well i got anesthetic when i got mine done... the needle felt like a tiny prick (and i HATE needles so yeah), then i felt my belly a bit later and i was like omigod i can still feel me touching my belly.. isnt it sposed to be all numb so i cant feel anything? but the doc told me it just doesnt make you feel pain... i didnt look what the doc was doing when i got it done, i was too scared. then i asked... have you finished yet??? and he said..."i finished like 2 mins ago". im like wow! i didnt even feel it! how good was that! so it doesnt hurt at all if you anesthetic by needle...(local anesthetic)... but some places dont give anesthetic. a friend of mine got it done without it and she said it wrecked! so yep... go the local anesthetic...! if your looking for a good place to get it done at, i know one in sydney, it on anzac parade, kensington. its a body piercing doctor. i think theres a website... www.body-piercing.com i think but im not sure... good luck anyway!

I am 13 and I got my belly pierced yesterday at the mall, i was really really scared and everything but it was cool, the lady rubbed orange stuff on my belly and marked where the piercing would go, then i layed down and held on to my mums hand and closed my eyes. she put the clamps on and then she told me to breathe in out in out at the same time as her and after about four breathes the needle went in, there was a few seconds of pain and then it was over. i was like wow i have my belly pierced an i was sooo happy! i was listening to her explaining how to clean it when i fainted! im just like that... but for anyone who is thinking of getting it done you should because it doesnt hurt that much and its really worth it cos it looks so cool! mine hasnt hurt since it was done yet so im really happy with it. go on!

Hey wad up itz ya gurl drea herre i was jus respondin to all these gurlz herre that are gettin really scurred ova a belly button ring...that shyt dont hurt im jus lettin u kno cuz it dont hurt at all....n to KitKat ummm u aint sposed to swim in poolz n shyt cuz of tha chlorine fo like 2-3 monthz so i dunno if thas a good idea to get it done then or get it done sooner or suttin cuz it can get infected if u go swimmin wit it done fo only 2 dayz itz gotta be atleast 2-3 monthz...but jus ta make sure u can talk to ur body piercin person aight well to everyone else...it really doesnt hurt at all and anybody that sayz it doez DONT LISTEN TO EM!!! cuz all tha worryin aint worth it cuz itz so fast n painless that u wont believe how much u worried!!! Plus it looks really really cute so yuh...lol...aight im out ~~ UnO ~~

ok, i did my belly button my self= did not hurt. if your doing it your self : go to the store and by a matress need (they are curved) and make sure it is sharp and really large. also by 2 mars candy bars and a coke because they are actually help you stay more like focused( i ask my doc) and they do more stuff for you, like help you not to faint. then and then get a travel siz(if not regular) johnson and johnson babywash cuz it has a numbing effect in it, and wash your belly button with it like 10 time, it wont numb you but it helps! also make sure everything is really clean with alcohol use gloves, and if you cant find a mattres neddle get a thick needle. then get DIAL antibacterial liquid soap(its the best) and clean your belly at least 3-5 times a day, dont take a bath for 3 months adn water can only be on it a maximum of 2 minutes! for you getting it profeshionaly done do the sme things! it helps. also stick the needle through the top first and dont take it out the gradually as you pull the needle out put the barbell in. its better to have som1 there with you and have them pull out your skin and its easier that way. andy more q's email me lanes986@yahoo.com i am an expert at this !!!!!!

well i have been wanting my belly pierced for so long and yesterday i got it done and i was so exited but so so very scared when i was picking the ring i was shaking so much ooh and i got a barbell because the rings look disgusting well and y way first i signed the paper with mum then i picked the ring then i went in to this little room and she drew on me the first time it was not strait so she drew it again the she got these thing that look like scissors but with to hollow () on the end and she graved the skin with the clamp and stuck the needle through and then put the ring in at the same time as she pulled the tube out and i didn't hurt that much just a little bit but only for a second

i got my belly button done about 4-5 mounth ago...it hurts a little but nothing really bad...what they do is they tell you what they are going to do then the person gets out clamps and cleans your belly button and then you lay down...he tell you to breath and hold it and then he tells you to breath out and right when your breathing out, the needle goes thourgh...that noght when you go to sleep try to were pants that are real low cause wen i was sleeping my pants kepk hitting my stomic, it didnt hurt but it kept waking me up. so if you want it done go for it...okay. if your parient wont let you get it done just tell them that your a good kid and you dont drink or sleep around and they should let you have a little fun....thats what i said when i wanted my tongue done and it work, im getting my tongue after christmas.

