Ok first of all I have nothing but "ghetto" tat's... but all of you seem to be pretty stupid. If you can't spell or use a spell check option the i don't advise building or operating a tattoo "machine".you need to truly think it out before you start turning your skin into hamburger. dont use guitar string unless you want a blury blown out tat,try stanless or surgical wire,dont use batteries,use AC, its more reliable and far more acurate,DO NOT USE ANY PLASTICS, only use metal.you cant autoclave plastic. DONT USE INK FROM BALL POINT PENS not only will it fade but the chemical make-up of the ink can cause some nasty infections.if your gonna f@#$ up your body atleast rise above the rest and get some india ink from an art store. it will last as long as you do. dont share a gun with anyone unless you know how to autoclave...isopropyl alchohol wont clean a gun weel enough to share it. so get off your asses and get jobs...save some money and get some real...professional...safe tats...they dont cost that much...

to make a tatoo gun all you need is: first u need to get hold of a 12volt motor - lego technics kind. then a 10mm piece of lego technics glue one end of the pice of lego to the shaft. then get another shaft and glue it in the other end hole. then u will need a 3mm washer on the end of the shaft get a sewing needle and glue it to the washer. then get a pen lid and chop the end off and glue it to your motor with the needle sticking through it. slowly turn it with your hands to make sure it is running freely and smooth. then wire it up to a 12v power pack or wotever you have available the kind for a cb radio (preferably). and power up. you are now ready to tattoo. for more info or pics of mine contact me at macraboy@hotmail.com

i think i know how 2 make one u bend a spoon/fork/tooth brush with no brissles one of them then u get a ink pin and take the ink stick out and to make the needle u take one of those red coffee straws and u put a sewing needle in it and heat the end and twist it around the neddle so it will hold the needle in place then u stick the needle in the empty ink pin and the u mount the engine take one out of a electric tooth brush um toy cars or any thing with a small engine then u wrap the shaft with tape stick a needle in it and burn the tape so the needle will stay and then adjust the hight of the needle then stick it through the engind needle that u mounted and plug it in {THATS HOW I MADE MYN} i am just curous on how 2 make it different ways

