I have a Keeshond (Bruno) who is 14 months old.  He has a thick clump of hair below each ear and this clump seems to move along with the movements of his ears.  My husband was going to try to cut these clumps off, but I told him not to.  I think that these THINGS are supposed to be there.  What are they?  Do all Kees have them?  They are not matted hair in case you were thinking that they were.  Bruno doesn't mind if I touch them.  I think that they are part of him and not just hair.  Thanks, Renie

I have 2 Keeshonds.  This is a common thing to happen, because the hair is so fine around the ear area it tends to tangle very easily.  It is important to make sure that you brush your keeshond once a week, or if you notice that there are small tangles surrounding that area because if left too long it can cause skin irritations.  Make sure that you brush out any knots or furballs before bathing your kees as water can become trapped between the fur and the skin and it can cause skin irritations.