heyy! ok...well everyone wonders if it hurts...and everyone is saying diff thing soo im just gonna tell you ...I WAS SOOOO SCARED and normally im not, so anway after i picked my ring they took me into a room when they puut me in this chair that lyes you down they clean ur belly like they do wit ur ears bbut its a diff color...the clamp...o the clamp..it does look like sisors ( can't spell lol ) but not u kno...lol..but when they clamp you it hurts not like ALOT just a lil and only for 20 sec most....they stick the needle in and your done...i don't reccommend anyone under 13 to get it don tho cuz its young n a lot ofu arn'tready but u think u are...anyway ne more ?tion just ask em everyone says the same thing and they arn'twrong

Hey ppl....I'm getting mine done probably Saturday..2 days!! I was there with my friend when she got hers done, and don't worry, she says it doesn't hurt that much! What they do is make you sign papers and pick out the ring you want. Then you go into the room thing and they clean your bellybutton with this orange-ish stuff then mark it, and sometimes ask you to stand up and see if you like it where it is. Then you lay back in the chair, or stand up in some cases. They put the clamps on your bellybutton then they tell you to breathe in, and when you exhale(breathe out), they push the needle through. There is a cork on the bottom of your bellybutton to stop the needle. Then they just put the ring in and screw the top on. Then they tell you how to take care of it: Use the soap they give you in the shower EVERY night. You turn away from the water, pour a little on top of the ring and slide it up and down to get the medicine into the hole. Then turn back to the water and slide it up and down to rinse it out. After your done in the shower, you put this antibiotic cream on it for about a week. DO NOT go swimming with it for at least 3-4 months. DO NOT change it for at least 2 months, or however long your piercer tells you. I wouldn't recommend piercing it yourself, because if it gets infected and you have to let it heal, there will be scar tissue. Then if you want it done professionally later, it will be even harder to get it through. My one friend pierced her own bellybutton 3 times and it took about 45 minutes to get the needle through her bellybutton!! I have mine done. I would NEVER recommend doing it at home. You need to have sanitary steralized needless and accessories to ensure you will have a clean piercing. The people who do this for a living have the educational background and knowledge to answer all your questions from the inital piercing to the style or ring/barbell, cleaning, and how to keep it safe from getting infected. It's not a simple stab through your belly button and taa daa you're done.You are sticking a foriegn object into your body. There are many levels of factors to consider outside of the basic piecring itself. Seek a professional to do this work. Don't do this at home. You wouldn't see someone operating on themselves at home slicing into themselves to remove a kidney, they go to a surgeron. The same goes for this procedure. Talk to a professional, that is why they get paid for that job.

I just got mine done like 2 weeks ago or something like that and i went to m&m's in thorndale...alls i had to do was fill out papers and since im under age i had to have my mom sign it...they took me back into a room and they cleaned around were it would be and marked it and asked if it looked good where they were gonna pierce it...i said yea and then i layed back in a chair and they put the clamps on and told me to take a deep breath and let out and it was done...i didn't feel much the thing that hurt the most was the clamps...the needle didnt hurt and it wasn't that big...and they put the ring that i picked in and it was done...my mom thought it was done when they put the clamps on lol...it hurt for about 4-5 days and it was red but i take care of mine so its not infected or anything...i can't change the ring for 2 months but thats not bad...it doesn't hurt anymore...it might be scary at first but its not really and it doesn't hurt much...u feel a little prick and thats about it besides the clamps...all my friends were like wow u really got it done let me see did it hurt i said no...if ya take good care of it, it will be fine. ok...still no one has answered any of my questions but i dont care...neway.. all of u who have the chance to get your belly button pierced....go for it if your scared...if you wanted it that bad you wouldnt really care about the pain.. unlike most of u...my parents think im too young and wont let me so if you have the chance just do it...and dont even bother asking if it does hurt.... half of these entrys say it doesnt n the other half say it does...youll never kno until you just go get it done...everyone has a different pain tolerance level... anyway.....anyone have any suggestion or ways to tell your parents gettin your belly button pierced isnt a bad thing...lol thanx

okay lele, lala, whatever it is because lala asked ways to convince your parents? no? but it's lele, okay I am like confusing myself! hee hee but anyways. what I did was bug my mom over and over and over and she said no way!!! but I kept bugging her and she was like okay if you get all A's then you can get it. But then I was like in the summer!!! you cant swim and people wont see it because well...you're out of school! So then I kept asking and pleading like please mom! And did some extra chores (hey it wont hurt you to try) like do the dishes or bake some cookies or make rice krispies. Then my mom said okay maybe we'll see how you do third quarter and I was like awww. I kept asking her still and kept going are you THINKING ABOUT IT! and be really nice to your parents! And my mom was like okay maybe on a memorable day (new years,valentines...) and so I'm like hey how about for my birthday! (its in jan) so she said maybe valentines day but I'm hoping for my birthday because I'm still asking! And how is that so far, from a NO WAY to a WE'LL SEE, then a maybe mothers day, and then fourth quarter, now maybe valentines day.... we'll I'm still working on getting it done sometime this month but I'll post later! buh-bye