After building your homemade gun, I suggest going to e-bay, or an on-line tattoo supply store, and buy your ink, there cause alot of time the ink you can buy in art stores contains lead, even india ink these days, I have looked into it. also you can get just as good a result with a home made gun if you build it right, then it is practice, and exp. after that, I am a tattoo flash design artist, and am good friends with a pro-tattooist, and he has been tattoo for 18 years, when he first started out he made a home made gun, and did some cool ass tattoos with it, before he bought a pro gun, and went into it full time, I my self am going to step up from designing tattoo's to doing tattooing after my training is done. A word of warning also never, ever use your home made gun on anyone but yourself for legal reasons, and even though you use your home made gun on just your self always keep the gun CLEAN, or later you WILL be sorry.... There are may ways to make a homade gun, my best advice is to look at a PRO-gun very well to give you Idea's on how to build it. also be very careful on how power you give the home made gun, cause if your a novice you can turn your skin to hamburger, causeing ugly scaring, also check the depth of your needle, you only need to go about a 1mm into the skin, there is alot more to tattooing than just picking up a gun. if ya want to progress faster in the art af tattooing seek out a tattooist that will train, but be ready to shell out around $10,000.00 for your training, and that not counting your equipment cost. So you've decided that you want to make a homemade tattoo gun and say it's not about saving up the cash to get a professional one but its about having the machine and doing it yourelf, well here's the general method of making a homemade tattoo gun/machine. As others have advised before my post, professionally done tattoos are better quality, but I've seen some impressive work done with these "prison" machines. Your best option is to buy a coil type machine, they are used by the professionals and move straight up and down, transferring no wobble to the needle. Here are the directions for the home made machine: Materials: (if you don't understand just keep reading) 1 Electric Motor 1 Piece of Frame Material 2 Hose clamps one large one small or electrical tape 1 Pen, Mechanical Pencil, or similar tube 1 (or maybe 2) Needles 1 Power source 1 Paperclip or plastic ink tube inside pen Making the Frame: The first thing you must do is construct the frame. This can be done with alot of things but you need something to hold the motor and the pen / mechanical pencil together. The easiest way I found was using a spoon. First bend the head of the spoon back and forth until it comes off. You should be left with only the spoon's handle. Now bend the piece to a right angle (90 degrees); you should have an L shaped spoon handle. The Motor: The electric motor can be taken from some toys and devices (electric toothbrushes, remote controlled cars, pencil sharpeners) but I suggest going to radioshack and shelling out about 6 dollars for an electric motor there. One that runs on at least 7 volts or more should do. By more I mean up to 12 volts. It should say on the package what it runs on. Ink Tube: No not the ink tube inside your pen, but the tattoo guns ink tube is what I mean here. This is where the ink waits to go into the skin. A pen or mechincal pencil can be used. Simply take out everything inside of the pen/pencil and cut it to be about 3 inches long. You can cut it with a knife or use a saw, leaving the end that was used to write. Needle & Needle Bar: This is the needle that punctures your skin and the bar that holds it. The bar can be either a paperclip or the plastic ink tube inside of a pen. If you are going to use a pereclip then you will need to straigthen it out and solder the needle to the end of the paperclip. Wrapping thread around the needle and paperclip while applying glue will also make it hold. Wrap tightly. If you want to use the tube out of a pen you will need to empty out the ink inside of the tube by poking holes inthe ends and blowing the ink out, then washing the tube. Stuff the end of the plastic tube with something such as a toothpick while leaving a little room. Stuff the needle in pointed side out, being careful, assuring that it is a tight fit so that the needle does not move in and out easily. Putting it all together: The electric motor should be placed onto one side of the spoon handle frame with the shaft of the motor sticking out a little. Use the hose clamp or electrical tape to secure it. The hollowed out and cut pen or pencil should be placed on the other part of the frame and secured in the same manner with the other hose clamp. See: -[motor] ------- p \| e \| n \/ The dotted lines/dashes represent the L shaped frame. The word motor in brackets is where the motor should be. The line coming out of the motor is the the shaft and should be placed abouve the pen/pencil. The word pen represents the pen or mechanical pencil. The two slashes (\/) are the tip of the pen/pencil. Now if you set your ink tube inside the hollow pen/pencil with needle pointing down and push it up and down you should get an idea of how its going to work. The motor will turn and push the bar up and down, while the needle goes through the end of the pen (which hold the ink) into ones skin. Now for the drive mechanism. Drive mechanism: There are two ways to do this depending on which needle bar you chose to make. The one with the tube or the one with the paperclip. If you choose the paperclip you will need to make an extension to the motors shaft and offset it. All this means is taking a piece of paperclip and soldering or thread+glueing (read up above in needle bar section if you dont understand thread+glue) it onto the motors shaft. Then bend it slightly away from the shaft. You can adjust this later to make the needle go up and down more or less. The paperclip extension should stick out more than the shaft. The extension should not be very long; just enough to do the job. Now trim the paperclip you used for the needle bar to a good size and make a small loop at the end, just large enough to fit onto the shaft extension. If the loop is too large there will be lots of wobbling and it will wear out quickly. Place the loop onto the shaft extension, making sure the needle bar is in the ink tube(the hollow pen) and give the motor power. 7 volts is as fast as you want to go but you can test it out with lower volages just to see it work. If you chose to use the ink tube inside the pen for a needle bar, then you will need an extra needle. Attach this needle to the shaft in one of the ways in the section above or by using a piece of the tube and melting it around the needle and shaft to make them stay together. Instead of making a loop in the paperclip needle bar in the method above, you will pust the plastic tube onto the needle thats attched to the shaft. Apply power and see it work. A rubber band can be used to stabilize the needle by wrappign it around the motor and needle bar. It helps to keep it from vibrating right off of the motors shaft extension and makes the needle go straighter. As for power a variable volatage adapter isconvenient, but you can use batteries and all sort of other power sources. I'll tell you all how to make one .take a motor from an remote control car or cd player or even a tooth brush. take a plug in cord with a fat bottom like the ones on shave charges dont dont use regular cordes cause it will blow the motor then cut the cord and wire them to the bottom of the motor. if its a cd player motor wich i recomend. it should have a black ring on top melt a paper clip into the outer side. then take a metal pen and remove inside. tape the pen on top a fork right in front of the paper clip so the paper clip make a circular motin in front of the pen now for the needele take a pen shell(part with the ink in it) and blow in it to remove most ink then run hot water through it now melt a neddle to the front take the neddle stick it in the hole the heat the out side and spin the plastic with finger until neddle is snug but still moblie not put a hole in the end to attach to the papper clip and it should make a recieprecating motion thus makeing the neddle back and forth. if you have any ?'s email me at juggalo_ryda_lyman@yahoo.com oh ya p.s. you can you regular ink but it dont stay so for the at home tattoo artist you better you india ink you can steel or buy from staples or walmart or most dep. stores

I am not responsible for any mis use of these instructions.they are for educational purposes. easy as hell instructions: tooth brush small engine(disc man,RC car,VCR exc.) TV to VCR cable connector,(the copper kind) wire battery pack or 6-12volt DC adapter tape ball point pen heat and bend the toothbrush to a 90 degree angle.Then line the axle of the small engine up with the handle of the toothbrush.Tape in place.take a button ,plastic gear from RC car that will fit engine,or if desperate you can use a eraser.If using either the button or the eraser make a hole the size of the axle of the engine as centered as possible.If using the plastic gear the centered hole should already be there.Take your button,eraser,or gear and make an off centered whole the size of the copper cable wire you pulled out of your VCR to TV connector.Now glue your button,eraser,or gear to your engines axle.make sure it spins smooth.After you strip the black cover off the cable wire, Bend your wire at the top to a 90 degree angle about bend it to about half the size of your eraser,or just until it goes threw the off centered hole in your button or gear.sharpen the tip of it using a nail file,file on toe nail clippers or a file.Get it as sharp as possible.Test it by poking your skin,when it pokes threw easily without drawing blood your good.now take your ball point pen and file the tip off it.tape your pen to the handle of the toothbrush,make sure that it is lined up with your engine.take your cable wire and put it through your pen then attach the bent part of the wire to your eraser,button or gear where you made your off centered hole.Hook the wires from the engine to a power source,i prefer taking the 9 volt battery connection from a smoke detector.You might need to take a rubber band to hold the cable wire into your eraser,gear,or button.You do that by putting it over then pen and toothbrush handle loosely.now you have a fully functional homemade tattoo gun.There better then having it done by pros because the tats you do have sentimental value,that you remember for the rest of your life.I have been doing tattoos for 5 years using a homemade gun the exact way i have listed and it works great.Questions? i have some advice for some tatoo home made gun in our country we use some fork a machine and a led pencil and we use some guitar string number 3 for the nidle and for the ink we mix indian ink and bolpen ink to be thiker and if you want to build a home made gun start with the fork bend it so that theres a place for yhe machine and glue the pencil with the fork and tape it and fore he nidle bend a number 5 string and glue it with the machine and put some wire and batery the bigast batery you have or you can use 5 doble a bateries to speed up the motor and put some wire to conect the batery and the machine together and your done you can tattoo with your friends or love ones and fuk up to gether with your chiks and thats it

