I am told the surname CONROY comes from county Rosscommon. How can I find history on the CONROY surname.
Also are the Irish Tartan categorized by clan or by county.  I have heard both.

"Conroy" seems to be a common name in the San Francisco Bay Area, with some persons being of local and current notoriety.  I also am interested in learning about the tartan or county associated therewith, as I'm a descendant of that surname, but have no answers here.  My paternal grandmother was a Conroy and an immigrant who married a Swedish immigrant.

I'm assuming that "Conroy" is from the Latin, "with the king."
