what are the side effects of phenobarbital.  My dog is house trained and 1 week into the drug therapy, she had several wetting accidents and she developed dime sized red blotches on underside of hind legs

Our dog has also been on phenobarbital medication for one week and it has been the longest week of her and our lives.  She has not been incontinent as the other person's dog has been - close to it, but cannot walk without assistance holding her up. she is dragging her rear legs and collapses all of the time.  In addition to the obvious thirst, hunger cravings, she whines constantly as if in pain.  I keep reassuring ourselves that the awaited results are worth it.