I have to first agree with �betterthanyou� about spelling, although I found it pretty freakin funny that he had a typo in his/her posting as well :-) I also have to wonder if there is any interest in this idiocy any longer since the most recent posting was ten months ago, but just in case anyone is thinking about doing this stupid sht on their own; I thought I would pass along a little advice. I have spent time in a state funded hotel where the most abundant resource is time. This leads to some pretty innovative devices for skin "art" if you can even call it that. The way it went at my former home was extremely simple. The only thing that was needed was an ink pen (yes, this will most likely give you an infection at the very least; see below), some elastic from a sock, and a safety pen. The basic process involves extracting the ink from the pen by ripping the end off and blowing the ink out into any receptacle, like a paper cup. Then, wrap the elastic around the safety pen and dip it in the ink. Then you prick your skin a million times with the dull as sht safety pen. Is this permanent? It depends on how deep you stick the safety pen into your skin, but it is, of course, not the smartest ink to use. Is it safe? HELL NO! I saw more of my "neighbors" got to the infirmary because of abscesses and infection as a result of this practice than due to any other reason. Is it a good thing to do if you have 2 to 5 years to kill? It depends if you want a permanent reminder of your vacation or the stupidity of youth. By the way, not only are you likely to get an infection and/or abscess, but you are also likely to get blood poisoning and possibly AIDS. What a great souvenir! So, if you cannot read between the lines, it is best to leave tattoos to the experts. If you actually believe, like "Pinhead" said that you cannot get an original tattoo from a pro, you really are an idiot. You can always design your own tattoo and take your design to a pro and have him do it for you. It is worth the cost. Finally, if you cannot think of anything more creative to do than scar yourself for life, I would suggest that you make the homemade tattoo on your penis. Then it might fall off and through natural selection keep later generations from making the same mistake. Of course, how smart can I be since I spent time in the penitentiary?

You don't always have to use a machine... If you are a good artist, make a mixture of coal & water (or indian ink, if you think it'll stay wet enough) and draw what you want on you. Then (pre-drawing, make this), take a popsicle stick or something like that w/however many needles you'd like to use and tap it down on the skin, hard enough to draw blood. Make sure that the ink is still wet when you do this, however, or youll just be drawing blood the entire time. If it's too light, wait a day and do it again (since its not sich a concentrated measure, you can do it more frequently). This way, you can get several different colors and shading right (WARNING: This is a very drawn-out, long way to do anything but small tattoos) Hope that helped!

if u aint got the money or the brains to get sum ink from the store then do what i did wen i was locked... get a shoe box and burn the inside top part... let it catch fire then blow it out and let the ash go red for a little bit... then sracpe it off in to a contanor of some sort.. then pour a small amount of vinager in the contanor.. smash the ash around in the vinager for a little bit... the amont of vinager depends on the amount of ash in the contanor... the wen you're done smashing the ash around.. get sum ash out put it on your skin where u want it and start useing ur machine... all my tats were with a hand powered needle because i was locked up... but if that does not work or if u can get sum india ink form the store

I used a VCR not only for the motor but also the the base it was attached to then I took 2 dart handles the metal kind tied them together and screwed one into the base that the motor is on w/a screw that fit then I spooled wire around the dart handles and a pen I cut to size then I ran electrical tape around that I soldered a 7AC volt power adapter to the motor I took the switch out of a flash light and cut and wired it into the adapter wire then I taped the switch to the side of the handle with white medical tape for the rotary I cut and melted a plastic piece from the VCR and took a metal strip of wire and ran it through the eye of a sewing needle then rapped it around the needle a few times I then super glued some sewing thread around the needle leaving the tip exposed and there you have it one grade a tattoo gun I got my India ink from wal-mart for $2.89 IF YOU HAVE PROBLEMS E-MAIL ME AT caldwell2020@hotmail.com

After reading all of the designs on the web, I combined them and came up with a pretty good homemade machine. I got a Microscreen Tct2 electric razor. Took it apart and clipped the wires from the motor to the battery pack/board(you will see when you take it apart). Bent a butter knife in the shape of a 7, and attached the motor to the shorter side. Then opened a pen and taped the barrel to the knife. Next I got a button with two holes and superglued the shaft of the motor to one of the holes. To make the needle I got one of the large size paper clips. Emptied the ink out of the pen and cut the tip off. I inserted a needle into one end and melted the plastic inside to the needle using a lighter. I straightened the paper clip out and melted inside the plastic piece also. Bent the end of the paper clip and put it into the other hole. Ran wires from the small pieces left on the motor to the small pieces from the battery pack. Walla, you are done. if u want to make an easy tattoo gun all u need to do is get one pen shaft one tooth brush a guitar string a engine any size will work depends on how fast u want it to go some wire a battery pack and some batteries a lighter a eraser off a pencil and some electrical tape first u burn the tooth brush into a 7 shape then u wire up the engine to the battery pack then u tape the pen shaft to the tooth brush and put the eraser on the engine and bend the guitar string a little on the end and stick it in the eraser some where but u do not want it to be centered and then tape the battery and engine to the top of the tooth brush and stick the guitar string in the pen shaft and then dip it ink and have fun.

