how much does a tribal tattoo on your lower back hurt? i don't take pain very well and i need all the help i can get..so please help me!

no it doesn't, well not much i have a picture of my mother there and it was only a wee bit when they started. does any one know if it hurts when you get your penis tattooed or if it has to be erect when it is being done?

I got a lower back tattoo yesterday, and I'd say it hurt like hell. I wasn't expecting much pain to be honest, and I'm pretty good when it comes to pain, but it was honestly awful. It's a rather large tattoo and took a few hours which is why it hurt so bad, but a smaller tattoo in that area is smarter if you're bad with pain. It honestly feels like a hot razor blade scraping the heck out of you, but I don't regret doing it. It was painful, but what do you really expect? It is a tattoo.

I got my first tatt a fully blown tribal design all by free hand so its a bit different about 2 month ago still got alot of colouring ive got all of my right arm covered half my chest and half my back, big for a first tatt but after the first bit i went mad and asked for the whole lot can honestly say im an addict now.. It didnt hurt me at all but i know some people really feel it.. its ya own personal thing to be honest, its just like being scratched by a cat or summin.. not that bad.. but definatly an experience for the first time.. go for it..

It hurts a little!! I had a lower back tattoo and I thought it was painful but the amount of pain will depend on you as a person.  I am 18 and slim which means there is little fat before there is bone making a tattoo more painful for me if u have a lot or more fat then me i would think it wouldn't be that bad! mine took an hour and 15 Min's to do an although it hurt it was bearable and after-wards i forgot the pain and was very happy with my tattoo.  its been 5 days today and its healing well but is starting to itch alot which is to do with the scab but its all good news so my bf tells me lol. If you want a tattoo go for it because no matter how painful it is its not for very long and then u have the tattoo for life.  to me it felt like a hot burning sensation but as soon as the tattooist stops to refill the pain goes so u can always ask for a brake:)

about the penis tattoo, don't listen to the other guy (Mick)"apparently" he dosn'thave 1. I do I have flames tattooed on the head of my penis that are colored in red and orange. Let me tell you, YES it hurts but the pain goes away almost instantly when your done. It's just a little tender for the next few days. It's so worth it if your thinking about doing it and anyone you show just thinks your nuts! It's great

I've got quite a few tattoos already but I got my first lower back tat 2day. I've got to say it hurt like a motherf****r. Apparently men have more more nerve endings in their lower back than women and let me tell you, I think it may be true. I wouldn't put anyone off getting this area done as I couldn't be happier with mine, I got my 5 day old daughter's name in Celtic letters all the way over my lower back and it's breath taking......GO FOR IT!!! I'm getting a lower back tattoo in 18 more days. I'm not quite sure exactly what I want, I want to be sure because it's permanent.. but I'm wondering if anyone knows some good sites to look for lower back designs and tribals? Please help me out if you can. I've been looking for a while now and time's running out! Haha. As far as the pain goes though, I'll be able to handle it. I already have MANY parts of my body pierced. What the hell will a tattoo really feel like? Just some more pain, piece of cake.. haha! I love it*

Bull! Tattoos do hurt. Anyone who tells you that they don't are full of it. Yes some people may say it didn'thurt "that" much and it does depend on the person, but they hurt. They are breath taking at times, the pain is more annoying and uncomfortable rather then a "tearing" pain. Tattoos are worth the pain though! Advice...take awhile to decide what you really want and don't just pick one off the wall. It's forever.

i had a tattoo on the my lower back yesterday a celtic design it doesnt feel like needles its just feels like burning. i cant take pain at all. but it was no where near as bad as i was expecting.

I just got back from getting a tribal heart with wings on my lower left back and it didnt hurt at all when they start it doesnt hurt the only part that hurts is shading it feels like a cat scratching you but besides that it really is nuttin i am 19 and 117 pds so if i took it ne one can lol

I have got a large tattoo around my left leg and I will admit that it does hurt but most of the time it is a nice pain but sometimes it really hurt(such as the muscle(i have skinny legs)). I am getting the top part of my back tattooed in a couple of days time and I am going to go in there expecting the same pain, if not more because if you expect a real bad pain then it will normally be better. PAIN IS A PSYCHOLOGICAL THING!get lots of tattoos everyone!

wel i'm a 16 year old girl, and i have a heart on my pelvic area, that didnt hurt, i also have a rose round my ankle- which hurt a fair bit. I had a chinese symbol on the top right of my back and thats was in my mind the one that hurt the least, i also have a large tribal band with a butterfly in the center at the bottom of my back, now i hate pain and that hurt but i just kept thinkin how lush it will look after it has healed. Tattoos are soooo adictive,dont you think?? Any ideas for another one? I'm going tomorrow to have two paw prints on my boobs, will write more after that.  xx Totally recomend tattoos

I really enjoy it. Yes it does hurt in some areas but by and large it is more boring over a period of several hours than painful.

