Try KMR - it is powdered formula similar to human baby formula, but it is made specifically for cats (and ferrets and rabbits). I work at a vet's office and am currently fostering 2 one week old kittens. I feed them every 3 hours a mixture of KMR and Nutri-Cal and when that is done I give them each .3 cc'sof dextrose. (You can get all this through your vet). Also, and this is VERY IMPORTANT!!!! If they are very young, you have to stimulate them to use the bathroom. Take a tissue and wipe their 'private area' gently but repeatedly and they will begin to urinate. Once they get some food in their system you will also have to stimulate them to poop. Disgusting, but necessary. If they don't relieve themselves, all the stuff will back up in their system. Very bad!

Baby kittens should remain with their mother cat till around 8 weeks old. They get the mother's antibodies in the mother's milk that can help them fight diseases..you can feed with a pet nursing bottle..NEVEr use COLD milk..it gives then cramps and diarrhea..evaporated milk is better (luke warm, not HOt; test with finger). There are several formulas on the market and at the pet stores if you cannot afford a vet, but its always best to consult with a vet. Baby kittens need alot of attention and must be stimulated to go to the bathroom ..their butts should be wiped with a washcloth (gently) so they can have a bowel movement as someone else on here mentioned.. good luck..and feed often when hungry..also, an alarm clock can sound like the mom's heart beat and help soothe them.

I found two newly born kittens who some unscrupulous owners threw in the trash center of our condominium. I tucked them in for two weeks. One passed away after two weeks and the the other after another day. The first kitty, Jasmine, died after heavy rain. Life is difficult and unfair. I work from 8-5pm. I had to leave her dying hoping she would live but when I got back from work, she was still. Her surviving sister afraid underneath the carcass. I washed the surviving kitten and tucked her in morning. I had this professor who exuded the personality of late submission, no grade. I had to leave th surviving kitten crying to beat my deadline. I bought some friskies hoping she would be able to eat at 4 weeks old. In the PHilippines, transportation is difficult and it took me an hour and a half to finish my shopping for good catfood just about kilometer from our school. I returned and she was lying still. She has passed away too... I could still hear their meows after burial ... Please, when you say it's bad... don't say its bad. Be specific. Say they will die, they will perish, they will pass away. I know you are just trying to be diplomatic as possible but being frank sometimes brings better results. I should have thought leaving keeping them outdoor was not bad... it will make the kittens die. I shouldnt have thought not massaging their private parts being two week-old kittens were bad. My kittens will die if I don't stimulate their private parts to defecate and urinate. I should have thought my kittens would die if I don't get them the right milk (err... formula). Now their gone ... Lessons from a sorrowful experience: Baby kittens are incapable of regulating their body warmth. keep them with their mother or litters. The human hand is incapable. Take them away from the litter atleast and she will die. Human milk or dog food is not a legitimate subsititute for mother's milk. It is not enough to sustain them. They will die ... Never ever leave them outside. They will die... Make sure they defecate at least once a day and urinate by massaging their private parts with a wet cotton bud. If you don't, they will die ...

use this: baby kitten formula 4 oz. evaporated milk 4 oz. water 2 egg yolks 1 teaspoon corn syrup (or substitute pancake syrup) 1 capsule cod liver oil *REFRIGERATE any unused formula and make fresh formula if all not used within 48 hours. FEEDING: Warm formula but make sure it�s not too hot ! Use a plastic feeding tube � a 3 cc size is best but you can use a 1 cc size and you can obtain a tube from a vet or pharmacy. Orphan kittens need to be fed every 2 � 3 hours until they are 4 weeks old. At 4 weeks old, you can introduce some canned cat food mixed with the baby kitten formula but supplement with the feeding tube until all kittens are fully able to eat enough on their own. They should be weighed on a kitchen scale each day and their weight recorded in order to make sure they are gaining. Consult a veterinarian if the kittens fail to gain weight, have diarrhea, continually vomit or sneeze. i wish u all luck and hope the kittens are o.k!! ^_^

Try feeding it milk from an eye dropper. We did that with an abandoned kitten once and it was still with us 13 years later.

Well, this is way late for the original writers, BUT... There are commercial pet formulas on the market. Having bread dogs and cats I have used both kinds with great success. Ask a GOOD vet. My first vet told me nothing I could use would work. He was a BAD vet. Good luck to those of you that find this useful.

my dad found 2 day old kittens on a Sunday 27th .........there really cute but me and my mom have no clue on what to do with one of the kittens it's bleed'n in some odd places can any one help!!!!!!!!!!!!

you should train the other kitten that is hopeless to try often to clean itself by telling it to do it's buniess in the litter box.............don't do it's buniess on the floor!! i am also looking for a kitten my self

well, my sister and i found 7 baby kittens in our barn and it seems the mother is never around and they always seem hungry. Is there any possible way i can give them something that will make them full for awhile that i can get rite out of my kitchen?? Thank you.

PLEASE HELP! I just got a 4 day old kitten, abandoned by his mommie. I cant buy the "real" milk (KMR) til the 1st (in 2 days)....can I give him "evaporated" or, "powered" milk? If so....do I "dilute" it? PLEASE HELP ME! THANX!

I have a question also, I have a cat who has at some point given birth to about six kittens. I never had cats so I cant really tell how old they are they look to be healthy and they are small enough to fit in a size four shoe box(the little white ones bed). I tried getting close to them but the mother raised hell when I came near them so I left them alone. Tonight is very cold and I tried making a shelter for them but they are affraid what should I do? Animal control wont come out for them.Because now one of them got left behind, I dont see the rest of the family.

We found a 15 day old Kitten and brought it home. It wants its mother and it eats milk from an eye dropper, but still dose not like it. And its one eye is opening and things are coming out and i don't know what to do.

I'm having to use an eye dropper on 4 kittens now who's MOM got ran over and killed a week ago it's not easy but i love them to death. in fact i'vegot my husband helping me now and my two kids. hope yours did alright! good luck

well that is a good idea but some cats are stubborn and don't want to learn how to use it so it may take a while for him to get used to the litter box but you should look in newspaper they have free kittens every week quite sad really so many inncent things out there DO IT

i also found a baby kitten, it's about 3 weeks old. got the formula, been stimulating the private areas, it is peeing, but I've yet to see any poop. do they poop yet? what else can i do to get it to go? thanks for any other suggestions. lorri

I found 4 2 day old kittens, I feed them "Ready to Use" formula that I got at the vet. I feed them with a seringe without the needle on the end. It works for me, so I hope that it works for you too.

we found one in our barn once. it was abandoned. it ate the wet dog food pretty well. it could only be about 2days mabey three days old (now its about 1 year old.)