First off, using an eraser is stupid, after a while the rubber will wear down. I have a much simpler way to make things work. First off go a garage sale and buy an old Play station control (the kind that vibrate) tear it apart and use the vibration motor. Take a METAL clothes hanger and bend it at a 90 degree angle and loop the top around to make a circle. mount the motor to that. Then take a mechanical pencil, NOT A HALLOW PEN and put a guitar string through that. Mount the guitar string to another end of a hanger, a little longer then the pencil. take a coke lid (from a non returnable) cut the threaded part off and use the top. put a hole the same size as the motor and melt that on there. Guitar strings are not the best to use, put there better then sewing needles, trust me i know i have been doing this for quite some time...about 5 years now. just take the two wires from the motor and hook up a nine volt battery.......and as for BETTERTHENYOU......you need spell check...WELL not weel, also tattoos do NOT mess up your body unless you take proper care of them, and INDIAN ink is best to use and is cheaper then some of the cobalt inks used.

Not sure if i understand all this at all....? i got the motor out of a cassette recorder little larger than a walkman but for same purpose except it was able to record as well... i am figuring the part that is the motor is the part that had the wires coming from it and had the wheel to turn the actual cassette tape....(with rubber belt on it)? i hooked a 9 volt to this part and the top(where rubber belt came from) spins around and around on it....?? figuring the part is correct and is the same motor you all are talking about. i dont get how from this part i go to the wire and tube and then the needle at the end? i have several nice mechanical metal pencils and pens here and i play the guitar soooo? just really confused on how it all goes together and works.... will not try to give myself a tat till i get it all worked out of course and looking into indian (black) ink from maybe michaels crafts etc...? just from what i have read it is decent just turns maybe bluish later or even fades? someone bring me up to speed on that as well (INK)? everything i click(website gun making wise) on is down or frozen...?? or just goneeeeeeeee~!~ somoeones taking it off the net faster than it can be put on here...for obvious reasons of safety i am sure..? i have a couple of tats that i got years ago from a homemade gun and i seen the guy pull the needles from a new pack and use clean items and gloves,... friend of a friend.. also i cant get a tattoo legally in my state yet anyways~!~ in sc its illegal but up to be voted legal soon we all hope... these were of course illegal i got from him but so what cost me 20 bucks and was safe...!! i really would like to understand how to make this gun... you can catch me at standingbearz on yahoo or email at same address... make sure with a z not a s on standingbearz.. is up to you if you even feel like taking time to help someone understand this body art made at home tool. or you can drop by my site [url]http://com5.runboard.com/bdreamlocks[/url] and join and post something back to me one... either is fine... site is still new and being updated weekly.. much obligued(tips hat) peace and blessings chai

get a bottle of Indian ink, it's the only kind that works. then take a needle, just a regular sewing needle, then draw or stencil the desired tattoo onto your skin. then run the needle under the skin, just until it bleeds, tracing the outline by sliding it under the skin, get it as deep as possible, and make sure the needle path is accurate, then take a syringe (bought from a medical supply store, draw the indian ink into the syringe, and inject it into the passage under your skin, then bandage it with a big enough bandage to cover the entire tattoo, keep the bandage on, checking the tattoo every two days, making corrections until the skin heals, and that's it, you have a tattoo.

depending on how long the tail of your guitar string is, the wearing out of the eraser is fine, and actually helps regulate the motion of the needle. and to the people who keep telling you to get prof. tats, guess what. this is how tattooing started. they didn't have motors back then, they used the SAME ivory or Walruss Tusks for every tattoo. for the ink you need a carbon dust(charcoal, soot) for the pigment. the carrier solution(liquid part of the ink) is used to disinfect and provide moisture to the skin while providing a smooth transfer of the pigment. to make a carrier solution you need: ETHYL ALCOHOL(vodka/lysterine) GLICERIN(fragrance free lotion) PROPELINE GLYCOL(most common hair gell, check the ingredients) BLENDER STERILE INK BOTTLES($.55 www.superiortattoo.com) mix (7/8) of a quart of vodka with (1) tablespoon of lotion. add (1) tablespoon hair gell, and mix until uniform color. put 1" of pigment powder in the botton of a quart sized blender. add solution and blend for an hour. THE INK IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE GUN! INDIA INK CAN BE USED AS PIGMENT ONLY, MUST BE MIXED WITH CARRIER SOLUTION! THE GUN IS NOT THE PART THAT IS GOING TO BE IN YOUR SKIN FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE! I made a tattoo gun using a rc car motor, rubber bands,the hollow tube from an ink pen ,electrical tape, a coat hanger,a sharpened unbent paper clip, an ink pen shaft, a gear that fits the motor shaft from the rc car, and the rc car battery and charger. Start by using the battery connection to the rc car, cut it out with about 4 inches of extra wire. strip the wires about a quarter of an inch twist them.(not together just so that each individual wire will get a good connection when you sauter them to the motor wires. Now sauter them to the motor wires. Take the coat hanger and cut (2) 5 inch strips.(bend in middle at 90 degree angles) Tape them side by side sticking away from the pen.(this is what your motor will be taped to. Next take the ink tube with ink in it and cut off a little bit of the metal where the ink comes out just big enough for the sharpened paper clip to fit through. Bend one end of the paper clip at 90 degrees about an eighth of an inch away from the end. heat it up till its pretty hot and stick it through the plastic gear on the motor shaft.(purposely off set it DO NOT PUT IT IN CENTER)Finally drop the ink tube down the pen tube and stick the paper clip down through it and the motor attached to the other end. Set the motor on your coat hanger wires at top of pen and tape with electrical tape, go around motor 4-5-6 times so its secure. then charge the battery and plug it the the motor and get ready to tattoo. good luck

