having troubles with the guitar string model, the string isn't seeming to be very sturdy while i am practicing and isn't piercing verywell. any suggestions??

electric pencil sharpener brake it open use the motor, than a hallo out pall point pen, guitar string cut to a point, and heat up a old toothbrush bends it to a 90 degree angel and a eraser to keep the motor to the pen and the toothbrush is to hold it all together. oh and u need tape!

try a cd player.rip it apart, take out the motor that makes the cd spin.take a safety pin, unbend it and make it completely straight.take off the top of the safety pin.  heat it up.while its hot,melt a small hole in the plastic part of the motor.take a pair of pliers and bend a SMALL part of the top of the pin to about a 90 degree angle.tape the motor to a spoon{the part you pick food up with.tape a pen with the top cut off to the long part of the spoon.tape a 9volt battery to the back of the spoon.take the safety pin and put it in the pen.put the bent part of the pin and put it in the hole you melted.tape the 2 wires to the battery and UR DONE.

its best to buy a professional gun.ive used homemade guns for years and i recently bought a pro setup.its so much easier and the tats come out a lot cleaner in my opinion.

10 foot pice of wire (any kind)
1 3wolt motor (out of a walkmen)
hot glue gun
pen
sowing needle

Hey, I made one, Its easy as hell, and it works great! A good site to go to, to learn how to make one is www.skinjabtattoos.tk   its great! With the instructions  on that website, it took me 5 minutes to put together a tatto gun!

Ok first of all I have nothing but "ghetto" tat's... but all of you seem to be pretty stupid. If you can't spell or use a spell check option the i don't advise building or operating a tattoo "machine".you need to truly think it out before you start turning your skin into hamburger. dont use guitar string unless you want a blury blown out tat,try stanless or surgical wire,dont use batteries,use AC, its more reliable and far more acurate,DO NOT USE ANY PLASTICS, only use metal.you cant autoclave plastic. DONT USE INK FROM BALL POINT PENS not only will it fade but the chemical make-up of the ink can cause some nasty infections.if your gonna f@#$ up your body atleast rise above the rest and get some india ink from an art store. it will last as long as you do. dont share a gun with anyone unless you know how to autoclave...isopropyl alchohol wont clean a gun weel enough to share it. so get off your asses and get jobs...save some money and get some real...professional...safe tats...they dont cost that much...

to make a tatoo gun all you need is:
first u need to get hold of a 12volt motor - lego technics kind. then a 10mm piece of lego technics glue one end of the pice of lego to the shaft. then get another shaft and glue it in the other end hole. then u will need a 3mm washer on the end of the shaft get a sewing needle and glue it to the washer. then get a pen lid and chop the end off and glue it to your motor with the needle sticking through it.

slowly turn it with your hands to make sure it is running freely and smooth. then wire it up to a 12v power pack or wotever you have available the kind for a cb radio (preferably). and power up.

i think i know how 2 make one u bend a spoon/fork/tooth brush with no brissles one of them then u get a ink pin and take the ink stick out and to make the needle u take one of those red coffee straws and u put a sewing needle in it and heat the end and twist it around the neddle so it will hold the needle in place then u stick the needle in the empty ink pin and the u mount the engine take one out of a electric tooth brush um toy  cars or any thing with a small engine then u wrap the shaft with tape stick a needle in it and burn the tape so the needle will stay and then adjust the hight of the needle then stick it through the engind needle that u mounted and plug it in {THATS HOW I MADE MYN} i am just curous on how 2 make it different ways

im 12 and im the master at making tatoo guns all you got to do cut a pen in half take everything out. grab a rc car motor attach a small piece of gutair string to it. put one of thoose "L" shape things on the pen so it looks like an upside "L". secure the "L" shape thing with floss on top put the motor secure it and attach the motor to a power source some how and kapow.

Ok I need to say that people shouldn't use homemade tattoo guns not only is it pretty gross  and can get infected but it also can f*ck up your skin through scaring and what not so if you want a tattoo get one done professionally with a professional tattoo gun you can get one for like 100 bucks and up. also all tattoos i have seen that are self done with a homemade tattoo gun look pretty sh*ty in my opinion.

get a motor out of a remote control car and then a spoon, bend the spoon for support and tape it to a pen or sotter it to a pen,get an old phone charger wire it to the motor and then put a gear or an eraser on the end of the motor, and then get a guitar string and bend it at a ninety degree angle and stick it in the eraser or the gear and plug it it and start to make your money

Homemade tats arent that bad.  I'm pretty good at it but, there are a lot of dumbasses out there who get machine and mess people up. You have to have real talent to tattoo.  If you don't know what the hell your doing why try.

I'm getting full sleeves done using a home-made machine that works brilliantly.

For heaps more info, *good* home-made gun designs (and good photos) + all you need to know to start tattooing like a pro (making and applying stencils, keeping it clean and healthy, what you can use for inks, wiring a machine connected to a foot pedal, lots more ...) see

building a homemade gun takes longer and provides less options as far as shading goes. i am a professional tattoo artist but spent several years in prison using a homemade machine. the needle is not changeable and cross contamination is inevitable. tattooing is something to take seriously and you dont want to be the cause of shortening the lifespan of one of your friends...do ya? if you need any help or info, my email is tatkat@hotmail.com

After building your homemade gun, I suggest going to e-bay, or an on-line tattoo supply store, and buy your ink, there cause alot of time the ink you can buy in art stores contains lead, even india ink these days, I have looked into it.
also you can get just as good a result with a home made gun if you build it right, then it is practice, and exp. after that, I am a tattoo flash design artist, and am good friends with a pro-tattooist, and he has been tattoo for 18 years, when he first started out he made a home made gun, and did some cool ass tattoos with it, before he bought a pro gun, and went into it full time, I my self am going to step up from designing tattoo's to doing tattooing after my training is done.
A word of warning also never, ever use your home made gun on anyone but yourself for legal reasons, and even though you use your home made gun on just your self always keep the gun CLEAN, or later you WILL be sorry....
There are may ways to make a homade gun, my best advice is to look at a PRO-gun very well to give you Idea's on how to build it.
also be very careful on how power you give the home made gun, cause if your a novice you can turn your skin to hamburger, causeing ugly scaring, also check the depth of your needle, you only need to go about a 1mm into the skin, there is alot more to tattooing than just picking up a gun.
if ya want to progress faster in the art af tattooing seek out a tattooist that will train, but be ready to shell out around $10,000.00 for your training, and that not counting your equipment cost.

I have 10 tattoos and none of them are pro. I give home tats and ain't had a complaint yet. I think it is easier and cheaper. We use a motor from a VCR, a spoon, ballpoint pen, cotton swaps and a needle works great

its pretty easy actually.most of these people have the right idea,but to give it more power use an adapter(about 12v or so will do...)and even though "betterthanyou" seems like a bit of an asshole he had the right idea when he said to use india ink.i do and it works great!
