We recently replaced the cv joints in our 96 dodge caravan.  After 300 miles the left joint puked all over the ground.  We assumed a bad part.  We had it replaced by a garage and after 100 miles it did the same thing.  The book says the engine must be centered but we cannot get the engine to move?

Anybody got any ideas?

I think you just installed them incorrectly. Unless you have had a terrible wreck and the alignment of the drivetrain is terribly wrong, you should not have a problem.

you will have to loosen the engine mounts and shift the motor from side to side too make sure the axles are the same on each side

Hello,
Your problem is not the cv joints or axle. But rather your engine or transmission alignment. On the Chrysler cars the mount are adjustable and if the become broken, worn, or loose the engine or trans can shift. This will cause the axle to over extend thus pulling the inner cv joint apart. This is very common and should have been recognized by your mechanic or axle supplier. To remedy this inspect and replace any worn or broken mounts. Then remove the axle nut from both of the outer cv joints. Have a friend push the cv axle in toward the transmission until it bottoms out and measure the the length of threads that are sticking out from the wheel hub. Do this on both sides of the car (this should be equal). If not loosen the engine and trans mounts and pry the engine or trans over to adjust. Then tighten them all back down and double check the thread for equal amounts.