Hey! Well I got mine done about a month ago, and sure I was nervous in all, but it didn't hurt that bad! Everyone is different, so it depends on your tolerance level. Anyways I'm from Wise, Virginia, and I went to a place called Purple Dragon. They got me to fill out papers, I'm 15 so my dad signed for me. Then she let me pick out my ring, then she took me back into a little room, cleaned it all around my belly button with rubbing Alcohol, then she marked it with a little dot to make sure it was straight, then clamped it, the she got me to lay down and she started talking to me and did it as she was talking to me. It burns for about 30 seconds, but afterwards you can't hardly feel it...it's sore for a few days, but you can't feel it unless you mess with it. You just really have to clean it and take care of it. It's no different from your ears pain wise though. It feels about the same. There really isn't a difference in rings though..wether you want a barbell or ring, it is all safe and equally as good. I wouldn't recommend doing it at home, it increases the chance of infection. Besides, getting a professional to do it, that has sterile equipment makes you feel a whole lot better. I was told not to lay in the tanning bed or go swimming or take baths for 10 days. You can take showers though. It takes 6-weeks before you can change it. Another thing, the lady there gave me a paper that said that it is usual for puss to secrete(come out) of the piercing while it's healing. Anyways that's my 2 cents worth. Hope I helped. -Steph

why are you getting so angry... they're nervous it's a normal thing... let them do what they want when they want who are you to tell them otherwise??? and if they're so little... why are you the one writing tHe AnNoYiNg WaY... please give me a break... you're not one to tell them what to do... so go ahead and scream b/c they can keep asking if it hurts all they want! i just got mine done and i'm 16... i was nervous! It might hurt more for one person then another, but for me the clamp hurt more then the actual piercing, but it was over in a matter of seconds... there's nothing to worry about... i know that's easier said then done... but good luck!! and just make sure you clean it with the spray they give you... if they don't give you one, don't get it there, they should give you a sea salt spray... and if they don't take the things out of new packages in front of you go somewhere else! :) good luck again... bye <3always - Elana

this ones 4 cherry: dont worry, u arent the only one beggin 2 get ur belly pierced! so welcome to the club! i have tried somethin that got my mom to say she wud think bout it- and thats a good start,right?! well heres how i did it. i went to lots of sites and did a crapload of research! then i showed it to my mom and she said that she wud think bout it and that she was glad that i did all that research isntead of just saying that i wanted my belly pierced. when u do the research parents seem to think u are responsible, so i highly suggest that. oh and it wouldnt hurt to be xtra nice to ur parents, and maybe make them breakfast in bed or somethin. hey, whateva it takes, right?!good luck,and if ur really young, thats probly another thing thats against ya. ~shelie~ o, here is a site that has lots of info bout caring 4 ur piercing and all that crap: www.hotbodyjewelry.com and if u have more questions, u can ask the pros, cuz that site has customer service which lets u ask questions, and they know a lot bout piercing,trust me!

I got my belly button pierced in November of 2003. It hurt a TINY bit when the guy put the clamp on my belly button, but, I only felt a little pressure and the needle poking through one side and out the other side. for the first two weeks or so it hurt to move around and bend over. I had to wear stretchy yoga pants or pants that didn't have a waist. I couldn't wear jeans comfortably until about January. I still have to clean my belly button piercing everyday though because it isn't healed yet. I think it was worth the hassle. Every time I look down and see it I think "wow, how cute!" really, though, you should be mature enough to have the patience and diligence to clean it and take care of it every day, TWICE a day, even if you don't want to. right...i need to get this sorted. i came on this website for SO Long to find out what it was like when you get your belly button done. and i want to get it straightened out... i was really nervous about getting mine done as i am not one for pain. and i am going to be honest..it hurt me...the thinner you are..the more you feel the clamp. so if you are not skinny and you are normal or plump the clamp then it will not affect you as much. the piercer distracted me as he put the needle in...the needle did a hurt a bit but to be completely honest...it hurt for one second and this was just as it went in...as the piercer put the barbell in...i didn't even feel it. i have had mine done for over a week now and i can't even feel it....get it done..it is SO worth it!!

