My dog contracted it from us once and it went away on its own in about 2 months or so. It was never very severe because dogs aren't bad about scratching them and licking like cats. Myself and my kids were a different story. We had it for 6 months while using creams but then I went to a skin specialist and he gave me Dyflucan and it went away never to return. The dog can benefit from an antifungal cream applied directly to the ringworm spots.

Last night I was playing with my dog and noticed a round red ring down on his belly.  I am wondering if it is ringworm and what to do about it.  I have children who play with him all day long and I am afraid that I did not find the spot soon enough.  Memorial day is today and my doctor is not open.  What do I do??????

Go to your vet immediately! Have your children wash their hands after playing with the dog. But you really should see your vet, because they can tell you for sure.

The anti flea medication Program has proven remarkably effective in curing both cats and dogs of ring worm.  The manufacturer has a scale of dosage based on race of animal and weight.

Well I live in the boonies so I have the say problem .The only thing would be just to keep an eye on the children and always wash and sanitize with hand sanitizer at leaset until you get the the vet. Some Medical soap If you have some, that might be a good start.

my husband and i used desitin cream for babies, like a zinc. We also used bag balm wich you can get at the co-op it is for skin itch recomended by vets.  We then after christmas took her to the vet were we were perscribed a cream called panolog 2x a day.  Hint- the vet also informed us that you cannot catch ring worm from the dog licking you, you actually have to touch the infected area, and symptoms occour 5-10 days.  Wash hands after contact.
