Hey, DONT WORRY YA'LL!! Its really normal, use a hot compress, Hot water Bottle, or Hot facecloth, 20 minutes everyday, 2 weeks, it will go down! Use polysporin for awhile, or even SCRUB it hard when washing your face.

Dont worry about this bump, big or not, If its infected and you get green gunk when you take it out, use peroxide, it doesnt burn.

I have one also.  It seems to be getting bigger and bigger by the day.  I've tried almost everything from alcohol to sea salt to hot compresses to neosporin and nothing is seeming to work.  Everyone I ask tells me something different and I have no clue what to do.  It seems that most people say seasalt so I guess that's what I'm going to stick to.

Hey I pierced my nose about 4 weeks ago and it seemed to be healing fine up till about a week ago. Then I noticed that around the hole there was like a raised ring of flesh. Its pink and it hurts when I touch it but it wont bleed. Im planning on going to the doc. soon but I just wanted to know if anyone out there has had the same problem and if they used hrydrocortisone on it?

This is what I found when I researched....
What is the "Bump"?
The "Bump" looks like a small red or white pimple next to one of the entry holes of your nose piercing.
Why does this "Bump" happen?
The "Bump" can form for several reasons. Trauma to your nose piercing, poor aftercare, irritation to your nose piercing, changing your nose jewelry before the piercing is healed and excess stress on the piercing due to improper body jewelry can all help contribute to the fomation of the "Bump".
How long does the "Bump" usually last?
How well you care for the "Bump" will determine how long it lasts. Doing sea salt soaks and hot compresses will help draw impurities out and allow it to heal on its own. Popping it will cause trauma to the area and your piercing causing the "Bump" to come back in a few days and possible scarring. If the "Bump" is not taken care of, it can last days, weeks or even months.
How do you avoid the "Bump"?
Getting pierced by a reputable professional piercer that uses the appropriate nose jewelry (CBRs for nostril piercings and not screws or bones) and using proper aftercare.
Can you change your nose jewelry while the "Bump" is there?
Usually changing your nose jewelry will make it worse, so wait until it has completely healed. Consult your piercer if you think that your nose jewelry may be causing the "Bump" to occure.

i have one too! i actually tried popping it, cause it looks like a zit to me, but i don't recommend that. there seemed to be a lot of layers of skin all built up. the polysporin works, but if i didn't do it constantly after it went away, it would come back again. does anyone know why it does that?

the bump is called a keyloid( dont know bout spelling though). anyway its scar tissue and its not normal. it happens when your body is rejecting the piercing. your better off taking it out. watch out for future piercings....... this can happen again.

Hey ya'll
Its me KAYLA again... but this time with hopefully more info...
I got my nose done on both sides, it hurt like anything but I done it.
At first its just like a little pinch, then its sore for a few weeks, but its not half as bad as gettin the top of your ear done    --In the cartilage-- I have my ears done three times on both sides, so I know what Im talkin about when I say, There isn't much to gettin your nose done. Clean it regularly with peroxide, not alcohol, and you'll be fine. It doesnt always leave a scar, but you may get one!
I got mine ALL done with a gun, its ALOT better!
It faster and hurts less, its still not outlawed in alot of places, so go for it!
Bumps are VERY normal, I had them on both sides... They eventually go away!
I can answer many more questions, just email me or add me to msn at:
king_kayla@hotmail.com
See ya!
Ps: I am 14...

get a washcloth and run hot water over it.. make sure it's decently hot and press it on the bump every day.. the steam will lift impurities out.. i also used polysporin every night b4 i went to bed.. it helps if u wear a band aid.. i also did sea salt soaks and washed it with anti bacterial soap and it's pretty much gone

