How many people died in concentration camps and when were they liberated?

Around 6 million is the generally accepted figure. The first camps were liberated by the Russians in 1944 as they advanced from the east into Poland. Those camps in Western Germany were liberated in 1945 by the other Allies (USA/UK/Canada + others).

6 million Jews were killed in the concentration camps during World War II.  5 million minor ethnic back round people were also killed.  I didn't know about the liberation so I want to thank Simon and Peanut for this chance to get some info.

About 6 million jews were killed during the Holocaust.Many of them were slaves, homosexuals,deformed, and mental retarded. Also the mothers and children were killed in these concentration camps because they needed the men to do all the labor work. The people in these camps were tortured. They all were undernourished and some of then were even gased.

We must remember it was not just the Jews who died. You must include the gypsies, communists, homosexuals, certain religious groups, Russians, POWs, and anyone else who died because their existance ideologically opposed Nazi doctrine.

yeh it is sick how many people were killed, others like gypsies, homosexuals ,black race,jews, people with big noses(they thought they were jews)were killed but people with blonde hair and blue eyes were spared(this was the perfect German)

The Nazis themselves said that they only had 4.5 million  Jews under their direct control and they would have, in 1941 at least, when that estimate was made, had no particular reason to lie.

This figure is of particular interest when it is considered that as of 1988, some 4.3 million claims for compensation had been filed against the West German government by Holocaust survivors, according to the Federal German government.

Despite this, estimates by non-Nazi sources of the numbers of victims of Nazi concentration camps has varied wildly from six million to 11 million, depending upon which source one cares to consult.

More than 11,000,000 people died. This included Lesbians, Gaymen, gypsies, jews,
immigrants, and other. I don't think anyone will ever know the exact proportion of how many people died in the Holocaust.

about 12,000,000, half of them were Jewish (6,000,000). There were many different ways of death, including starvation, exhaustion, over worked, diseases, suicides, enthusia(Mercy killing), and experiments preformed by the evil Dr.Mengele. Many died in the camps, but some also dies after the camp was liberated from (as mentioned) diseases.

my answer would be that it is estamited that over 6 million jews died they also sent gays crippled and prisoners so you should add about another 5 million for all that was not acounted for.

10 million are estimated to have died, an estimated 6 million of whom were Jews. The other 4 million included Jehova's Witnesses, Catholic Poles (2.5 million) and 50% of Europe's Roma (gypsy) population. Homosexuals were killed as defectives/degenerates, as were those w/ physical or mental handicaps. Leftists, Socialists and Communists, and Soviet prisoners of war were also murdered.
It's a testament to powerful propaganda that most people only remember the 6 million number--as if slaughtered innocents of other ethnicities or groups matter so little as to escape mention.

I hate to break it to you guys but your answers are wrong because a lot more than 6 million Jews were killed there was about 8 million Jews that were killed and many others that rounds up to about 12 million people altogether.  Oh and to "Dude" i think you seriously need to find someone to help you with all those problems you have!

Six million Jews were killed.  Five million consisted of homosexuals, Gypsies, and captured Resistance fighters from Holland, France, and Belgium.  For extra information:  Male homosexuals were forced to wear pink triangles (like Jews were forced to wear yellow or black stars) and were imprisoned but female homosexuals were not forced to do anything.  That's ironic!

many Jews did die in concentration camps, but also many other people died such as Ukrainians, Russian POW’s, Russian civilians, Poles, Yugoslavians, Gypsies, Mentally/Physically disabled, Homosexuals, Spanish Republicans, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Boy and Girl Scouts, Clergy, Communists, Czechs, Deportees, Greeks, Political Prisoners, Other POW’s, Resistance Unknown Fighters, Serbs, Socialists, Trade Unionists, etc.

But a definite number was never gotten because that would be impossible. So a rough sketch of all of the people that died in the Holocaust (done by UCA) is about 233,295,000. Makes you wonder what would happen to you doesn't it...?

about 21 million people died in the holocaust, 6 million were Jews, 3.5 gentile Poles and the rest were of Slavic descent or homosexuals, gypsie's etc. Others died rather than just the 6 million Jews everyone only hears about.

According to the reports by Oskar Schindler, over 3 million Jews where killed in Poland and more than 4 million killed in other parts of Europe.  So an Approximation would be around 7 million Jews died in "C-camps"
