I have a question regarding patching for children with amblyopia.  My child's PO wanted us to patch the good eye full time *every waking hours* and come in for check up every 6 weeks.  I'm worried that too much patching could hurt the good eye (loosing sight or make the eye turns in/out....). The PO said that children could patch every waking hours for up to 18 weeks with no harm to the good eye. But my ophthamologist told me that one week full time patch for every year old.  For example, a 5 years old  child can patch every waking hours for 5 weeks without causing any harm to the good eye. I'm worried and confusing.  Any help or advice is greatly appreciate.

Thank you.
