My 4 month old shih tzu was groomed for the second time. His experience was awful! Poor little guy ended up in the emergency pet hospital with pulminary adema and contusions to his lungs. He was held too hard during the grooming process. Groomers claim he just stressed himself out too much. Vet claims it was physical force. Anyone ever hear of this?

Oh Wow...

Personally I would take legal action against the groomer, also, File complaints with BBB etc...  People that do not have the patients should not have jobs such as working with animals.  Don't let the groomer get away with this.  I would also check with other people that use this groomer, they may have had experiences that were like this with the groomer.  Last but not least I would ask people that you know or your vet to recommend a groomer.

poor little pup. hope he is ok. I suspect that daisy had a bad experience with a groomer because she gets frantic now at the sight of a brush. i use a combined can only groom if she's wet. we got her at 10 months old and she has a few mysteries to her. she is not one to forgive mistreatment. i think it's better to try my own hand at grooming even though i'mnot a pro. i would go after the groomer. they shouldn't get away with that. They should have concern for the health of the animal, and if they can't be gentle they should not be employed.

wow so sorry to hear about that! I took my shih-tzu to a groomer shortly after I got her after we brought her home I noticed she was afraid of me. Never again! I looked on e-bay and got an instructional DVD and purchased the trimmer the groomer had recommended. VERY informative DVD I was able to trim her myself and she looks like it was done by a professional. This might be something you want to consider.