I'm going to get a tattoo on my lower back on the 5th.  It's my 18 birthday Wednesday and i decided that i absolutely have to get it!  In case anyone out there is still wondering how bad it hurts i will certainly update this Wednesday right after i get my tattoo, and I'm not going to sugar coat the truth either!  LMFAO

I am 29 years old and have many large tats on various parts of my body. The most recent one is a large tribal bird very low on my back, I will not lie this particular tat hurt so bad at points that I got the sweats and thought I might throw up...mostly it killed on my spine by my tail bone where there is solid black coloring. The only other one that I remember being uncomfortable was my stomach..but even that wasn't as bad as the lower back.

Okay i just got back from getting my tattoo.  If you want to see what i got then go here: http://www.tattoonow.com/Tattoo-Designs/Tribal/item715.html The only part that hurt like hell was the outlining.  It does feel like a hot razor blade cutting into your skin.  The filling in didn't really hurt all that bad.  My body instantly began to sweat, and i mean i was completely drenched and water was dripping from EVERYWHERE!  Also, there were some nerves being hit and it would affect the nerves in the left side of my body like my arm, finger tips, and my knee.  It felt like my nerves were being vibrated by something really hot.  Right now i'mbleeding pretty bad and i can't take off the bandage until 10 and right now it's 7.  I'll update you all in a couple of days and let you know how i'mdoing!!!  PEACE

I'm 16 and am getting a tat for my 17th birthday. Can't wait! I have a friend who got a tat on her lower back and she said that it did'nthurt all that much ,just the filling in part. And "carrie" no one is too fat to get a tattoo. Just as long as you are doing it for you and no one else.                                    HOLLER

I have my lower back done and it hurt a little. I have a butterfly with tribal. I do not take pain well and it was nerve raking in the beginning but it gets better. It burns-at the end it is well worth it!

I have a daisy arm band on my right arm. When I went to get it I had every intention of getting a lower back tattoo but I was scared and the guys were all telling me to do the arm band because it was less painful. To my surprise it didn't hurt at all!! So a year later I still wanted my lower back tribal so I went back and made myself do it. Yeah it hurt a little, but everyones pain tolerance levels are different. For me it was a piece of cake!!! :) My next tat will be a skeleton gecko on the top of my left foot. I've already drawn it up and its gonna be soooo cute. TTFN

i have a tattoo just below my left hip of a tribal butterfly. to any1 who is thinkin of gettin 1 it does hurt at the begining wen the outline is being done but after that the pain is bareable,iv been told mine hurt because of where it is as its such a sensitive area,so anyone who is gettin 1 on lower back my mate got 1 yesterday and said there ain't nothin 2 worry about! so go 4 it!!! xxx

I had my lower back tattoo done 3 days ago. I was quite nervous waiting for the bloke to come and call me in and the initial sitting on the chair waiting for him to start was a bit nerve wracking but although the outline hurt somewhat the filling in didnt really hurt at all, and it only took about 20 minutes too so it was over in no time. It didn't hurt at all once I left, at some points that evening I even forgot I'd had it done coz there was no pain at all, it was red for about 30 minutes but that soon went away.

I got a tattoo on monday (june 21st) on my lower back, of 5 stars. I had anticipated it to be really painful, and I am a wuss, and hate needles. But, to my surprise, it was not painful. He worked on me for about an hour, and it was the easiest thing ever!! If you want a tattoo, just do it! It is so worth it in the end. Now, 2 days after, I just feel like I have a little sunburn. I plan on getting 5 star tattoos on my lower back, Ive heard a lot of things about lower back tattoos like: if u have more fat it doesn't hurt, if u get it tattooed closer to your crack it hurts, if u get it tattooed by your love handles it hurts, well i was wondering what the truth is for lower back tattoos. i plan on getting jus med size stars, pink and black, i know a lot depends on pain tolerance, i have the side of my lip pierced, i didn't think that hurt much so does that help any, haha

I just got a lower back tattoo yesterday, and it was very painful!!!! It was my first tattoo and I had no idea what it would feel like! Some people said it would hurt, but not bad...others said it was like a burning sensation, or even being stung by a bee, but I have never been stung before, so that didn't help me! Some even said the area would go numb after the first couple minutes, and one of the other customers in the shop actually said it would tickle!! So, I wasn't expecting it to hurt as much as it did...but it hurt like HELL!!! It did not go numb ever, and it was the worst on my sides!!! Everyone said the spine would hurt more, and while the spine areas were painful, the sides were the WORST for me! The whole outlining process was the hardest part. My tattoo is 10" x 4" and very detailed..pretty large for a first tattoo, but I wanted to do it right the first time! Anyway, I have no regrets. It took about 1 1/2 hours, with no breaks, and I can't believe I made it through that pain!!! I guess everyone is different. Maybe to some it is not as bad as for others, but for me it was excrutiating the whole time. But totally worth it!!!

I got a tribal tat and it took 1hour and 30 minutes.  Hurt like hell...worse than having childbirth. I have one on ankle that hurt but not near as bad as the lower back.

I am getting a tattoo sumtime this week, im goin for my 17th birthday. I want a lower back tattoo *tribal art* most of my gurlfriends hav tattoos and they didnt give me much in put on how it felt. they say"o i cant remember" and ima lil scared, i have my belly button pierced and my nose. that did hurt. i can handle pain....but im told thid id a different kinda pain! sumone help!