i am the answer to all ur dumb questions.ur gona need a guitar string,spoon,pc pipe clamps,mechanical pencil,a motor,a dime,and a charger from a nokia cell phone.first cut the spoon with pliers in half and bend it into a straight L shape.find a motor any motor will work.use a pc pipe clamp to keep the motor on the spoon well and sturdy plus it wont leave a mess like take does.so now connect ur phone charge to the ends of the motor it doest matter in what ordor cuz it works on posotive or negative ends.now use another pc pipe clamp to attach the mechanical pencil to the lower part of the spoon dont tighten the clamps to hard because u can break ur parts on the machine.now punch a semie hole thourg the dime once in the middle and one next to it cuz that one is going to be for the needle ok now put the motor tip into the small hole in the dime and wegde it in by hitting the motor in the back with a hammer but make shure not to push the tip to far into the dime.now to make ur needle get the string and unwined it about un inch or two then leave the rest wineded up ur needle should be around 7 inches long,stick the needle in the mechanical pencil and bend the top end into an L and insert it into the second dime hole.sharpen ur needle with a spending grinder its fast to sharpen ur string and it makes it very sharp.us my instructions carefully dont use pen ink go to hobby lobby and buy india ink or use the ink that some printers use. draw on a peice of paper with pen and then put old spice deoderant on ur body where u want the tattoo and press the paper on it and it will leave an imprint so u can trace it when u tattoo. peice aka babycarlos

ok betterthanyou,let me put it this way. you an idiot. the only thing that you were right about is that you shouldn't use a guitar string. use a need, a lot better, and preverably a sewing needle. But india ink is a lot more infectious than most ink, its the chemicals in it. Bic ink is one of cleanest inks. And tattooing yourself is better because, you did it so it usually has ore meaning, and only you know your limits. But I've heard a lot about the tat machines at skinjabtattoos but the link doesn't workd and i can't figure out how the hell to go to the website can som1 help on that? Oh and the "burn a styrophone cup and mix it with toothpaste does NOT work, its just nasty and there's nothing left of a styrophone cup after you've burned it"

Make a Tattoo Gun Things you'll need: * bic pen (this is your tube that houses the needle) * 4 or 5" section of guitar string ,second one from the smallest. ( this is your needle) * tooth brush ( this gets bent like a "7" and joins the pen to the motor) * an eraser from a pencil (this joins the shaft of the motor to the needle/guitar string) * small battery operated motor (from a "walkman" or a hand held fan) * some tape (to join everything together) Putting the pieces together: 1. Take the guitar string and bend a little bit of the end down or up. 2. Take out the ink tube of the pen, and cut it to about a 3 or 4" length, now file down the brass tip of the pen to get the ball out, make the hole big enough to allow passage of the needle. 3. Insert the needle into the pen. 4. Now take the tooth brush and cut off the bristles making it about 4" long. Heat it up in the middle with a lighter and bend it in to a "7" and hold in place untill stiff. 5. Join/tape the pen needle assembly to the tooth brush. 6. Now take the eraser from the pencil and shove it onto the shaft of the motor, try to get it as dead center as possible. Join the pen/needle/tooth brush to the motor/eraser assembly, tape the brush to the motor. 7. Take the bent part of the needle/guitar stirng and stick it into the eraser, IMPORTANT- the needle must be purposely OFF CENTER. 8. Now all that is left to do is find a power source, I used the plug-in adapter frrom a cd player. i guess you could hook up some batteries to a switch and then to the contacts of the motor.

Well I'm building my own tattoo gun right now and it is no problem - at all ! detailed description of how it actually woorks is found shortly at www.oddsolutions.dk and i found my information by studying a few pictures and reading on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tattoo_gun all the skills you realy need to have in order to build one of these is either being abel to weld or silver solder, then i should be no problem. the hardest part to figure out is how to sepperate the power from the spring to the regulator screw. i used Insulating Transistor Bushes for to-3 transistor packages you can find these at RS radioparts or other good electronics supply stores- but remember to take a look at www.oddsolutions.dk soon.

get a crest spinbrush pro take the brush tip and bust the brush part off ,cut the shaft right under where it gets wider for the brush, being carefull not to cut the plastic rod in the middle , break the rod off where the small metal pin is (once you get the thing apart you will see what i mean ). take a safety pin and hold it with some pliers , heat it up real hot and push it in to the plastic rod to make a hole, when you have a hole, cut the safety pen so that about a centimeter will be showing out of the plastic rod, then you stick the pin you cut in the rod, melt the rod around the pin and smooth it around the pin to hold it in place and there you have it , a far better tattoo gun than some guitar string and motor can give you for only like $7 . works great but remember never to use any cheap ass pen ink!