I have a "screw stud" that they used to pierce my nose with, and I got it done back in November. The diamond fell out of it, and now I'm trying to replace it, but I can't get the stud out. This is my first "body" piercing, so I'm a little new to the process. So, if anyone could tell me how to take it out to switch it with a different stud, that'd be great. Thanks

if it's what I had, then it probably hurts when you try scratching it off or picking at it. So it's probably a keloid and they don't go away by those methods. I went to my piercer and he told me to use the soap they sell on it in the mornings, clean around it inside and outside of your nostril, then either do a sea salt soak or  use hydrogen peroxide as much as you want because it will dry it up and then it will start peeling away small layers. Oh and don't touch it and it will go away. Otherwise it will only stay there.

i also have a bump which they called a polyp. I have allergies and i was told that because of the new piercing i grew one directly near it because of the tissue lost. My piercer told me to just put peroxide on it for about 2 weeks and it should go down, BUT IT HASNT. it just takes the scab off and i have to start all over again. Just wateva you do dont pop it, let it heal as a scab and it should go away. hopefully you have better luck then me cus i want it to go away NOW.

the small bump you have is called a kenoid. its caused from an irratation to your piercing. it is common and treatable if you wash and clean your piercing 2-3 times a day. if the bump is still there after about a week and a half go to a piercing shop and have a professional look at it.

This bump is called a keliod, and is caused from rubbing, or playing or bumping your peircing. Buy some Sea Salt from your grociery store, and add a heaping table spoon to a cup of boiling hot water, take a cotton swab and place it on your keloid, everytime the water cools down on the cotton swab, redip it in your sea salt water, do this for 10 min, then add 3 drops of %100 tea tree oil before bed, this will dry it out and cause it to flake away. DO no squeez!!! this will make it bigger

Dont scrub it hard, dont use peroxide in a piercing-EVER, use neosporin or bactine, and sea salt or saline soaks twice a day, and be sure to see your piercer!

Don't effing scrub it, what the heck...

Bumps are caused by trauma to the piercing.
Bumping it, knocking it, yanking it out, SCRUBBING IT. >_>

Just use hot water compresses or salt water compresses a few times a day for 5 minutes or more... If you take care of it and don't bump it you should be good. Just be sure to wipe it dry when you're done, trapped moisture can also mess with it.

I had an infected nose ring for 5 years.  I got a new piece of jewerly, soaked in tea bags, sea salt, hot compress you name it for 2wice a day for a year.  It would go away then come back.  I kept telling the place where I got my piercing that it wouldn't go away and they kept telling me to soak.  I finally did some research and found that many people are allergic to the surgical steel and sometimes there are rough edges that cut and cause irration inside the nose.  I finally ordered a diamond "real" platinum nose ring from http://www.bodymattersgold.com/acatalog/Nose_StudsandNose_Pins.html.  This is the  most petite well made nose ring ever.  I popped the bump got the infection out and replaced my nose ring with this u shaped diamond ring.  Within two week the bump was gone and has not returned.  It has been 6 weeks bump free and my hole has gotten smaller and accepted the platinum ring.  I highly recommend that if you have an infection you spend the money and get this ring.  The differnce between this nose ring and my old one is like owning a tiny miniture dog v.s a horse.  It is worth it.

well i had one of those bumps and i had to go to the doctor she gave me an antibacterial cream and an antibiotic.  She also wanted to recommend me to a ear nose and throat doctor.  She also did a culture on the bump because like puss or something was coming out. So anybody who has it do not re pierce your piercing and don't change out your ring until it is fully healed if you have a bump try to go to the doctor but i didn't take my piercing out like i was suggested to or go to the ENT doctor.  Just take care of it

so i recently got my nose pierced about 2 months ago and it was good until maybe a week ago.. i started getting the little bump under my nose stud and when i went back to the piercing place they just suggested a salt water soak. i have yet to try it but i am going to soon, i have also been researching it to see if there is anything else i can do and found that the reason it came is most likely because i have had to take it out a few times already for my sport, i have put a plug in and it has only been out for about 2 1/2 hours at the  most but i will have to continue to do this until july
now i fear that the bump will never go down and i don't know what to do
any suggestions?? please don't say let it close and re-pierce it later :[
