Scenario Question: I am attacking my friend with a 2/2 creature. My friend then taps the creature using an ability from his own creature (Ex. Tap, W: Tap target creature). Does this ability prevent my creature from attacking or does the tap ability to nothing?

The tap ability will do nothing. Tapping is a cost for attacking so the creature cannot be tapped again. Your friend should have tapped your creator immediately after your untap phase or at least before your attack phase.

Any time before the "declaration of attackers" step in the combat phase. Just remember that they cant pass out of main phase or through steps in the attack phase without you getting a chance to play stuff.