3 wks ago, took me (38) & my 14 yr old daughter (FL says 14) to get her belly pierced. After watching her do it and not even flinch I decided to brave it out. They don't numb you where we went. It did not hurt at all. She swam in the ocean that afternoon and every day for a week after (springbreak) and her'sis already healed. Mine is doing great. I found our place (Caribbean Connections) by calling our local Health Department and asking for a recommendation. Don't pierce yourself or let your friends do it. It is unhygenic. I, as a parent, was just glad that the piercing she wanted wasn't on her face. A piercing is much less "permanent" than a tatoo. My motto with our kids is pick your fights. And a belly piercing just wasn't worth fighting about. Especially since I secretly had wanted mine done too!

I just got mine done yesterday and it didnt really hurt i was really scarred but i went threw with it! It didnt hurt that bad the worst part was the clamp! I had a really nice lady piercer and did it in Florida! The needle was exactly 2 inches long! The total was only 54$ with ring and aftercare kit plus the tip and the piercing! Dont have caffine or medications before you go it could cause you to bleed alot! Of course i didnt know that and had 4 classes of pepsi before i went and i bleed alot but i didnt look cause that would freak me out. It only hurt a little and it was over within 30 seconds! I cant wait to show all my friends it looks so cute! Before I went to get it done a had a bunch of different stories like it hurt alot or it didnt hurt at all. But I think it only hurt a little but i guess you will have to find out for yourself! The best think to do is get it done with a friend or bring him or her along for support! Happy piercings

I have no clue about the answer to the question about the bacteria or chlorine. It would make a great ask Jeeves's question, lol! But I got my navel pierced about an hour ago and it looks so cute. The clamps do hurt the most, and then suddenly you feel a needle go through your skin, and then another piece of skin...and its over. It burns and stings, but other than that, it was just shocking. Just clench and close your eyes and its over before you know it. Mine was 60 dollars and I'm only 13. My mom did have to come and sign papers though. Take my advice. I have pierced my belly myself and it was much more painful than getting it professionally done. Do NOT DO IT YOURSELF!! It is so much cuter, healthier, funner, safer, and painless to get it done professionally. I just closed my eyes but this is for Verity. OK, first she cleaned my belly button with alcohol, then marked where the hole would be and made sure i liked it. I did and then I laid down on the table. She put the clamps on to hold the skin which hurt worse than the needle. Then i feel this pressure and something going through my skin. I was expecting pain cause i thought she had to pull the needle out or the bell bar to hurt when she stuck it in...but i felt nothing after the needle. i didn't watch but they do put the hole in and then the bar bell verity, get it done. Yea, I have wanted mine done for like EVER!! My mom and dad kept saying no, but the other night my mom's friend was here and I was trying to get her friend to talk her into letting me go tanning, but they both said no. :( (I am clostrophobic anyways.) So then I was like then talk he into letting me get my belly button pierced, and she was like okaii. So my mom is like only if you get at least a 90 on your next French test. (So to those of you who are still working on getting the okaii, try something like I did!!) Well anyways, my French test is tomorow and I have been working my a$$ off!! I am pretty sure I can pull it off!!(Not that I am a bad student, French is just not one of my better subjects.) I am kinda nervous though, and I have like a bazillion questions that I NEED answers to. Should I bring a friend with me? Is the needle like hollow or just like a giant sewing needle? Does it take a long time? Would a regular tatto/piercing parlor have anethesics (can't spell)? Does it hurt alot? On a scale of one to ten how much does it hurt (one being not at all and ten being like tons)? How couls you compare it to getting your ears pierced? Does it feel like getting a shot at the doctor's office? How long does it hurt for? I have heard it hurts alot the next day... is that true? I am leaving for the beach in like two and a half months, is ocean water bad for it, or should I just cover it up with one of those pig clear plastic bandages? Do they get infected really easily (I know I'll take super good care of it)? And oh yea, I weigh about 92 pounds, and I am gonna be 15 in a few days... does that metter? PLEASE write back... I may be getting it done tomorow or the next day if I can get my teacher to correct it by tomorow afternoon!! PLEASE... SOME ANSWERS... PPLLEEAASSEE!! Thanx Soooooo Much!! ~Lexie~
