WW1 started off with the murder of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. Austria were angry that their heir had been killed, this is where the triple alliance & triple entente come in. In 1882 Germany, Austria-Hungary and Italy formed the Triple Alliance. The three countries agreed to support each other if attacked by either France or Russia. France felt threatened by this alliance. Britain was also concerned by the growth in the German Navy and in 1904 the two countries signed the Entente Cordiale (friendly understanding).
Three years later, Russia, who feared the growth in the German Army, joined Britain and France to form the Triple Entente. The Russian government was also concerned about the possibility of Austria-Hungary increasing the size of its empire. It therefore made promises to help Serbia if it was attacked by members of the Triple Alliance.
So seeing as Serbians killed Arch duke Franz Ferdinand who was from Austria-Hungary ...First World War Had Began.

i think it started bcuz other ppl had a huge fight and then they thought of war which made ppl join in it and then it spreaded then it become world war 1 but why did it have to be war??

the 1st world war started because Gavrilo Princip shot franz ferninand
Gavrilo Princip was part of a society called the black hand the society consisted of about 4 people all wanting to kill franz ferninand so when he was visting the black hand shot franz ferninand and then killed themselves this is one of the causes of the 1st world warxx