I am planning to get a tattoo on my lower back and I dont care what n e one says you have to get it done to find out if it hurts or not, everyone i know who has a tattoo on their neck told me that it hurts but i got it done and i didnt think it hurt, my brother got his eyebrow pierced he said it hurt and i didnt think it hurt, ppl told me that getting your nose pierced didnt hurt but it hurt like hell, it depends on you, dont listen to what anyone says if you want it done do it and find out

im 16 years old and i have a butterfly as low as possible on my middle lower back its about 3 x 2 inches big. when the outline was bein done it did hurt but after 5 mins it gets numb n u get used to the pain. when people ask if it hurt i say not really but if i had to rate it on a scale of 1 - 10 id say 6 or a 7     and to who asked how it compares toa belly piercing - u cant. one takes a minute and feels sore for a while the other take a while but feels fine by the time ur up and out

Nope tattoos dont hurt at all my first tattoo was a black tribal design on my side its almost 10 inches long and it goes down on the side of my ribs ... i love it ... the guy who did my tat said that that was one of the most hurtful spots and it didnt hurt my at all... hope you get yours and you love it too ... think i long time before you actually decide on a design

I had my tattoo yesterday, on my lower back. I read some of the comments on this website and got really scared. I knew they would hurt. When i got there to get it done this big guy was having his done on his arm, and he said it was painful and he had to take a break for fresh air 4 times and drink lots of sugary drinks or munch on fruit so he wouldnt pass out. His tattoo took him 2 hours. This scared me alot, i was that close to leaving but my hubby said your here now just try it otherwise youmight regret it... So i build the courage up and sat on the seat to get it done. The artist gave me a test coz i was so scared, she didnt put any ink in the tattoo machine and did her test. I was so suprised it didnt hurt at all. I was expecting to hurt like hell... So i toldher to coninue. I was told my tattoo was going to take 2 hours but because i didnt take any breaks or didnt feel faint or any pain i was done in one hour and 15 mins... Gods honest truth its not as bad as you think it will be. It feels like pins and needles, a more accurate comparision i think it feelslike is an ab belt that tenses your muscles put on a high level. Best thing i ever did. Would def do it again. Anyone who wants one, dont be scared, you'll love it. x

I got a large celtic/tribal tattoo on my lower back 5 months ago, and it DID NOT hurt. and the reason that "the outline hurts but filling in doesn't" is because after about 10 minutes you're numb to the pain anyway. Getting my tat was the best thing i've ever done. words of advice to you little 15 and 16 year olds- wait. but if you're going to go ahead and get one, make sure you're getting it for the right reasons, not because it's 'cool' or because it's the latest trend.

i wanted to know if anybody has any ideas for getting a tattoo on my lower back i am supposed to be getting it in a couple of weeks and i havnt been able to decide yet plz HELP!

Tattoos definatly hurt worse than getting your belly button pierced.  Getting my belly button pierced honestly didn't hurt at all, it happened so fast.  It did sting for a little while afterwards.  But having a tattoo done takes soo much longer than a piercing so you are dealing with the pain longer, maybe that is why it is worse.  You know how people so tattoos only hurt for a little while, and then it goes numb.  Well that wasn't the case for me.

im 14 and im getting the lower part of my back tattooed..I can stand pain but honestly does it hurt that much!? especially onthe lower part of my back cuz its like boney....

Hello, If your thinking about getting a tattoo then great!! be sure that you have thought about what kind you want as you have to live with this for the rest of your life! im 15 and have had my first tattoo 2day, on my lower back. i thought it would have hurt alot more than it did! there not really as painful as some people make them out 2 b. If i can do it then im sure anybody can do GO 4 IT!

im going to get a small tattoo on my lower back it is a small tattoo maybe an 2inches tall and 1.5 inches wide and i am very nervous does anyone know exactly what its going to feel like do you think its going to hurt as bad as others since its so small? plz let me know asap

Hi Peepz,         i am getting a tat on the 9th of october 2004 on the bottom of my back and i am so nervous cus i av read that people sed it hurts,it dosent but i dont kno wot to xpect as it is my 1st.Its gonna be and early b.day present for my 15th birthday which is november 13th so i am gonna go 4 it and write back and tell wot it does feel like. hey,im 17 yrs old n i got my first tat on my lower bakk took a hr and that didnt hurt that much jus on the sides like where its more sensitive the bone doesnt hurt, n i got my otha one on my top shoulder took 20mins the artist used the biggest needle he uses to color it in n that fukin hurt like a bytch!! otha parts didnt hurt its jus that he switched the needle...it hurt. lol i wana get anotha one on my hip soon. once u get a tat their addicting cuz u kno what the pain feels like. to me it felt like a knife cutting into ur skin. if u wana get a tatto i suggest u do make sure u really want it.  its worth it.

I am almost 18 and I am getting a tribal tattoo on my lower back that I designed myself. I am somewhat a wuss but I mean, your back goes numb after about 10 minutes and it lasts the whole time I'm here one earth so why not get it? I'm really excited. It's gonna cost about $200 though. That's the worst part of it I think. LoL
