If you want a show dog it could cost over $1000 dollars but if you just want a pet you could find a healthy one for under $500. You can look in the paper and ask the sellers if the dogs parents are suitable and the pups have shots. There are plenty of places that have a health guarantee. Good luck! Tanisha

J-man,
In most areas of the United States the price of a healthy well bred Golden Puppy will start at about $750 and go up from there. Competition quality puppies will start at about $1,400 and go up from there.

Always look for pups from litters who's parents, grandparents and great grandparents, have verifiable health clearances for at least hips, eyes, and heart, and come with a written purchase agreement and guarantee.

golden retrievers will do great as a watchdog/protection dog. They are alert of their surroundings and everything else going on. YOU SHOULD NOT encourage this breed to be aggressive. They will natrually protect you if you or your family is threatened.

I think Golden Retriever puppies are really cute, and I'd like to have one, but I don't have $500. I'll just look in the paper to see if I can find a dog that fits my budget.
I wish I could find a Golden Retriever, though.