You all have to be the stupidest motherf@%kers ive ever heard. For starters, if your not willing to buy the Equipment you need "professional" and use it the way it is intended "sterile" then you should be in jail for spreading "AIDS". Because the fact of the matter is, if you dont have enough respect for body art to do it right, or dont even have enough common since to build your own machine. How are you going to expect someone to let you potentialy kill them for free, let alone pay you to do it. Now not to sound like a hipocrite, I myself started out with homemade equipment, but I atleast am an artist, built my own machine that had disposable tubes & needles. And are you in prison or something why are you all trying to use guitar string. Have you never heard of sewing needles, they are cheap, and come pre-sharpened, "DUH". things u'llneed for a tattoo gun: pen (bic), electrical tape, paper clip, pack of sewing needles, motor from walkman, thread, an eraser from a pencil,toothbrush and a a/c adapter, preferably the one that has different settings. file the tip of the pen down to get the ball out, cut it to be about 4" long, straighten out the paperclip and bend it a lil at one end, cut the bristles off the toothbrush and heat it in the middle with a lighter, bend it into an L shape and hold til it stiffens, tie the needle to the straight end of the paperclip(make sure its tight) get some electrical tape and tape the pen and motor to the toothbrush, put the eraser onto the shaft of the motor(center it) then you put the "needle" in the tube and stick the the bent part of the paperclip into the eraser(make sure it is off center), hook up the adapter and ur ready to tat. its good to have an adapter with diff. settings so you can shade.

what you need are:1) 1 Bic ballpoint pen (preferably clear) 2)1 fork 3)1 pkg. of (native) beading needles 4)1 "cricket" lighter 5)1 motor (I use vcr motors) 6)1 adapter (multi-adapter preferable to adjust voltage/speed of motor) 7)extra wire(speaker wire is good) 8) 1 roll of black electrical tape 9)solder gun 10) paperclip 11)ink ( I use "KOH-I-NOOR" drawing ink, which is the same ink my jailhouse tattoos are, and colors work well and lasts a long time with care.) ...First, bend the fork end in a 90 degree angle where the end starts to get wider. fit the motor on the bent fork so that the plastic spinning wheel stands out about an 1/8th of an inch, tape it tightly to the fork prongs. take the paperclip and cut a piece about 1/2 of an inch long off it, heat it up and melt it into the spinning wheel on the motor, about 3/8this of an inch off center, so that about 1/4 inch sticks out. Next....take the bic pen apart and cut the clear tube in half....tape this to the other end of the fork with about 1'4 of an inch of the tube hanging over the end of the fork---tape into place. take the lighter apart and keep the piece that the fluid shoots out and flames. it can be unscrewed from the lighter and is usually white plastic with brass pieces inside. take the brass pieces out and carefully take them apart. there is a small rubber ring that holds a spring in place.(not the bigger brass piece) carefully remove the ring and spring and discard the spring. the other end has a small rubber stopper in the end of it, remove it and discard it. take the small rubber ring and put it on the opposite end it was on, or the thicker end...and insert it into the other brass piece.make sure the ring make a complete seal and fits snuggly in between the two pieces take this and slide it inside the bic tube until it reaches the end(I use a push rod to fit it tightly in place) Next...take the ink tube from the pen and pull the writing tip off....drain as much ink as possible. melt the end with a lighter and join the dull end of the beading needle (they are so thin that you should double check before attaching) Take this long "spear" and insert it into the bic tube (carefully) and align it with the hole from the lighter parts inside, so that the needle slides thru and sticks out. Adjust the needle so that 3/16this of an inch sticks out. Spin the wheel (motor) so that the paperclip piece is closest to the fork, and mark the ink tube where the connect......put a hole in the ink tube and slide it over the paperclip piece sticking out of the motor. If you have done everything correctly, you should be able to manually spin the motor and watch the needle sliding in and out of the other end. Attach wires and adapter and start it up. This is one of the best jail house tattoo guns I've ever made, and with the beading needles you get fine precise lines that don't "expand" over time. With the VCR motor, I personally use a Zenith model A-14686 adapter and wire it up so that the motor runs fastest(listen to motor, switch wires around, listen again.....rewire with motor running at faster speed)and this ensures your needle is running at optimal speed. If you have it running too fast, your literally cutting someone like using a razor blade....and if it's running too slow, the needle won't penetrate the skin properly. also, when you have you gun running and you dip the end into ink, you should hold it there until you see about 2-3 drops being sucked into the bic tube....this is more than enough to start an outline.

Make your own ink Use clean, sterile materials (see note below), put on a paper mask and gloves. Mix until clear: about 7/8 quart vodka, 1 tablespoon glycerine, and 1 tablespoon propylene glycol. In blender or jar that fits on blender, add an inch or two of powdered pigment and stir in enough liquid from step 2 to create a slurry. Blend on a low speed for about 15 minutes, then on a medium speed for an hour. If you are using a jar on the blender, release pressure buildup every fifteen minutes or so. Use a baster to siphon ink or pour it through a funnel into ink bottles. You may add a sterile marble to each bottle to aid in mixing. Store the ink away from sunlight or fluorescent lighting, since ultraviolet radiation will alter some pigments. Keeping track of the amounts of liquid and powdered pigment will help you make consistent batches and improve your technique. You can use smaller amounts of glycerine and propylene glycol, but probably not larger amounts. Too much glycerine will make the ink oily and too much glycol will form a hard shell on top of the ink. If you are not conversant with aseptic techniques, don't make your own ink! Obtain dry pigment from a tattoo supply house. It is much more difficult to order pure pigment directly from a chemical supplier. You may substitute Listerine or witch hazel for the vodka. Some people use distilled water. I don't recommend rubbing alcohol or methanol. Water is not antibacterial. While your supplies should be clean and sterile, do not heat-sterilize pigments or their mixtures. The pigment chemistry will change and may become toxic. Although pigments normally are not toxic, you need a mask because breathing pigment particles can cause permanent lung damage. You can use mason jars directly on the blender as long as you unscrew them periodically during mixing to prevent overpressure breakage from heating.

