Where does the phrase "Diamond in the Back" come from?  I think there was a diamond emblem embroided on the back seat of some cars.  What car is it from?

The phrase came from a 1970's song "Be Thankful for What You Got" by William Devaughn.  The song gave reference to a Cadillac.

For me...and for ludacris it seems, diamond in the back refers to the diamond in the back of all LINCOLNS.  It is their symbol of course, and Luda in the video is riding out in a timeless continental.  With as many ideas as u guys have come up with it's hard to say what devaughn really meant, but for me and my car...it's the Lincoln diamond
