodge Durango 5.9 R/T. My post cat o2 sensor harness came off it's hook and got stuck to the silencer which melted the harness completely. I got a new o2 sensor but don't know which wires on the 02 sensor go to which color wires going to the pcm.I tried connecting them in a way I thought might be correct and ended up shorting my governor sensor and solenoid switch in the gearbox. Replaced the gearbox sensors and it's ok now but I haven't dared connect the new o2 sensor again. ANYONE KNOW THE COLOR CODES FOR THE POST CAT O2 SENSOR?? Also noticed that ever since I started running my Durango without the post cat o2 sensor, I have PRECISELY 5 minutes of smooth running before my valves start tapping seriously when I accelerate. All I do is switch my engine off, start it again and start counting another 5 minutes before my valves start tapping again. Is this problem related to the post cat o2 sensor not being connected or do I have another problem??? Any help on both above issues will be highly appreciated as I live in Africa and every time I order a part it takes a couple of centuries to get here. Also, we have no competent mechanics here which leaves me with no option but to repair it myself, so a detailed description on my problem will be God sent. Thanks

W

YOur dodge dealer techs are more than willing to help.  Call one up, and they'll give you a hand.  Just tell them  you're stuck in a small town in Indiana and there is NO mechanic available, just UPS that sent you the parts.

your best bet is going to be search online for a wiring diagram for it. you will more then likely have to purchase it or a subscription to something. if you can find a repair manual that would be ideal. have you tried calling or emailing a dealership to see if they could work anything out as far as emailing you one or just having them look it up and let you know what wire is what. i'm more then l.likely for you have tried this already but i thought i would at least add my two cents. best of luck god bless

Sell your truck as fast possible. I just spent $3,500 on mine because the main computer malfunctioned and melted the engine heads. Think Toyota.