Just Because you dont agree with what the person asked gives you no rite to judge Now to the question.Using the motor from almost any remote control car/boat/airplane, a toothbrush, Bic Pen, tape, and other random stuff around the house, you can make a real tattto gun. This is similar to the kind that prison inmates make. They are smart fools ya know. Materials: -one Bic pen -electical tape -motor from remote control vehical toy thing -bailing wire / guitar string / stiff wire -electrical switch -toothbrush -battery -good glue for plastic (model glue) -thread -needle Tools: -soldering iron -maybe a drill -needle nose pliers Depending on what type of device you have chosen to rob the motor from, you should obviously take care while preforming surgery to ensure that you dont cut the wires and junk. I cut the head off my toothbrush to get rid of the bristles. Using a lighter, I heated up the plastic to get this 90 degree angle, then depending on the housing that you may or may not have saved around the motor, you can find a way to attach it to the toothbrush like this. I used a small screw that went into the motor's plastic housing, and also added some model glue, and later taped it...just in case. The black disk you see attached to the shaft of the motor is a random piece of plastic. I found mine in a disposable camera (careful taking them apart if you dont know about the charge capacators can carry) Lots of things, includiong the toy you destroyed for the motor, will probably have some small gears that may fit on the shaft. You will need a tight fit, and as I later found out, you should try to avoid using plastic, or this part will be the first to wear out. I had no choice, so I'll be using quite a few of these plastic disks. Metal would be ideal, but is harder to fabricate. make sure the face of it is flush with the shaft of motor. Also you can go ahead and heat up some bailing wire and melt a hole, or drill it, into the disk. When you put a small 90 degree bend on the end of the wire and put it in the hole, the motor will spin and cause the wire to move up and down in a "stabbing" motion. This hole gets all wallowed out pretty quick if you use plastic, as you can see its already much bigger than the diameter of the wire. That was from only a short period of the motor being on. Again, I highly recommend you find a metal piece for this part. The wire length, just make sure its longer than your toothbrush taped to your BIC pen tube. I saved the tip of my pen to add later. On one end of the wire you can see some white, thats a needle that has been secured to the wire by wrapping thread around the two. The needle needs to be on there pretty good. also, I recommend tying the needle to the wire and dont leave too much hanging past the wire.Wrap some more thread around close to the tip, this will hold some ink when youre ready. Leave about 1/16th to 1/8th of an inch of the needle tip exposed and unwrapped with thread. I smeared some glue around the first thread that holds it to the wire. the motor taped to the top of the toothbrush, the wire bent to fit in the small hole of the disc on the motor shaft. The motor has been soldered to a switch.Thats pretty much it. Just decide where you want to attach your switch, and also the battery. I used to velcro to attach my battery to the top of the motor. When you use this, research some different inks. You can buy tattoo ink, or if youre a cheapo like me, I used india ink from hobby lobby. The tattoo has been there for 5 years, no problems. Be careful when tattooing other people. 1) Its probably illegal without a license, 2) needles enter the skin and leave you with a bloody cut almost, change the needles for people please! Have fun. I now have a pro Shop. And I know to some the home made method seens crude but hey its a start!

the way that i do it is i just take a razor blade and cut deep enough to where i start bleeding but not enough to like die or whatever then i get a safety pen and bend it straight, get a large piece of glass or mirror ((what ever is best for y'all)) and i get a pen, break it, get the ink cartrage thingie out and take the top out then i just blow all the ink onto the glass or mirror and after the blood looks like its stopped i put some ink on the end of the safety pin and i put it into the cut...i just did one on my wrist 2 days ago...and its really cool...but thats the second time that i did it on my wrist because you have to do it more then once if the ink mixes with the blood...thats why i wait until it looks like it stopped bleeding...but if any one else has anything with out a battery or motor or guitar string let me know!!! PLEASE!!! I'm gonna try that CD motor but i really don't wanna mess my CD player up...

i take a bic pen L-bar rubberband tape gitar string the e one the thick one a motor swewing niddle you put the motor on the L-bar put the rubber band on the motor tight you clip the ball out of the tip of the pen clean the tube that has the ink in it put the tube that you cleaned on the shaft of the motor clip the tube off when the shaft stops shove the niddle in between the shaft and the tube take the string and get the first wire out from the string cut the string that you just cleaned now put it in the other half of the tube mealt tube and mash the tube on the string and make it so it wont move now put the string in side of the pen and put the string threw the place where the ball was now attch the pen to the L-bar with tape for power use a 9-vot adapter put clips on the adapter get ink and start tatooing

