My 3 year old cat Tyrel, has just been diagnosed with feline herpes.  It has not affected the inside of his mouth, his ears, bottom of paws or his eyes.  It has only affected his nose. It is very dry, and scabbed over.  The problem is that Tyrel keeps taking the scab off, leaving it looking like an open wound of raw skin.  My vet recommended to keep putting vitamin E  oil on it, but he licks it off.  Is there any other way to help heal his nose a little faster or a way to prevent him from taking the scabb off?

My cat also has a visible "scar" on his nose and one of his eyes is swoolen and kind of "runny" you might say.  I have tried antibiotic cream on the nose, but like you mentioned, he licks it off before it can do any healing.  My vet didn't say much about it, except that it was a scar that might not heal, nothing about feline herpes.  Do you have any more information on this?
