In India it is usually worn on the left side. and even though i didn't get mine there i still got mine in the left nostril. but its really up to you what ever side you think it looks best in. i have my left nostril pierced and i love it. good luck and hope your as happy with the one you get as i am with mine.

My son is a piercer and he has researched this. The left side is the wrong side, according to stories from India. I had the right side pierced.

I believe that it doesn't have a meaning. If you want to get it pierced you shouldn't let society pick which side is right for you. That whole left means gay thing is so not true. I have the left side of my nose pierced and I have a boyfriend (I'm a girl by the way) which I am planning on marrying... so basically, it is either side that you pick.

A professional would tell you the side that is less like to touched/brushed/come in contact with/ played with /etc. Since the healing process can be somewhat painful, and the more possibility it has of being touched/etc. the less likely it will heal as quick, not to mention possibly become infected.

in india you do it on ur left side cuz the right side means ur gay.......but unless you plan on goin to india, its not a big deal cuz it dosnt matter in the us....

Well, I got my left done and I can clarify with you that I am NOT gay. Saying that was a very ignorant statement, and makes you sound very childish- on that note, the "MYTH" is that a guy is gay if he gets his RIGHT ear pierced (hence the saying left is right, right is wrong!!) but even that isn't true. Its simply what the guy (OR GIRL) prefers. Just because she or she gets one side done, doesn't mean you should judge or make fun, or make a statement like that! Come on!

the left side today might seem gay but the left side is alot safer. the left side is preferred as it makes childbirth easier, and it's better for you health.but it's bad when you are sick. and don't just get your nose pierce because the girl on MTV got her'spierce, or because it's cute. it has a meaning of significance and people fell to realize it's significance. In India women pierce their nose symbolizing marriage.that's why you should wait till you get married. and get the left side pierce.

well i am 15 & i just got my nose pierced today, and it was on the right side. i dont think it really matters what side you get it on because i have friends that have it on the left & right. i guess its just your choice what side you prefer it to be on.

You guys have it all wrong. Left is not gay, right is- look at which ear guys pierce their ear on- the left. If you pierce anything on the right it means you are gay or have no idea what you are doing.

It doesnt matter what side you pierce it on, and niether side means gay, that is judgemental and stupid. I have it pierced on both sides, it doesnt mean im bisexual, im strait.
