Usually you would breed a pit bull by breeding a bull dog with a stadfordshire terrier.

I have never heard anything so stupid in my life as the last answers to this question.  A pit bull was bred by crossing the old "Bull and Terrier" (a cross between the original bulldog and a now extinct black and tan terrier) with the original bull dog.(Originally bred for bull baiting) This brought together many good traits, which were then honed by hundreds of years of selective breeding, producing the most bad ass fighting dog in the world.

i have been breeding and fighting pitt bulls around Birmingham. This breed enjoys fighting so it has definatly got an old fighting breed in it. i have a party and between us weve got 56 pittbulls thats including buflow. this pittbull is 4 years and is a champion. its been in 18 fights. they were all won. there are probably a bulldog breed in the pittbull along with a terrior. our pups are sold for £1500. there are 300 different breeds of pittbulls since they all come in different sizes and weights. the heavist pittbull ive got is 10 stones and thats buflow. but for certian they are the worlds best fighting dogs!!

dogs should not be used for selective breeding because its not fare how would you liked to be thrown in a room with a boy or man and made to have sex so you could produce more babies

all of you are wrong! The pitbull is the original bulldog! nothing added nothing taken away except for the name! there are old paintings and statues of the original bulldog and it is the same dog as we now call a pitbull. old bulldogs were game! as game as todays pits so why on earth would anyone want to fix something that isn't broke and dilute gameness with terrier blood! think about it! yeah there where some experiments done with terriers but all failed for the pit! one example is the bull terrier! they where tried ,tested and failed! and so was all other terrier blood that was put into what people think is the extinct bulldog to improve on fighting ability and gameness! truth is you cant improve something thats perfect to begin with! thats why today as in the days of old you cant put any other blood into modern bulldogs (aka pitbulls)to improve them for combat! you can only breed the best to the best like its been done for century's by dedicated fanciers to retain the quality's that make these dogs the ultimate form of canine athlete on earth! And if any other canine blood is added to this, the result will be loss of what makes these dogs unique and special! and if you haven't figured it out by now what it is, than get
another breed!!!! because GAMENESS IS EVERYTHING!!! the rest is just secondary!!!

The original bulldogs x white terrier (now exticnt but similar to the manchester terrier) although crosses with all kinds of terrier were made as they were breeding for performance and not appearance.

This is the same history and beginning as the Staffordshire bull terrier and American staffordshire terrier but the breeds have since moved apart due to breeding for different tasks/show. Look at all three recognised breeds and you can see the common ancestry not to mention their extreme love of people.

bully kutha might be created from sindh mastiff, kumaon mastiff and local pakistani/lion/tigerhounds.he was a hunting dog before.not a fighting one.
many say that it was created by great dane and mastiffs of the west. but no western breed can be as strong as these fighting machines.besides mastiffs and danes can't tolerate this temperatures.this dog is the descendant of the great sindh mastiff, kumaon mastiffs which are unchanged war dogs.this dog is undefeated.and has defeated tosas, pit bulls .when india was invaded, british dogs were more powerful than indian bull terrier.so localites introduced bully kuthas blood and puppies fought and defeated the english ones.however even english bull terrier's blood was added. when the mighty bully kutha himself entered the fighting ring,no dog could out fight this untiring fighting machine.and this cruelty is banned almost everywhere.but still this dog is being used in fights.his nerves is filled with dignity, powers, fire, and thunder.

The original bulldog from england and a terrier but different lines have more bulldog blood and some have more terrier in them. As to which terrier was used is always a debate. I would say different terriers for different bloodlines.

Pit bulls come in many shapes and sizes ranging from short and broad to ones with a slender body and thin muzzel. They range in weight from 35lbs to 95lbs. How much terrier and how much bulldog or even what type of terrier was used varied from bloodline to bloodline. But it was the combination of terrier and the original buuldog from England that made the pitbull was it is today.