The most simple way to make a tattoo is get a pencil, pen, it doesn't really matter, because this will be the piece you hold. Get a sterilized needle(boiled)get a spool of yarn and some india ink.Also get some paper towels, NO ALCOHOL! beer can make you bleed more freely so use the better stuff!turn your pencil upside down hold the needle against the end of the pencil with about 1/2 inch exposed.Do not try to stick the eye of the needle in the eraser. wind the thread from the eye of the needle to the point with barely any of the point exposed.Not too thick but plenty enough to cover the entire needle.Dip it in ink and have at it! do not rip the skin, you must poke many little holes! if u want 2 make a top notch homemade tattoo gun here is what u need:a pendisposable glovesa phone charger (preferably for a Motorola)blacc tapea forka lightera motor from a remote control car (9 volt) or use one from a vcr or dvd player or cd player- but their weakeran eraser or a button - something hard and small that u can make a couple small holes inthe tip off of a small thing of super glue (the part the glue comes out of)guitar strings-preferably, or sewing needlesa nail filerIndia ink and some drawing skillsu must follow my instructions in the ORDER they are given for this to work- now what to dofirst, take the phone charger and cut off the end part that plugs into the phone. then make sure u have the two wires sticcing out so that they can be re-attached.connect those two wires each to the two metal places at the bottom or side of the motor. put some blacc tape all around the connection u just made between the charger and the motor. when u plug the charger in the motor should run.next, bend ur fork at a 90 degree angle starting where the eating part and the holding part of the fork meet.then take your pen completely apart. all u will need of use from ur pen is the outside part you hold the pen with-i will call this piece 1 (u don't need the front end piece or the button cliccing piece) and u will need the part of the pen where the ink is stored-piece 2.now, take the writing portion (what writes on the paper) off of piece 2. now all u should have for piece 2 is a skinny tube with ink in it. wash the ink out as good as u can in ur sink. next, burn the end of piece 2 that u took the writing piece off (burn only a little-like a second or 2-u just want to get the piece hot) then take a guitar string or a needle and insert about a fifth of it into where u just heated piece 2, and use your fingers to make sure it sticcs. your needle or string should be melted on to piece 2. every time u do a different tattoo, use a different piece and needle.use the nail filer to sharpen the end of ur needlewe are almost done-psychnow, u take your eraser or button and make a fitted hole and put it on top of the motor(the part that spins). then take one of ur needles (break it so that it is about an inch and a half long) and burn the bottom of it(hold it with tweezers or something so u don't burn yourself). sticc the hot needle in the button or eraser somewhere not too far from the middle(where its stucc on the motor). now, at the opposite end of piece 2, burn a hole about a half inch from the very tip of the piece(the end with no needle in it). make sure the hole goes threw both sides of the piece. just use a hot needle to burn the hole. i hope u didn't forget about piece 1-at the tip(where u took off the outside of the writing part), tape the super glue end to piece 1. the reason why i chose a super glue end is because u get better results if the needle has a smaller hole to adjust in. the smaller the hole the straighter the lines.now insert piece 2 inside piece 1 so that the needle goes threw the super glue end. insert piece 1(the part where you burnt the whole at) onto ur eraser or button(the part with the inch and a half needle sticcing out of it). just put the needle in the hole. now adjust ur needle. make sure ur needle goes ALL the way in before coming out or u will f*** someones skin up. u only need the needle to come out about a half inch. once ur needle is adjusted u can now tape the pen part to the fork part but make sure u hold everything in place while u tape so ur needle stays adjusted how u need it. now u should see why u needed to do this in the order i gave u. ur done and i advise u not to do this while ur chopped. also never use the same ink on different people. if u have a jar of ink only pour out portions that can be thrown away when done. the gloves u needed are so u don't get ink on ur hands. any questions holla at melilkidder@tmo.dash

i'vedone some pretty cool tats myself, and covered my mates in them also, good ink to use is the ink out of "gel" pens, not biro, but the fat gel pens, black or colour works. and then to get the needle, you have to be prepared to go into a chemist that does a needle exchange (to get plenty of free clean needles, and steri-wipes) and ask for 'all-in-one' 1ml's which are syringes used for diabetics, and junkies! fill the syringe with some ink from the pen, then as you go to do each bit of the tattoo, push the plunger down a little, so a drop of ink hangs off the end then stab repeatedly following the pattern you are doing, wiping each bit away to see how it looks. my tattoos from years ago still look great, and none of mine or my friends have ever got infected, no motors, no batteries... easy-peasy.... lemon bloody sqeazy.... email me at fit_muff_diver@hotmail.co.uk for more information, or pictures of succesful tattoos, or advice etc... happy 'tat'-ing! good luck kids!

having troubles with the guitar string model, the string isn't seeming to be very sturdy while i am practicing and isn't piercing verywell. any suggestions??

electric pencil sharpener brake it open use the motor, than a hallo out pall point pen, guitar string cut to a point, and heat up a old toothbrush bends it to a 90 degree angel and a eraser to keep the motor to the pen and the toothbrush is to hold it all together. oh and u need tape!

try a cd player.rip it apart, take out the motor that makes the cd spin.take a safety pin, unbend it and make it completely straight.take off the top of the safety pin. heat it up.while its hot,melt a small hole in the plastic part of the motor.take a pair of pliers and bend a SMALL part of the top of the pin to about a 90 degree angle.tape the motor to a spoon{the part you pick food up with.tape a pen with the top cut off to the long part of the spoon.tape a 9volt battery to the back of the spoon.take the safety pin and put it in the pen.put the bent part of the pin and put it in the hole you melted.tape the 2 wires to the battery and UR DONE.

its best to buy a professional gun.ive used homemade guns for years and i recently bought a pro setup.its so much easier and the tats come out a lot cleaner in my opinion.

you could use instead of an eraser a button,make sure that the motor top fits a whole of the button and put the guitar string throught another whole of the button

im 12 and im the master at making tatoo guns all you got to do cut a pen in half take everything out. grab a rc car motor attach a small piece of gutair string to it. put one of thoose "L" shape things on the pen so it looks like an upside "L". secure the "L" shape thing with floss on top put the motor secure it and attach the motor to a power source some how and kapow.
